Would love to see more full time RV owners as well as full time live-aboard crusiers utilize this type of system. In a boat or vehicle with limited water capacity, this seems like the perfect solution. Please follow up when the system is up and running. Would love to hear your thoughts after it's done, along with any changes you had to make or anything you'd recommended that others do differently.
The furnace is an integrated part of the system. It all runs on a central controller, along with the fuel pump and coolant pump. The fuel pump pulls gas from the gas tank via an auxiliary port. Pumps gas into the furnace and ignites. The coolant pump pushes coolant through the hot furnace and through the loop system. Passing through the furnace heats the coolant to 194 degrees F. The hot coolant allows us to have hot water (plate chiller), hot air (air matrix) and heated floors.
@jessesmithchannel Thanks for replying! However, my main question was whether a furnace like propex one, which is "blown air furnace", could be used instead of hydronic heater.
I'm not entirely sure. I went down the rabbit hole of heating options, but the hydronic system best fit our needs. After that, I stopped looking for other options.
The hydronic system has been fantastic, after addressing a couple of small leaks (incorrect sealant used on stainless steel connectors). We used it on a Thanksgiving road trip last week. 27 degrees outside overnight, 68 degrees inside the van! Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten around to finishing the shower pan to finalize the recirculating shower. I've had a ton of other projects take precedence. Hoping to get it ready for the spring.
Dude you're crazy I love the hydronic system. Absolutely bonkers
It's a wild system for sure! A lot of fun to design and build.
I love the idea of being able to take a long shower in 3 gallons of water! Wish we would have had this in our home years ago 😉
Would seem like a big cost saver!
Also seems like a headache to setup, maintain and keep the filters clean etc. It's fancy and luxurious but man that looks so complicated.
And I thought plumbing a house was tricky. This is nuts. 👍🏼
Imagine plumbing an entire house in a 20x30 inch box. 😂

I'll absolutely be doing a follow up, once the system is fully up and operational!
Absolutely amazing! I see you use gas furnace. Can you explain how coolant get warmed up and can we use other furnace like propex propan one?

so good!! How's the hydronic system holding up? How often do you need to replace the filters?

Any UV light sterilizer in the loop(s)?
I skipped the UV sterilizer. I have a space where I could add it, but I don't plan for us to get the water in our mouths.
