After riding for 30 plus years, I'd never thought I'd be in love with a 125cc bike 🤗 This and the 71 desert scrambler, one for the city and the other for doing my agricultural stuff while playing to and from. I think that's how it'll play out in the end. Ride safe and enjoy your beautiful little toy!
Love the fact it's got a kick start, I swore I'd never buy another bike without a kickstart, that's how I ended up with a royal Enfield. I didn't know of these bikes till this video, may get one next ,thanks for sharing
Hi Tracie congratulations on being the first owner to post a review on this bike. I've been waiting along time for an owner to do a vid as I'm very interested in buying one. Great vid thumbs up!
Dave Spooney thank you. I was in the same position before I bought my. So decided more vids were needed. If you get one you won't be disappointed. There is a AJS Cadwell owners club page in facebook. That you will hopefully find useful too 😊
Hi, Tracie got my Scrambler yesterday. Love it. The off road springs give a comfortable ride. On what pass as country roads on the way to my mother's house. Haven't been repaired since I was a very small child . Looks lovely in blue. Hopefully they will be bringing out bigger bike's in the retro range soon. Ride safe.
Only got about 3 at the moment. I will get some more a weekend. How can you send them om utube. ? No nothing about computers. Took kid's 6 months to get me this far.
Great video Tracie, I haven't been on the road on 2 wheels for a couple of years now, and after speaking to my work colleague, he told me about this particular model, and now I have the bug to get one again. I do about 50 miles a week commuting to and from home and work, so I reckon this would do the trick
Jason Amos just I'm a member. I love my Cadwell. She's in for her 4000km service next week. I was out riding with friends yesterday and we covered 112 miles.
oh that's very good. Thank you for your reply. I will look into it and come back to you. You use the acf 50 spray? Just a spray on and wipe off type of application?
I love how good these ajs motorcycles look and sound, I had a Yamaha yzf r125 but I’m looking at getting an ajs now until I do my unrestricted license. But I’m torn between the cadwell clubman and the highway star 😓😓😓😓😓😓 I want them both 😂
Hi there, lovely vid, I am new to the bike world and was wondering if you think the ajs Cadwell would be a good first bike, love the retro look of it. Many thanks Ashley
Hello ma'am. Nice motorcycle. I like it. I'm looking one for myself. And I found AJS Tempest Roadster. But I would like to ask about your motorcycle. How it looks after several years of use. Any failures? I can't find to much information. Thank you
tracie lawrence Sorry, a typographical error. I have edited my comment. A gear indicator to show which gear you are in at any given time. An useful device for any new rider.
nice review, you picked up on some good points and its good to hear you're using ACF50, I've used it on my bike and its good stuff although I find mud and grime tends to stick to it (loads of tractors and farming near me, roads generally covered in shit and it rains five days out of seven) so I'm thinking of giving silicone spray a go. Got one question for you if thats okay, what size and make of tyres come with it? that and it's a nice looking bike.
Rhys.D.Brown. I've run her in gently by the book up to the 1st 1600km service. I've now done over 2800km and the engine is nice a responsive. On a straight, flat duel carriageway yesterday my Speedo touched 76mph. A few weeks ago on a long journey i set a GPS app to test it and it recorded at max speed of 70mph. It'll sit happily at 50/55mph all day long. Reaches 60mph nice and quickly and easily. Hope that helps.
Partly. Like everything else they are no longer made in the UK, but they are wholly British company based in Hampshire, the AJS name and business is now owned by the son of the famous AJS motorcycle racer and competitions manager Fluff Brown. So lots of the original AJS heritage is still there and I believe that really shows in the build quality of my AJS Cadwell and the customer service AJS have shown me. I can't fault either. Best bike I've ever owned.
AJS’ bike’s division was taken over by Matchless in 1931. All Ajay’s made there after where in fact Matchless bikes with just an AJS badge. Later AJS and Matchless were incorporated in AMC (with Francis Barnett - James and Norton; later mentioned Norton Villiers - in ’74 Fluff Brown acquired the AJS brandname and started A.J.S Motorcycles Ltd. Motocross bikes with Villiers engines. His son Nick is the present day marque owner and has these Quality Bikes produced in China. www.ajsmotorcycles.co.uk
Its bad practice to leave an air cooled engine running at a standstill for a long time. The engine require a flow of air around it to dissipate the heat from the fins.
pmw650 I agree with you on that point, having started my riding with air cooled 50 cc and 125 cc engines this is just bad practice as you say, stood there in the sun with no airflow is not a good idea for the longevity of the engine, especially on a new bike.
once run in if you find you cant go past 8,500 revs flat out, theres a universal megaphone exhaust on amazon for about 40 pounds, this will let it rev all the way to around 10,500. i have one on my cadwell, done about 6000kms on mine so far hope you enjoy it :)

Beautiful bike. I,ve got the same scarf. Really warm. Just ordered a Tempest.
Noel Satterley thank you. I sent you a link in you other message from yesterday reviewing the Tempest. It's a good watch.
Hi, Congrats on your bike,
I like it thinking of getting one myself. I like the clubman as well.
Awesome video walk-around & review :).

Jason Amos sounds like it would be perfect. There is an AJS Cadwell Owners Club on Facebook that you might find really helpful to join.
thanks Tracie, are you a member etc. Are you still enjoying it. where are you resident

AJS do a gear indicator. I ordered one and it came without fitting instructions and they refused to give any! Not very nice.
Sorry i didn't understand your comment. What have you ordered?
tracie lawrence Sorry, a typographical error. I have edited my comment. A gear indicator to show which gear you are in at any given time. An useful device for any new rider.
I didn't know they did one. Will your dealer fit it for you? X
tracie lawrence AJS suggested I get my dealer to install it. My dealer is far too far away.
tracie lawrence If you do get a gear indicator to perhaps you could mention how it as installed
This would be useful for many people.

Ant Laud I'll have a check at the weekend and let you know. Mine handles great in dry and wet.
Ant Laud Cadwell Tyre make is Kenda, front 110/70-17, rear 130/70-17. Hope that helps.
What's the top speed? And what speed will it sit at comfortable on a long road?
Rhys.D.Brown. I've run her in gently by the book up to the 1st 1600km service. I've now done over 2800km and the engine is nice a responsive. Wow great bike, is it the same AJS company that use to make the old Brit bikes

Nice video, yours is much cleaner than mine. I feel ashamed.
Rob Jeffery. 😊 how long you had Yours though? And how many miles? 😊
tracie lawrence had mine about 7 months, only done 824 km.
Ha I've done 1052km already 😊
tracie lawrence I got two small girls at home so find it hard to get out. Might go for a ride this eve.

jack ager but does it improve top end?
Mine will do around sort of 73 true mph as the standard speedo is 5mph out so the clock reads 78 when I'm doing 73
Ain’t true matie
