      Nah. All alcoholic drinks should be "sniffed". That's the part of drinking “culture”. We, Polish people, are just victims of influence of soviet savagery.
      They basically drank tasteless ethanol with water, just to get hammered, forgot about their own misery and also because they didn’t have money or technology to produce more complicated beverages.
      While everyone else was drinking to enjoy their time together and only get really drunk at the end of that meeting/party/event.
      So saying _”You don’t smell the vodka.”_ is just stupid acknowledging sad fact of communists destroying our pre-war alcohol industry and drinking culture.

    • @jormungand810

      @@kh4670 Ok, but you are talking about Żubrówka and Krupnik (czysta - clean or biała -white) vodka wich is mostly the main alkohol on polish weddings. And its normal you drink it with "popita" i.e. something to drink after the shot like juice or cola. Żubrówka z trawą ( żubrówka with bison grass) on the film is the best with apple juice and sometimes with cucumber in drink (but its my opinion). And last but not least like my pre speaker said the best vodka is cold vodka.

    We, Poles have got the very special alcohol called "made in the light of the moon" (księżycówka). It means made from two kilo of sugar, one kilo of wild pears and five liters of boiled water. At first, mix smashed pears with sugar and then cover them with water. Ad wait when this liquid will be ripe. It means - yeast turns sugar into alcohol. Then you need a special machine: the tightly covered pot with a pipe installed. Inside you can slowly cook (not allowing to boil - circa 60 to 80 °C). Alkohol will evaporate first in temerature 78,37 °C. And the pipe instaled in pot must be connected to a "cooler" - a rolled pipe (glass, copper or stainless steel). That's because the alcohol vapors must condense somewhere. So, this pipe must be immersed horizontally in cool water. Finally, a clarifier (a special container where bad ingredients will separate from alcohol) will be useful. Or two. When the mash reaches over 80, just set the flame so that the drip speed is constant. It is worth tasting alcohol with your finger and checking its strength. And voila! Alcohol is ready! BUT! In its pure state it can kill. Therefore, it should be diluted. And taste it.

    I am from Poland and I can tell you something - Żywiec is cheap, but pretty good beer, Żubrówka is strange vodka, because you love it, or you hate it (I hate :D), Lubelska is drinked mostly by people addicted of alcohol, because its taste isn't so good, but you can feel % clearly xd About honey vodka Krupnik I can't tell you much, because no one of my friends drinks it, I haven't tried it yet. That's all, just short explanation :)

    • @tomaszkurek4311
      @tomaszkurek4311 8 лет назад +22

      Żywiec is cheap - indeed - but I wouldn't call it pretty good beer. In fact, it's not even a good beer. Żywiec is international lager or - as you like to call it this way - eurolager. What does it mean? It means it should taste like water with a little taste of alcohol. You even can't smell any hops in it because there's a little of them - the only aroma Żywiec got is malt and alcohol. Don't get me wrong - I don't think lager is something bad even if I prefer styles like India Pale Ale or Stout. Yesterday I tried to drink Perfect Lager from Doctor Brew and it's pretty good lager - you can smell hops, taste is much more than water with alcohol. I prefer spending more money (it costs 5-7 zł) to drink one amazing beer like this than buy 4 weak beers for the same money.
      So... If you would like to taste some beers, you could buy Żywiec. If you would like to taste some good beer, you should drink something brewed by Doctor Brew, Pinta, Artezan, AleBrowar, Raduga or Inne Beczki. It's more expensive but worth it!

    • @KillStyle97
      @KillStyle97 8 лет назад +10

    I see I need to explain a bit about Żubrówka :D. Actually "żubrówka" or "turówka wonna" is a grass (Hierochloë odorata). It has a very specific scent thanks to coumarin. Sometimes you can feel it when you're on a field (a bit marshy field) and grass is freshly cut. A blade of that grass is put inside bottle with 40% rye vodka. So the coumarin goes into the liquid giving it unique flavor. Many people in Poland made a drink: appel juice + Żubrówka. This drink is called "Byk w sadzie" (Bull in the orchard).

      also irish shite doesnt taste like cheap shite. try guinness. you wanna try cheap shite im sorry to say try some canadian whiskeys we make some good ones but 90% of them these days are shite, similar to bourbon style whiskeys with blended grains but our government fucked up and let them make shit disgusting, you can distill each grain separate and they can be made like neutral grain spirit instead of whiskey and up to 9% additives that isnt alcohol or water just color and flavor. now good blended whiskey exists thats easy to see, and good canadian whiskey as well.
      sorry but you probably tries something bad. and also vodka is absolutely disgusting so i dont blame them. shits only good mixed in orange juice for getting smashed. or in a screaming blue motherfucker with a shit load of other alcohols.

    Zubrowka needs to be kept in a freezer overnight. It becomes kind of like a liquid gel and then it tastes the properly good. Ad cold apple juice to flavor.

    And one more thing - Żubrówka (Bison grass) is fantastic with apple juice ;) 1/3

    • @KrzysiuNet
      @KrzysiuNet 8 лет назад

      In fact most stores sells that, but it's rarely drank by people. I know that some metalheads used it when they wanted to drink on Metalmania where it was disallowed (since 2004 I guess). It's more efficient to smuggle bottle of pure alcohol and then add water. I might be wrong, but I think that some people here drink it to hide their habit. You can drink 200 ml in no time and it's like 500 ml of vodka, so... I drank it once and no difference between it and vodka. Both caused "omg omg omg". And of course it's used for making own liquors etc.
