I recently got this kit and had it installed. The tuner was updated mid Feb before it was installed, and I do have the trans temp option in mine and I use it while towing. You should connect the tuner to your computer that has ProCal 4 installed and check for updates.

That's cool. Thanks for the update. Hope others read your comment.
Sadly I traded my Ranger in on a 1 ton to tow my toy hauler. Had to do it with the high cost of diesel trucks right now.
Sucks, the Ranger was of my funnest vehicles I've owed.

PSA regarding this performance tune from Ford. It adversely affects your towing capabilities and there is an inpending update to allow it to function with the 2021 models. Be aware of what you purchasing and installing.

I suspect the CHT temp is the charge air temp. This is the temp of the intake air coming out of the intercooler going into the throttle body. This is far more important than the coolant temp. As these temps go up, the computer has to pull ignition timing which lowers power. An aftermarket IC will help prevent this.

    • @curtisbull1583

All ford can see is the truck was tuned, can't tell who's tunes or what tune was on it. I was happy with the ford tunes, but I'm power hungry, so I would have already changed tunes if I still had the little Ranger. Had to sell it to buy a new 1 ton truck. A real shame for sure!

Most don't Mount theirs. It's something you pretty much plug in make the settings and then unplug it. There are some parameters you could watch but it's not really set up like an edge insight that you see in a lot of diesel trucks. If you go with an aftermarket tuner of some sort they will be more set up like the diesel side of things.

With modified boosted gas engines you typically want to monitor knock and temp readings as well as a/f ratio to get an idea if you're in the danger zone. Especially when pushing the boost, the more you push it the more you need to be aware of heat soak and when to chill on the go pedal. I would hope ford's performance tune would be safe on an otherwise stock vehicle though. 🙏
