This is both epic and sad at the same time. Yes, we see two of the most powerful benders in action but we also see a brother and sister literally fighting to the death. It truly is a tragedy.
Zuko was an incredibly skilled all-around combatant who was able to recognize his weaknesses and strengths so that he could use weapons (including bending) with great efficiency. For example, switching to redirecting lightning instead of generating it - not everyone could do that. Wisdom was his power in the end, and he showed that by ensuring that an even more powerful bender - Katara - was able take down Azula.
@@royal3069 I mean, Zuko could match up to Azula fairly okay before the Agni Kai, like on their little ship brawl. And if you want to compare how they faired against others, Katara nearly snapped Azula in half like a wish bone while Zuko was on even ground with her. Also, Zuko has fought high-ranking generals like Zhao and won. All while under the constant tutelage of Iroh, one of the strongest and most skilled firebenders alive at the time. I think it’s safe to say that Zuko is up there, even if he’s at the “Bottom” of the top.

You know what makes this fight even more heartbreaking? Azula, just like Zuko, is a direct descendant of Avatar Roku. She could have been the one who sided with Aang, taught him firebending, and restored balance to the world. But alas, it was not meant to be, because Ozai had corrupted and forged her into his personal tool for oppression, then discarded her like common rubbish. The most tragic villains of all are the ones who could have been heroes.
sorry to be that guy, but... they aren't descendants, they are far related in some sort of manner but no blood bonds involved, Their Grandpa (or great grandpa, can't remember well) Was Roku's Brother in Law and best friend, then he betrayed Roku, then skidadle skiddook the avatar is now overcooked.
Actually they are blood related 😅 the person you’re thinking of is Fire Lord Sozin, who _was_ Roku’s best friend and _did_ betray him. Sozin was Ozai’s grandfather. But Ursa’s (Zuko and Azula’s mom) grandfather was Avatar Roku. So Zuko and Azula are the great-grandchildren, direct descendants, of both Roku and Sozin.
But then if Azula was the Zuko, then Zuko would be the new Azula. And the Agni Kai wouldn't be as heartbreaking because Azula and Katara would be fighting Zuko, who'd be sixteen not fourteen, and it could be argued that because 16 is sorta age or adulthood, he doesn't deserve sympathy. Idk, I'm overthinking this.
What I LOVE about this is that the producers/creators could've asked for something upbeat, something epic or superdramatic with drums and the whole gig, but they knew what a tragic moment this actually was and wanted the viewers to not only see it but FEEL it as they watched. You can hear the anguish in the strings, the pain in the crack of drums as brother and sister, two children, are forced to face and possibly kill each other. It is an Epic rivalled not even by the Iliad or Aenead, a tragedy that not even Shakespeare could match. It is a beautifully crafted, artfully woven beauty in terms of storytelling. Beautifully said. I'd like to add that it was truly heart breaking to me, that after Kitara ran to Zuko, the look on Azula's face. Honestly I think the original was perfect on its own, no other version can beat it for the sheer emotion and drive it carried. Even without the animation playing with it its just hitting the right spots. But that said, these "versions" I see composers making of it are still worth listening to, not because they are attempting to better it, but because they are paying homage to a true masterpiece by adding their own flair and twist to it. And I appreciate the subtle differences, they are similar but not the same, like humanity. We are all similar, but not the same. Whether you be man or woman, tall or small, white or black, skinny or fat, we all are cut from the same cloth, and woven into our own lives in our unique spices of life.
I always think back to when Azula finally realizes she's been defeated and snaps. All of that rage and pain fueling the blue fire from her mouth. If those flames could talk, they would have a lot to say.
People meme about how short the series would have been if someone just gave Zuko a hug... But that's not true... Not at all. Zuko might have had a shit father, but he had a mother that was willing to kill for him, and an uncle who was willing to die for him, and friends that fought by his side even after everything he had done to them. Azula had none of that. Her father groomed her to be a perfect lapdog for the Fire Nation after he became the ruler of the world. A mother who thought at the very least she was disturbed, and did nothing to help her, rather she scolded her at every attempt for attention and affection she was never allowed from her father without some sort of show of skill first. A brother who was raised to envy her every action, and hate her for outperforming him in schoolings and in bending. An uncle who decided to side with the brother who left her for the Avatar, and to top that all of, the only people she thought were not only completely loyal to her not out of fear but trust, possibly more than that in Ty Lee's case, betrayed her because they cared more about her brother and each other than they did her. And when the comet came, she was swept aside, even though she did everything that was asked of her to PERFECTION... She spoke out of turn, and she was terrified that her own father would burn her and cast her out, just like he did to Zuko. And that broke her... And what did Zuko do after she was captured? He put her in a mental ward, that I can guarantee did more harm than good if we assume her treatment was any worse than what happened to schizoids in the 1950s in America... Every single person in the world was against her, and not even the Avatar and his friends were willing to help her up until after she'd lost it. Maybe if Zuko knew what his father was going to treat her like him, she could have been convinced to leave, or be their insider to stop the war in the end. Maybe if when they fought at the Western Air Temple, instead of simply watching as she nearly fell to her death, the Gaang could have tried to save her... She wasn't a monster. She was a terrified 14 year old girl... And maybe if somebody, anybody just gave her a hug, all of the death and pain we've seen could have been avoided.
I'm 0:08 seconds in and I've already got goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Holy shit this battle is still the most breathtaking and tragic moment I've ever experienced
So emotional... Why did Azula have to be treated like that? Imagine her on Team Avatar, her and Zuzu, working together. They would have been unstoppable... Imagine how different the series would've been.
@@Heseys.11 He was the fourth best fire bender in the entire Fire Nation which ultimately was a tie in strength and skill as none of them ever actually just fought the other in a straight up fair fight, infiltrated three highly secure Fire Nation fortresses and an Earth kingdom one undetected, was a master of swords who was so good that he was able to disable all of his opponents without killing them, and incorporated numerous other bending forms from memory to fit his own.
@@Heseys.11 to be honest, Zuko was a prodigy, maybe not on Azula’s level, but a true prodigy. If we go deep into lore, Fire Chakra is blocked by shame so than combined with Zuko being a late bloomer (which doesn’t mean weaker, just that the power emerges a bit later than expected) explains why Zuko was seemed weaker than he really was. His father, grandfather and the Fire Sages doubted him since his birth, he was the shame of the Fire Nation, until he developed his late blooming bending, but by then the damage was already done. Zuko had his Fire Chakra blocked, and throughout the three seasons he, thanks mainly to Iroh, manages to cleanse the Fire Chakra and reveal his true potential. A strong argument would be how he manages to bend Dragons Fire, being the first firebender to ever do it, with only seeing it once. He also learned lightning redirection very fast and redirected a whole fkn laser (Ozai’s monstrous lightning) in his first attempt. Zuko was also the first firebender to showcase complete jet propulsion without Comet amp (Azula never properly flight) doing so at night and carrying the Earth King. Even before he was already a pretty strong bender, beating a high ranking admiral in an Agni Kai or using Iroh’s fire breath (which seems to be a extremely rare and hard techinique as only Iroh and Zuko mastered it and it countered Fire Benders weakest point, extreme cold)

i think i connect to azula deeply cause i relate to her as feeling to present yourself as the perfect daughter to make your parents proud. in a way she never stopped fighting for her father's respect and zuko was able to overcome it and fight for his own believes. she was truly trapped all her life and could never escape that hell their father built for both of them. i love her.
This has always been one of my favorite songs from the entire show. It’s just so simple but shows so much emotion and it’s glorious. You can’t argue that this isn’t one of the heavier more emotional songs in the series and I honestly love that about it.
So long ago when I first saw this episode, I got chills all over my body and I felt the heaviness of the story. This does the same. Well done. Your version makes me travel into the past.
Guys look I'm tear bending! I can manage to get tears to come out of my eyes! What a newly made and voluntary ability I've developed! No! I'm not crying! It's tear bending!
The music is one of the main reasons, why it was so perfect. No epic wild music and crazy stuff happening, it was just two siblings, a brother and his sister, that were dragged into a long brutal and merciless war with a family that is completely broken and it has reminded me and probably many other people how tragic this scene actually is🤧
This has to be the most tragic action sequence ever. They spent all those episodes making me hate Azula, only to make me weep for her in the end. Sociopaths CAN be taught empathy, but she never had a chance because her family was so screwed up by the decisions of her various ancestors.
This is such an incredible arrangement, I love it to bits! And I also love that you included both the track with and without the piano! The dissonance between the violin, the cello and the strings, the solemn rhythm provided by the drums and the tragedy symbolized by the choir... The requiem for a severed sibling relationship indeed... 🖤🔥
Powerful song. Its sorrowful as the idea of brother and sister fighting in such a manner (to the death) is considered a tragedy, the death of sibling love. Its one of the most intense fights in the entire series and is the crowning achevement of Zuko's development, he shrugs off the shame of his family, he becomes his own story and finds his own path. And in place of his families cold and brutal nature he shows compassion and mercy when none was ever gonna be given to him. The fight between Zuko and his lost sister, is by far one of the most powerful and rewarding story climaxes in animation, not based on visual but based on the meaning and character writing. I would rank it up there with climatic fights on demon slayer episode 19, almights fight with nomu.
Music doesn't usually make me cry, but I did while listening to this. It was so emotionally and... I can't find the words needed to describe this. I loved it, well done
omg this song... they are siblings, they were supose to support each other, help each other, protect each other...and they end up figting trying to kill themselfs
It's quite odd how much of a reflection it is on the past. Zuko and Azula have the same great grandparents. Yet both of them took on completely different sides. Azula took the side of Sozin, the side of destruction. Zuko took the side of Roku, the side of peace. It shows how both siblings took extremely different paths, yet still end up as a reflection of the past, of an old quarrel between those who were considered family in some way or another. But this time, the ending would truly be the deciding variable of what happens to the future of the fire nation. It's scary, yet truly amazing all at the same time.
this piece of art is the moment that decides the fate of the world of avatar if azula has won zuko would have died but ofc water is best and katara would have bloodbended. but this is true it happens to me everyday with my sister we fight a lot XD.
I wish i could have loved Azula and Rehabilitated her and Redeemed her. The very same way Batman Redeemed Cassandra Cain and showed her what it's like to be loved and held, Because all Azula really needed was to be Loved the same way Zuko was by Iroh. Imagine how great her Redemption would have been!!. Villain turn Hero, but the true tragedy here is that it never happened for her. Never to be reborn from the Ashes unlike her Brother.
I think that Azula was far from her 100%, cus the only source of her power was anger, and on the agni, she had more doubt and sadness than her power itself.
The perfect soundtrack for the series finale. The 2 brothers of fire in a last combat that would not only define the destiny of the 4 nations. If not, it is also a parallel with the previous avatar and the opportunity for Zuko to finally break the chain of hatred that ended up corrupting his sister (jm jm older jm jm) if not for little him. just perfect music.

I can't even begin to express how happy I am that avatar is popular again
Excuse me, when was it not?
Only ever got more popular, my dude. ATLA fans are for life.
Yea I don't think it ever stopped 😭 but it is being looked at more 🥺 people love a good story and I appreciate them for it 😩
I always think back to when Azula finally realizes she's been defeated and snaps. All of that rage and pain fueling the blue fire from her mouth. If those flames could talk, they would have a lot to say.
The Agni Kai scene is so emotional but beautifully animated and choreographed
This do be sad. No epic battle music, just a sad tale of two siblings fighting to the death because of their father who never loved them
The writers of Avatar did one hell of a job with the story, and the production team made it even better. It's unbelievable how good Avatar is
Why are the most beautiful things always the tragic things?
I love that people are still making amazing content like this for the series, it deserves so much respect. It's so close to my heart.
So emotional... Why did Azula have to be treated like that? Imagine her on Team Avatar, her and Zuzu, working together. They would have been unstoppable... Imagine how different the series would've been.
So many people searched for a version of the OST in the first 30 seconds of the fight. You just gave us what we always wanted. Thank you for that!
"My father said Azula was born lucky, he said I was lucky to be born".
This instrumental is the definition of beautiful and emotional. Love this series. Will always be in my heart.
Such epic feelings all in one beautiful song, my favorite part was the drums
Hey! It's you again!
Remember me?
They both were prodigious we just got to see Zukos Struggles.
Agni's chosen to liberate his Nation...the spirits are seldom kind.
C'mon zuko wasn't so prodigious
One of my fav battle scene the fight between the siblings the talented (Azula) and the hard working person (Zuko). Keep up the good work!
Samuel Kim finally has a competitor I see
One of my favorite tracks from the series along with Avatar's Love and Leaves from the Vine. Amazingly done.
broo that fight was just different.
easily one of the top animated moments from the show
I believe it is one of the best cartoon. So much wisdom can be found in every single episode. Definitely must be shown to children
You released this on my birthday. Sounds awesome!
Happy birthday!

03-04-2021: Thanks a lot for the amazing response to this! This track was at 2k views last week and since I was kinda expecting that due to the nature of my channel it was a great surprise to see it having so much attention lately! Welcome to everyone who has subbed from this video. Hope you enjoy your stay!
I thought the piano made it sound too much like dark souls but I really liked it so have both versions with and without piano uwu. Thanks a lot to @Saintcinder for letting me use his amazing portrait of azula for this.

Dood, good job on that incredible theme! I did indeed had a bit of darksouls 3 vibe when I heard the extension of the last Agni Kai theme, it's fitting so well!
Dude you literally made me cry! I was bawling by the time the violins kicked in... I hope you get to produce music for avatar studios! =D
All the simps are here because Azula is on the pic lmaooo (not me calling myself out), you did a great job with the music, I love it :00
This is great, really it is, and I hate to be that guy alas it must be said your ad right a the end of this, and the hour-long version, *shatters* this piece for me.
There's plenty of alternatives where to listen to it
I just finished rewatching Avatar today with my family. I'm really happy we got to experience it together, especially this scene (and most importantly Uncle Iroh).
WHERE HAS THIS BEEN MY ENTIRE LIFE
dude the feels when i first watched this was so immense bro. Literally legendary to the fullest. People say this isn't an anime but who the hell cares. The soundtrack is way better than any anime ive watched. I dont wanna watch some happy Opening to an anime and then get the feels later. avatar knew bout this. They better do good on the Yasuke anime on netflix
imagine closing your eyes to listen to this epic, tragic masterpiece on headphones and suddenly the advertise music comes on and shatters your eardrums
That's why it's available on other platforms uwu and also yt music
Man i swear i havent watched avatar since 7 years or more, but i will NEVER forget the last Agni Kai between Azula and Zuko
i think i connect to azula deeply cause i relate to her as feeling to present yourself as the perfect daughter to make your parents proud. in a way she never stopped fighting for her father's respect and zuko was able to overcome it and fight for his own believes. she was truly trapped all her life and could never escape that hell their father built for both of them.
*"my own mother thought I was a monster..."*
*"She was right, of course. But it still hurt."* 🌚
Guys look I'm tear bending! I can manage to get tears to come out of my eyes! What a newly made and voluntary ability I've developed! No! I'm not crying! It's tear bending!
Avatar öyle bir andır ki izlerken birisine gülersin ama olaya üzülürsün ve dizinin tamamı seni sarar (bu dizi bir muhteşem.😭)
The music is one of the main reasons, why it was so perfect. No epic wild music and crazy stuff happening, it was just two siblings, a brother and his sister, that were dragged into a long brutal and merciless war with a family that is completely broken and it has reminded me and probably many other people how tragic this scene actually is🤧
Hope we can see more of azula now that there is avatar studios more series and movies and content in the future i hope they animate the comics :3
and I hope they leave azula's story like this. She completed a cycle and was one of the best antagonists in history. leave her alone.
This has to be the most tragic action sequence ever. They spent all those episodes making me hate Azula, only to make me weep for her in the end.
Sociopaths CAN be taught empathy, but she never had a chance because her family was so screwed up by the decisions of her various ancestors.
The feelings and tragedy comes again.
Nice work sincerely.
it's filled up with so much emotion ...
Why this doesn't have more likes? This totally deserve thousands of likes!
Poor Azula did not deserve the life she lead until today xxx
I love Azula , she was dying inside 😔🖤
no ... she was never really alive, she was just a wolf in sheep's clothing, proving what she really was.
The moment when Azula realized she had lost.
"Reeahhhhhhhh" (blue flames go eveywhere)
Avatar > Every other cartoon
Zuko, regained every last ounce of his honor in this arc.
Avatar is a fxcking legend man!
Every time I see something about the avatar, I want to watch it all over again
it gets better each time i rewatch it
“No lightning today? What’s wrong? Afraid I’ll redirect it?”
This is how Azula was going to celebrate becoming an only child
SERIOUSLY underrated! this deserves AT LEAST 100k. This is amazing!
I had a goosebump watching this particular scene as a kid. I'm still having it now.
No one can love or hate with more passion than a mad person
I would rank it up there with climatic fights on demon slayer episode 19, almights fight with nomu.
this sound always gives me goose bumps, since i first hear the song in Avatar.
I finished watching avatar for the first time today. Man, am I glad I finally did.
I like that I can still hear Azula’s dings.
Zuko and Azula are two of my favorite characters from ATLA. So different and motivated in their own opposing ways. Fire at it's best
Love all your work jafet! Incredible job
They really should keep making cartoons with good plotlines like this my generation could take it this generation can too
Everytime I hear this I get flash backs to the good old times
I am literally crying over this masterpiece! It is so astoundingly perfect!
This scene always destroys me. I feel for Zuko and the rawness of Azula’s insanity is overwhelming.
The child who was lost
vs
The child who is broken
Waiting for this with a lot of hype
This is pretty good omg, I have the chills during the entire song. ❤️❤️
Music doesn't usually make me cry, but I did while listening to this. It was so emotionally and... I can't find the words needed to describe this. I loved it, well done
There is an extra joint in Azula's fingers here
But it looks witchy
omg this song... they are siblings, they were supose to support each other, help each other, protect each other...and they end up figting trying to kill themselfs
The first note already gives me goosebumps. So many feels
Incredible, masterfully done, work of art
It's quite odd how much of a reflection it is on the past. Zuko and Azula have the same great grandparents. Yet both of them took on completely different sides. Azula took the side of Sozin, the side of destruction. Zuko took the side of Roku, the side of peace. It shows how both siblings took extremely different paths, yet still end up as a reflection of the past, of an old quarrel between those who were considered family in some way or another. But this time, the ending would truly be the deciding variable of what happens to the future of the fire nation.
It's scary, yet truly amazing all at the same time.
this got me when i heard this i was like HOLY SHIT THIS SHOW CANT STOP
This should probably be called "Last Agni-Kai: Dark Souls Version"
The words spoken in the background make me think of Nier: Automata's soundtrack.
Good stuff.
it's just some whispers :p no words there thanks!
This art+the song r so good
this piece of art is the moment that decides the fate of the world of avatar if azula has won zuko would have died but ofc water is best and katara would have bloodbended. but this is true it happens to me everyday with my sister we fight a lot XD.
Her hands are freakishly huge
they represent her power
I think that Azula was far from her 100%, cus the only source of her power was anger, and on the agni, she had more doubt and sadness than her power itself.
I have been waiting this for a whole ten years thanks
The perfect soundtrack for the series finale.
The 2 brothers of fire in a last combat that would not only define the destiny of the 4 nations. If not, it is also a parallel with the previous avatar and the opportunity for Zuko to finally break the chain of hatred that ended up corrupting his sister (jm jm older jm jm) if not for little him. just perfect music.
