- DJI are a market leader in drones and camera-tech and yet each time we buy a product, we're buying the same expensive core component over and over again, unnecessarily. This can be better, let's make DJI listen. Imagine the workflow simplicity of shooting both aerial and ground footage via the same camera/sensor.

Yes this makes sense. Providing that Lightbridge can support it over many drone sizes
I think it's a great idea and would certainly cut out the middle man, even if you could only buy the parts from DJI directly it would still cut out your shipping costs, labour fees and wait time for sure
A great idea. Its something Autel Robotics have been doing for a while now with their drones. Which is why I am probably going to purchase the 6k rugged kit. Interchangeable payloads, brilliant ! Thanks for the vid.
Dear DroningON, Thanks for your feedback as as a valued customer. We will take you comments and completely ignore them. Regards DJI.
You're probably right. Ha ha
Haha, unfortunately probably quite accurate :)
I think interchangeable camera's for the smaller drones are a great idea 👍
Name is Bond, James Bond.
…and for DJI, name is S, IGS (Interchangeable Gimbal System)
Mavic Air 2 igS 🙂
Haha, if only!! Fingers crossed!
This video seems rather close to the one I released on Mar 14, 2021 about using Interchangeable removable gimbals heads on the DJI Pocket 2, well some of the ideas you spoke about.. Even the video title somewhat matches the thumbnail I used. Good on you, I agree with the Concept though... obviously
Thanks for the comment, if you're suggesting that your video was the inspiration for this video then unfortunately you're mistaken. I haven't seen your channel before, nor the video that you mention. Your video appears to be regarding the Pocket, whereas this video is about the entire DJI camera range, in addition the thumbnail that you've used states "Build this" as in to build the theoretical camera that you're talking about, whereas mine is asking DJI to implement an entire new concept across it's entire range. With thousands of creators on RUclips, there will occasionally be some minor cross-over in the content that we all product, it's just called 'coincidence' buddy.
@@Droning-ON not suggesting that , and you have commented on my channel before. You actually deleted your comment afterwards... You had a rant on my channel about me not quoting my sources when we were talking about the pocket 2 rumours. Not suggesting i inspired your video, simply that it was similar to mine two weeks before..
@@HowToGuyChannel no worries, purely coincidence, just as many of our videos actually have some overlap in topic and subject matter, it's the nature of RUclips :) quoting sources is essential, and courteous, hopefully you're now doing that in recent videos.
I can see someone is at DJI right now putting their finger over their lips saying, "Shhhhhhh, just buy more stuff"
Haha, yeah quite!!
Thank you for a great video but in my opinion, DJI is here for business only and they know they can create anything they want. For this reason, they want to create something that you will break and pay for a repair service i.e like the DJI care. I'm sure the DJI marketing team recognizes the FPV community appetite and they want to lore us in for that. I hope they listen to your request but I doubt it. That just me saying.
Can't see it happening. If the processor is older, it won't work in a newer and more powerful drone. Look at the gimbal issues of the mini 2, the gimbal is not strong enough for the more powerful device.
I agree it would be a nice idea.
Now for me I never broke a gimbal on any of my DJI Drones from the Phantom 2 Vision+ on , through most of the following generations, up to the FPV drone ... ok the Vision+ is not really a gimbal. Fun fact they are still all in flying conditions.
This idea makes so much sense in so many ways! I hope DJI listens. I once broke the gimbal on my original Mavic Pro. I was able to replace it myself, but had to almost completely disassemble the drone. BUT it was a success.
That's amazing, Dean! You smart technical guys always impress me.
Yes it's hard work, I replaced mine on the MA2 (as per my video) but it wasn't fun, and still has issues with firmware now!
@@SunriseWaterMedia It was not really that hard, but I just had to very careful in the disassembly process (it often felt like I was going to break something prying on parts that clip together hard). Another thing that surprised me is that the camera module had several small memory chips on it. I learned upon re-assembly, that anything variable on the DJI Go4 app is stored in those camera memory chips. I had to reset EVERYTHING in the DJI Go4 app when I started it back up. But the operation was a success, and that old faithful drone still performs as well as it ever did.
Then taxed by the U.K. government for getting your sodding drone back into the country! Never buying a dji ever again. No repair shops in the country. Stupid.
It would be great! I think they would rather make more money by forcing us to buy a whole new drone instead of changing a broken camera or gimbal.
Yes it's a great idea because we are the consumer. But a bad business idea because your cutting down on profit and imagine buying a dji drone without a camera as an option. If that's the case take off an extra $200. I would love this to take place but I don't see them cutting down off their profit
Like It.. Come on DJI why do you think we are strapping our gopro cameras to our drones... It's alot more weight to carry but they are better cameras! Get creative and get rich on a bettter product.
The idea of a gimble that one can screw and unscrew is gigantic. That way, one could have several gimbals at home so that when one breaks, you just unscrew it and screw in a new one in without having to the send the whole drone to the dealer. DJI should pay you for this brilliant idea.
Brilliant idea!!.. probably a few years away but I think DJI may take note for the future..
What was the problem with gopro, why did they give up so quickly? Yes its a good idea to be able to swap out the gimbal yourself.
I'm pretty sure it's a really easy-fix for their engineers and repair department, the real problem for me is actually their refresh/repair process, real pain in the a**.
I remember experiencing a retailer/dealer which did not want to replace my P4 with cracks on its arms despite still being under warranty, its excuse: DJI did not reimburse the retailers/dealers for that exchange...
There are so many varied experiences with DJI Customer Support, it seems to be regional as to the quality of service received!
Absolutely agree. They should’ve done this with the Mavic 2, but they want to sell you two drones not one.
It just makes sense ,I just can’t see DJI following on from GOPRO.
But would love them to do so.
Maybe it’s because all DJI can do is copy one design then make incremental size increases but all essentially being the same drone. Thinking outside the box is not their way.
Yes, modular does cost more money initially, in R&D, also the parts to create the modular element, but ultimately it would be massively worthwhile!
I don't think DJI is in the business of saving us money or make life simpler for us.
It would be great if DJI make a docking station for its just like skydio!
That's a really good idea! Hopefully Dji Listens to it
Very good idea 4all of US! 👍 that Would be great.
DJI want you to crash and pay for repairs, it’s better for them as a business. Just like Apple want you to break your iPhone screen and charge you £300 to replace it or buy their Apple Care for £150 and then charge £25 to repair it 🤔 The big players pretend to cater for the consumer but really they don’t.
Well, actually I disagree. To have a customer services operation, repair facility and to train those staff takes time, money and reduces their overall revenue. To push this responsibility to the customer means that they can focus on 'product' rather than 'service', that's where the easy profit margin exists.
It's a great idea, one I personally would love to see considering my run a d gun gear is osmo pocket 1, mini 2, rode wireless go 2, a zoom h1n. However, I suspect somehow this could eat up far more profit margin than dji would ever feel comfortable with.
Yes, it's a challenging one, let's hope that DJI consider it!
Uuuuummmm? Good luck with that but can we ask Autel Robotics for a smart controller now? Lol
Haha, indeed!! :)
Well, from a point of a customer, I totally agree and would love that.
But, for a company, it's not a smart move, why would they give you the option to get a drone and a osmo pocket as one package if they can make you buy a full price drone and an osmo pocket, this way they sell more, earn more and so on. Sadly I guess that's the main reason it's not that easy to repair things and exchange parts
But honestly knowing that the camera module is a more delicate one, they could just make it easier to be replaced I guess.
on another note, Did you hear the rumor that the Mavic Air 2S will be able to connect to the FPV goggles?
Thanks dude, but I have to disagree. Pushing this responsibility from manufacturer to customer means a massive reduction in operating costs, not having to stand up a repair center and the customer service operation to go with it. Plus, it simplifies even their own repairs, plug-n-play means that they can ship a repaired drone out in minutes, rather than hours of intricate repair/solder/test etc. Yes I did hear the rumour that the 2S will connect to goggles, but I don't want to fly Mavics via goggles, it just isn't that kind of drone :)
@@Droning-ON Well I guess I didn't think of it that way, I honestly don't know what's better for a company but I hope that they will one day choose your way or something.
and regarding that new Mavic, I don't know what's the point either, it will probably look nice but with an FPV drone goggles are probably more suitable
Great idea! Well done!
Autel Evo 2 has this modular feature. One of my favorite features it has.
Very true, it's a great feature!
Put it on a plane and connect it with its battery would be a third option that makes sense for a lot of those in the rc plane hobby
Yes agreed, although you can already do that with the existing Cadex/Air Unit's and the camera coupled to it!
Yes Yes Yes PLEASE
Good idea. Makes great sense. Corporates will hate it
Thanks Kwad Kong, indeed!! Thanks for the comment!
Great idea! I use my mini2 on a home made stand in the garage like an ordinary camera. To be able to just use the camera and gimball would be fantastic!
Precisely, and it would make your footage more seamless between air and ground! Thanks for the comment!
@@Droning-ON I didn't even think of that. Same camera makes same quality shots. 👌
Totally agree
Great idea but would they even contemplate as it'll cost them r&d money then they'll take a hit as we don't need to buy as many of their products, we can only hope.
Yes it would, but it would reduce their overall operating costs and customer services footprint in the long-run, something which is now even more important considering their limited trading in some countries.
@@Droning-ON good point, we live in hope 🤞
Brilliant idea! Hope DJI is listening and adopt it!
Indeed, share this video with them!
Good idea👍
Cheers buddy, let's hope they take notice!
6 devs from DJI disapprove!
Haha, 8 now (little do they know that by interacting, they're spreading the video!)
dji wants to make money. they want you to buy a new drone.
That's very true, and that profit contributes to their product evolution :)
'Love the idea as long as it's cost-effective.
Yes indeed, but even if it knocked $100 off the price of the drone to buy without a camera and utilise the camera from one of my existing DJI drones, I'd be happy!
That's a fantastic idea Ash.
Thanks dude!
That is such an awesome idea
Thanks buddy!
There are patent problems
Possibly, but DJI would find a way around that, as they always do :)
awesome idea ash!
Thanks Jesse!
Agree, great idea
Thanks mate!
Awesome idea
Thank you! Cheers!
Great idea!
Thanks mate, let's hope they see this, SHARE SHARE SHARE!
It’s a very nice idea, would make filming and grading vlogs easier. Hey DJI you should listen to this...
Yeah agreed, so much simpler if your ground and aerial footage are shot with the same camera/sensor!
Great idea. Calibration would have to be quick, yet .. sounds perfect !
Thanks Mark, let's hope that it happens!
