  • This 2010 Tiguan was brought in due to the heater blowing cold air on the passenger side. A fault code for the recirculation door actuator lead me down the garden path... Problem turned out to be a leaking heater housing due to the cabin filter door not being sealed correctly. Video shows heater system testing using VCDS scan software.

    Expat in Europe, Thank you so much was dreading having to do a VCDS diagnosis. Thanks to your diagnosis checked the filter housing,and the previous tech didn't slide the cover on fully and filter dropped down. No warpage. Thank you thank you thank you ! Wife very happy!!!!!!

    The dial in the glove box is to keep sandwiches and cans of pop cool

    It's the gate under the dash board, 2 gates behind the heater core, drivers side opens, passenger side is stuck closed.

    Did you try turning the dial in the glove compartment to off! Fixed our problem immediately without any hefty expenses or investigation. Worth a try

      That dial appears to allow heated or cooled air into the glove box. The actual problem on this was the cabin filter access door not being installed correctly. Thanks for the comment.

      @@PhillipBailey thx Where is the cabin filter door located ?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 года назад +1

      @@sashakay6208 directly below the glove box. It's rectangular about 12 to 14 inches long and 2 inches wide. Slide to towards the passenger door and then straight down. You car may have a hush panel covering it though.

      In hindsight I should have driven the vehicle first to experience the problem, probably would have not wasted time with the scanner. Step 1: Confirm the condition...

    Good find Phillip, very tricky but u got it fix and u said using VCDS on the snap on are u using a wire or through Wi-Fi connection thanks.

      I'm using the USB cable to the VCDS adapter. It does allow for WIFI but the cable is fast and reliable. I believe it uses internet explorer for wifi connection. I've only used this VCDS software 6 or 8 times since I bought it a year ago..

    Hey Phillip. My flap opens and closes I'm no mechanic. My 2012 tiguan is cold on the passenger side and heat works fine on the driver side. Could it be the blend door actuator if it opens and closes? I've read alot of forums but seems they open or make noises when bad? My coolants is fine no leaks running fine tempature of the vehicle is fine. Just the heat on the one side and none on the other

      if its dual zone AC then yes it could be the door actuator.

    • @zachwright219
      @zachwright219 3 года назад

      @@PhillipBailey I do not have dual zone. Just normal climate control. Everything seems fine besides on half of the vehicles heat is gone... Ive seen so much and watched this video to find out where it was what it was. But the actuator is opening the flap and closing when needed and no noise or odd sounds... got me somewhat stumped unless the heat core is clogged ?

      @@zachwright219 Well if it only has one temp door and its moving then the most likely cause of the problem is that the heater core is clogged on one side. This happens on quite a few vehicles but I haven't seen it on VW but we don't actually have that may of them here. I'd try flushing the heater core first see if anything comes out. I've had some success with CLR left sitting in the core for a few hours. good luck
