The ray-tracing mode looks sooooooo good on PS5. There is a depth to the scenery that just is not there in the other modes due to the extra ambient shading and global lighting. Will definitely be playing the game that way on both my PS5 and PC with shared save games since this build also supports that feature which is cool. Already have 300+ hours on this game. Looking forward to replaying it from the start since it has been a long time since I have played it.
Agreed, ambient occlusion alone does so much to ground the scene for me plus I am a sucker for the tech. Really hope it's a locked 30 on release though
That PS4 pro is well optimized. I did hear that its actually one of the most optimized consoles to date. I'm glad I'm giving that console to my brother or sister for Christmas. Still great console
i wish they kept more of the wavy/stormy water of the original...i also liked the stronger winds/moving foliage of the original made the world appear more alive, although those are sadly things gamers used to complain about and likely part of the reason they changed it
I’ve started playing through the upgrade and ray tracing mode looks awful on my PS5. The frame rate makes it feel clunky and fuzzy. 🤷🏼♀️ Performance mode is absolutely amazing.
Hey Guys! Which mode do you think has higher crowd density? It seems to me that RT mode, but couldn't find any info that would confirm that. Do you know about this stuff?
I really don't like the reflections on the water in Ray-Tracing mode. Everything looks low resolution and blurry, its harder to see the waves, and there's slight blue lines where the water interacts with the ground, not found in pPerformance mode. So for Ray-Tracing, it seems you get blurrier water, darker shadows, lower resolution, and an unsteady 30fps. In comparison, Performance mode gets you nicer water but screenspaced and lighter shadows, for a higher resolution and 60fps. Totally worth it.
Does anyone else find water pretty underwhelming in RT mode? I actually find the performance mode version better at the first glance. The RT water surface seems way too smooth and static. The “old” W3 water is just awful, looks extremely oily. Old Skyrim has better water than that.
From what I remember the Xbox one x code already as a unlocked framerate with a unlocked resolution mode that hits close to 4k/60 when played on series x, wondering what improvements this new patch will bring over that one
Better assets, better textures, lightning, ray tracing mode, draw distance, gameplay features like new camera angles. Just compare the different version in the video. It's very noticiable
Series X version will likely run a little worse than One X version running on Series X. I hope we can keep the One X version after the next gen one comes out
Is the next gen version a patch or a separate app on Series X ? Because if the framerate actually drops in Novigrad on next gen version, I'd like to keep access to the Xbox One X version to get a silky smooth 60fps.

i can't downlaod the next gen on ps4, i own the old gen (game of the year edition) , please how did u download it ?
@@progrown3589 while on the home screen I went to The Witcher 3 and then press Option button, choose Search for updates and that's what I did.
@@MrKutKuGaruga96 okay, so that means i need to download the old version first before having the option to download the next gen update right?
@@progrown3589you can’t get it on ps4, it’s for next gen consoles only

Love your videos. Thanks for effort you put in to making these videos.
ray traciong mode looks beatiful only way to play
6:26 The water make me so emotional, finally...
But looks more blurry, lower resolution
That PS4 pro is well optimized. I did hear that its actually one of the most optimized consoles to date. I'm glad I'm giving that console to my brother or sister for Christmas. Still great console
i wish they kept more of the wavy/stormy water of the original...i also liked the stronger winds/moving foliage of the original made the world appear more alive, although those are sadly things gamers used to complain about and likely part of the reason they changed it
Is ps4 getting update too?
@@Nobodysurvivesevenonebit the bug fixes and extra netflix content yes, but obviously not the visual upgrades with RT
@@melxb but the visual improved? I meant not like rtx but visual improved a lot?
They murdered the wind effects!
Is it just me or does Performance mode somehow look better than RT mode in a lot of instances?
I’ve started playing through the upgrade and ray tracing mode looks awful on my PS5. The frame rate makes it feel clunky and fuzzy. 🤷🏼♀️ Performance mode is absolutely amazing.
Ray-Tracing Mode on PS5 makes water flat?
Been waiting for this one!
Hey Guys! Which mode do you think has higher crowd density? It seems to me that RT mode, but couldn't find any info that would confirm that. Do you know about this stuff?
Thanks for this! Will there be a High on Life comparison? 🤩
Wow I thought ps5 resolution would be a lot higher its not even 1440p in the rt mode
The colors look a bit different with Ray-Tracing turned on. But i stil prefere 60FPS mode.
The vegetation upgrade is huge
I miss the stronger wind from the vanilla version. I see this as a downgrade. Everything else looks superb!
Am i the only one that likes the lighting better in performance vs Ray tracing!?
Music?
Does anyone else find water pretty underwhelming in RT mode? I actually find the performance mode version better at the first glance. The RT water surface seems way too smooth and static. The “old” W3 water is just awful, looks extremely oily. Old Skyrim has better water than that.
Im noticing they have defo toned down the wind indoors, that was all i wanted. The update looks beautiful though, guess im replaying this over xmas.
Is the XSS sub 1080p at 60fps🙏
Not sure if RT is worth both the frame rate hit AND the resolution hit tbh. Might have used that mode if it was one or the other
Please what is the name of music ?
From what I remember the Xbox one x code already as a unlocked framerate with a unlocked resolution mode that hits close to 4k/60 when played on series x, wondering what improvements this new patch will bring over that one
Just overall higher graphical settings, comparable to ULTRA on PC. I think the resolution will be lower on average however.
Better assets, better textures, lightning, ray tracing mode, draw distance, gameplay features like new camera angles. Just compare the different version in the video. It's very noticiable
Series X version will likely run a little worse than One X version running on Series X. I hope we can keep the One X version after the next gen one comes out
@@ThibautMahringeryes, but with mich higher graphics...
Of course, but some people (such as myself) prioritize performance and no frame drops over graphics.
Trees look much better now, thank goodness. The OG Witcher 3 has really wacky looking vegetation.
What’s the name of the song?
why did they lessen the hair movement in the newer ports?
Damn, the changes are quite substantial for a remaster. Like the vegetation and forest bits blew my mind.
What's the music in the background? I must know!!
Best comparison till date! Well done.
Were you playing the release version of the game technically? Wondering if they might make some tweaks for performance for the release version.
That flute instrumental is so damn dope 😎👍
Where's Xbox, PC and Switch version dude?
Does the perfomance mode surely have better resolution than the rt mode?
yep
What about NPC density? I believe that on console was lower than on PC. Thanks
One of the chilliest beats I've heard.
I was kinda bopping to it😂
Anyone know the title? Thank you
MUSIC NAME PLS , SHAZAM CAN NOT FIND
Amazing!! Clear choice to go w performance mode!
Is the next gen version a patch or a separate app on Series X ? Because if the framerate actually drops in Novigrad on next gen version, I'd like to keep access to the Xbox One X version to get a silky smooth 60fps.
Sadly, you cannot get One X version on SX since it got Next-Gen upgrade((
So you can't keep both ? Sad...
@@ThibautMahringeryes((
The vegetation in RT-Mode looks so much better to bad it is just 30FPS.
