Guys I'm from Italy. This is a great, powerful, emotional song. Love the voice, the overall sound, the guitar, the lyrics. Spotify placed this song in a radio based on The Dropkick Murphys that I created. I'd love to see you live
When I came home from the Anzio shore Got me a job at a Shiretown store I married up quick, we had the one son My limit was hit and my race was run We raised him right We put him through school With a gentle embrace and an iron rule Our world was shattered when we lost our son To the business end of a gangster's gun How do you go from a burned out light To chasing anonymous ships in the night? How do you live with a lingering ghost? Oh, with a run on the banks Oh, with a run on the banks When they buried my boy of twenty-two years I swore I'd do more than choke on my tears So I hardened up my heart, I took up the oath And looked for ways to avenge us both Me and his mother, we never were the same She left me one spring and I am to blame Forgot about living, forgot about her Forgot about love and the way things were How do you go from a burned out light To chasing anonymous ships in the night? How do you live with a lingering ghost? Oh, with a run on the banks Oh, with a run on the banks Sixteen guns, twenty-five kilos A couple thousand rounds when we run her aground Crew bailed out and headed for the hills With a barrel of blow and a mountain of pills No arrest in her majesty's waters No victory for the mothers and fathers Of the young and the damned The guilty walk free To continue their trade on a cruel black sea How do you go from a burned out light To chasing anonymous ships in the night? How do you live with a lingering ghost? Oh, with a run on the banks Oh, with a run on the banks
@@HardcoreIPA i have pretty much the same accent as the band, since i'm from the same region as them, and i really hear burned out light. it rhymes with ships in the night, and you can hear the emphasis on "out" when he sings the line
I don’t ever comment on RUclips but this made me go back and listen to Ghost of year eastern seaboard. That is the coolest connection in music. I hope they continue on with a subliminal story or something with other albums. Im actually sitting here in amazement as I just found The Stanfields last week and have been going through their stuff on a playlist with flogging molly, the real mackenzies, drop kick and others.
@@bluecollarpursuit6899 you should try Fiddlers Green German but sure as hell sound irish (or, Boston irish if you will) Or Orthodox Celts from Serbia ..
I doubt it, the guy in this song mentions Anzio--I'm assuming that's a reference to the battle of Anzio during World War II and not just a visit there, and in Ghost of the Eastern Seaboard they reference "A 21st century unemployed man" so that'd be an exceptionally old coast guardsman if that's the case.
Boy am i glad Spotify suggested this band. What a badass song!
Same xD
Im a brown kid in Cali and these Canadians get down
I'm from N.S. seen em perform twice and always feel that sense of pride when l hear a Stanfields song.
I AM NOVA SCOTIAN LOVE THE STANFIELDS

I believe it's "Berhnardt line", not "burned out light"
@@HardcoreIPA it's burned out light, to rhyme with ships in the night
@@celeri6497 on Spotify it's Berhnardt line...wich would make sens given the reference to Anzio. Not sure though

This is music!.. This should really get more attention. Fuggin' awesome 👍
Love this song
Brilliant love them much
seen them in Bathurst...Excellent
Doesn't get any better. 💪
Awesome!!!
Always thought it was 'How do you go from a burnt-out light' lol, knowing Bernhardt Line the song makes a lot more sense.
Great gig at Dranouter last weekend, guys! Loved it!
Idd. Was er ook :-)
Very nice song!🤘
What a great song.remind me of Steve Earle's devil's right hand.
My Killigans station on Pandora brought me to these guys. Good job Pandora.
A good one!❤
Fun fact this song and their song ghost of the eastern seaboard are part of a story
Yup. The brother of the protagonist in this song, is a smuggler in Ghosts. Essentially, his smuggling is the cause of his nephews death
If I were to pick a "Best Stanfields Song", it's between this and "The Boston States". It's so close it's a damn toss up.
Agreed, both are great songs! Next up, Mrs. McGrath, Federal Hall, Ship To Shore, Invisible Hands, Jimmy No More,....
Ghost on the Eastern Seashore
Southlands
So underrated.

Is there a story why this picture (March revolution 1848 in Berlin) for the album cover was chosen?
they fuckin rock
Do you guys think that this song is about the brother mentioned in Ghost of the Eastern Seaboard?
