  • There’s been a lot of discussion about Caitlin Clark so far this season, but number two overall pick Cameron Brink is already making a big impact in los angeles. Sure, she’s not putting up huge scoring numbers, but her defense has been as good as advertised if not better. Through her first three games, she’s out here looking like prime Ben Wallace, and will be in the running for defensive player of the year as a rookie. She’s averaged 3.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game, while having an absurd 88.9 defensive rating. She’s also holding opponents to just 35% from the field in the paint, which feels like it shouldn’t even be possible. She’s getting blocks on reigning finals MVP A’Ja Wilson, and doesn’t seem scared of anyone. On Tuesday night she finished with three steals and four blocks, including the game-winning block at the end. The offense still has a ways to go with her, but the defense and rebounding is already at a very impressive level. There’s nothing about her game that feels like a rookie, and it’s just crazy to see it this polished three games into her pro career. It will only get better from this point as well, as she’s nowhere near her prime yet. Her arrival as a celebrity is also impressive, as she’s met Shohei Ohtani and was just on Paul George’s podcast. It’s just another sign that the women’s game is on the up and up. It feels a lot like Victor Wembanyama on the NBA side, where he came in and was maybe the most impactful defensive player in the league as a rookie. He didn’t win defensive player of the year, but that was mostly because his team was bad. Like Wemby, it feels like Brink could be set to be the best defensive player in the league for a decade or more, and it’s just getting started. Cameron Brink is already a defensive menace.
Think about subbing, I'm on the road to 14k!!!

Shes the best looking player in the league. Shes the reason I started watching this season. Caitlin Clark is a bonus! But yeah Cameron was fine in college and in the wnba shes a 10/10 cuz the wnba players are mostly gay so a cute straight girl really stands out.

Perfect player for the LA market aside from her abilities

Wemby didn't get the DPOY because they spread awards around. He'll definitely get DPOY and not MVP even if he deserves MVP. He could get the best aware imaginable every year for his first three years. We're looking at a year's long backlog for Wemby awards. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here. If she gets her scoring up, then Brink has the same problem as Wemby for the next few years.
