Wow, I honestly never noticed that until now! Though it makes sense thematically since everyone's canonically trying to restore normalcy back to the island. So everybody's working together to get to and beat the bosses.
It played in my head when I was racing my brother in Go Karts and we had equal levels of speed, it was pretty much racing till very last corner (less than second gap at the finish line). Usually I get speed advantage but he gets released first from pits, so its then me trying to catch up as fast as possible while he has to try make no mistake XD

They all cheat & start before they should. That Dino & the Octopus are the only hard boss. Octopus is just pure luck because he shoot is stuff anywhere & the wave push you back sometimes. You can't follow the normal trail, you have to go off road. The Dino you simply are not allowed to miss once or else he is almost impossible to catch unless your close for when he's tired at the end.
Octopus is SO annoying hard XD I still hate the boss despite knowing how to beat that one, just takes so many tries because got to get perfect speed kept up even when dodge the bubbles.
if you hug the left wall and hop around turns to keep your hovercraft from losing speed you can actually overlap the octo in the 3rd lap. didnt find that out till my 18th playthrough as a kid though and he has higher speed in mirror mode so you cant overlap him in the reverse playthough. same trick for dino you can hug left wall and perfectly fit between the gaps of the wall and the falling pillars. As you get higher up the mountain theres a shortcut on the left wall as well hidden between 2 bushes that you'll find just by hugging the left wall again. the hardest boss race is actually the walrus because he is programmed to double speed when you get in first so as long as you wait to pass him before the finish line you'll always win. if you're too fast you'll actually just lose its funny you have to be kinda bad or just play bad on purpose to have an easy time with walrus. dragon is easy to overlap too if you do all turbo boosts (letting go of a button a frame before hitting the boost. you'll see a green fire come out of your car instead of purple if you did it right)

Rareware left them to another company to Microsoft for buying them and due to Nintendo never gave them a raise and never even care about their Rareware games they made until Nintendo now owned Donkey Kong Country rights and you can see why Donkey Kong Racing was cancelled on 2002 originally suppose to released on GameCube but Nintendo can still released it just they refused it. Even just because Nintendo and Microsoft working together doesn’t mean Rareware are going making games for Nintendo on consoles.

The Walrus and Octopus were the worst....somehow the Dragon wasn't too bad since you had XYZ flexibility Still though the first Wizpig fight was insane how perfect you had to be, for a 6 year old that was like Dark Souls kind of shit
