The last video I watched you brought tears to my eyes by saying a phrase my sweet Granny used to say. And this video, tlyou made me chuckle at your, "nobody wants to see 60 yr old boobs." You're a real gem sweet lady. This country girl appreciates you keepin' it real. Just subscribed after after watching only videos
Thank you so much Friend. I’ll be back soon. My 96 year old granny fell. She’s ok and is back home now so I’m looking forward to getting back to the garden. Thank you for subscribing. 🥰
You are adorable. I've gardened my whole life, so about 50 something years worth. My deep obsession and love for growing things started when I was about 4 years old thanks to my grandmother and great grandmother. I spent considerable time with them in the garden learning all the things they learned and passed on to me. I have in turn passed all my plant knowledge onto my children. The reason I bring this up is because it doesn't matter how much one knows, there is always more to learn! Love your channel! I love the secret ingredient! I've been doing the bokashi method for a while, but those fermented flakes are getting pricey. Kraut is a GREAT solution. Another thing I'm doing to make tea is all the weeds I pull go into a large tub. I fill it with water and let it rot. I call it my special stinky water. It does smell to high heaven but the soil loves it. P.S. that painting behind you is wonderful.
The generational gardening knowledge is awesome! You speak the truth! I tell my kids and grandkids all the time that "you never get too old to learn." Thank you! Tea with the weeds?! Ok. I've got to try that on those pesky weeds. I'm guessing though since it stinks that you store it someplace outside? How long does it take to rot?
@@bestgardeninggoalsYep the weeds make a great tea because they are high in nitrogen and minerals. Not to mention they are free! So I let mine sit for about 6 weeks. Today I used a bunch of the stinky water to wake the soil back up before spring planting. Good times!
You’re very fortunate to have grandparents. My dad lost his parents when he was 7…they died when a cement truck struck their car and my dad was at school. My grandma on my mom’s side passed away from cancer when I was 4 and my grandpa just got into all sorts of troubles. Then my mom passed away 3 days before her 49th birthday from the same cancer her mom had….too young and it use to frighten me that I would pass young also but it helps me to know there is a time and season for everything. A time to weep and a time to celebrate. Many say they wish you happiness but if we do not cry or make mistakes nothing is learned and my wish is for their to be more empathy and life experiences to grow and help others grow; which you are contributing to by being simply you! Thank you!
@@tinaknutsen Awww I'm so sorry to hear about your loved ones who passed on so early. Life can really throw some curve balls. I love your ideas. I started gardening 2 years ago. This year, I'm transforming my backyard into a whole garden. I'm so excited because I'm retiring this year and will have the time. Welcome Friend and thank you for subscribing. Enjoy your retirement. My hope for you is that your garden will bring you as much if not more, peace, joy, and happiness that my garden brings to me. I retired after 30 years on a demanding job so I can definitely relate to that tired feeling.

Hi! Welcome and thank you for subscribing. Making my own saves me money plus it’s like putting nature back in. Hope you enjoy yours as well. Draining the scraps container at least once a week helps diminish odor. I keep the drained liquid in its container underneath the kitchen sink. Happy Gardening!
Hey Ms. Yolanda! I use a 30 gallon trash can to catch rainwater and I found a mesh cover on amazon and it keeps out mosquitos and critters. You might want to try one for your wheel barrel.
Have you considered trying to bend some wire hangers and bump up the top of your totes with aome of that clear plastic as a mini hoop house type situation for the tomatoes?

Pickled eggs are yummy! And since beets are high oxolate and I started having issues with them, I am going to test out a pub pickled egg option with pickling spice blend.
Would you believe I've never, ever had a pickled egg in my entire life?! I've seen them, but never tried them. I should put that on my bucket list. LOL!
@@bestgardeninggoals lol, well, Mom always made them with a can of beets (drain but save the juice), eggs, and used equal parts vinegar, beet juice, and sugar. Heat to combine/dissolve the sugar, and then pour over your eggs and beets. I have been working on insulin resistance issues, so just do the vinegar and beet juice without the sugar. She used the same vinegar/water/sugar mixture for 5 bean salad with a bunch of different cans of beans in case you wind up liking the tang of pickled stuff and grow beans.
Yolanda thanks very much for sharing this awesome video. I noticed that you use veggies, egg shells, coffee grounds and sauerkraut. Is there any reason that you did not mention adding fruit scraps? Also, should I wait until I have a lot of scraps, or should I continue to add and layer my jug daily? Again, thanks for sharing your ideas with us. You are so appreciated. God bless you. 😊
I haven't tried that, but I think you can still use those scraps. The only difference I can think us is that you might have a little extra moisture to drain more often. That's even more fertilizer! Happy Gardening!
Hi Ms. Yolanda. I'm new to your channel. Let me say to you that I really enjoyed your video. I have a question. And I do apologize if you already said how much in the video & I just missed it. How much of the diluted fertilizer do you pour onto your plants? Another question is, can I use fruit in either the fertilizer or compost? I'm going to buy the sauerkraut. Thank you for the tip. Have a blessed day 🤗
Hello Friend! Thank you for watching! It's always ok to ask a question here. I mix only 1 tablespoon of the fertilizer into 1 gallon of water. Yes, fruit is good. It's natural. Just be careful not to put old strawberries or fruit seeds in the compost because they might sprout. :) You have a blessed day as well and Happy Gardening!
4/2/24 first time viewer. When the compost gets real low do u use what's left in the bottom on the Veggies that ur growing in the garden?? What do u do with what's left??. Be blessed🙏🏾🙏🏾💜
Hello Friend and Welcome! When it gets real low I add it to my tote that has old dirt in it that I've dumped out of other containers. This allows me to add extra nutrients to the old dirt that I'm reviving for reuse. You Be Blessed as well!
I keep it in the "kitchen scraps" container under the sink for about a month or so until everything inside the container has broken down a good bit then I mix it into a tub of potting mix that I have stored in the garage until I need to fill a pot. Then I start all over again. It usually takes me a while because I don't cook a lot. LOL! I'll cook a one pot dish like chili or lentil soup that lasts for like 3-4 days.
@@PatC. I keep it in the cabinet under the kitchen sink next to my kitchen scraps container. Keeping it next to the kitchen scraps container makes it easy to drain the liquid scraps container into it on a regular basis. It’s important to keep it drained to limit an odor.

Oddly no, I don't. Either that or I'm "nose blind." LOL! I don't think so though. No one else in the house has noticed any smells so I think I'm safe. :) Yes, I think it can be put in a greenhouse. The warmth might actually help it to break down faster.
