Even though she appeared as an optional character in the original Final Fantasy 7, Yuffie Kisaragi has featured in almost every part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 (Before Crisis, Advent Children + Dirge of Cerberus). This has helped to build-out her character, explaining her obsession with Materia and her quest to restore Wutai to its former glory!
Throughout this video, we'll run-through the tense relationship Yuffie had with her father, exploring the crucial role she played in the defeat of Sephiroth and hopefully providing some context for when she's eventually revealed in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Yuffie was and still is just favorite character in FFVII, along with Vincent. I was a teenager when I played the game and I tended to identify with her spunky attitude. I am very looking forward to seeing her fleshed out in the remake, because I felt she deserved a better treatment. Can’t wait to see it.
I love that encounter with Zack and Yuffie. Most other SOLDIERs would have grabbed her to use against Wutai and jump ranks, but he didn't want to hurt or scare her. And let her win.
Yuffie better not be just optional in this game. Vincent too.
Havent got a ps5 but watched the intergrade chapters and I like how yuffie was handled. Her fighting style looked great. I think its safe to say Vincent will also get some love probably in part 2 since I'd wager it will at least go till the forgotten city. But will have to wait and see. That's just where I think a good song point would be. But I suppose if they make every area as vast as part 1 did it might end at nibbleheim which should still let us at least see Vincent in part 2
Yuffie might be the only party member that Aerith can openly talk to about Zack, Cloud is a no go because even mentioning Zack screws with his head and Tifa is avoiding the subject to protect Cloud. The sidequests in cc reinforce that despite knowing Yuffie was manipulating him Zack still always went to make sure she was safe. It'd be really nice to see that play in to remake depending on what timeline Zack ends up in it gives Yuffie yet another plot thread which is already looking substantial.
I wonder if Zack and Yuffie will still remember each other in the Remake?

I've always found Yuffie and the whole Wutai War subplot fascinating. I'm glad it's getting so much exploration now after all these years.

I have to admit, I've always loved Yuffie, she is just so much fun! A great contrast to the very serious way that the story evolved. And I love the Wutai sidequest, it adds so much to the world.
Damn, Yuffie's backstory is sad. For an optional character, she's got a lot of backstory. Same with Vincent.

And, IMO, she also has the saddest and most heartbreaking reaction to Aerith's death (followed by Tifa). The way she tries to give Aerith's body a "warrior's salute" and then tries to comfort Cloud while visibly trying to hold back tears, but then her seeing just how hurt and broken Cloud is by Aerith's death, it ends up shattering what's left of her resolve and she just breaks down in tears while Cloud at least tries to hold and comfort her.
After all, Yuffie is by far the youngest party member, being just 16 years old, while Cloud is 21, and Tifa is 20. Vincent is the oldest party member at 57 (though, physically, he is only 27), followed by Red XIII being 48 (though among his own kind he is still technically a teenager). Barret is then next at 35, and Cid is 3 years younger at 32. And then Aerith is just 1 year older than Cloud at 22.
Interestingly enough, Sephiroth isn't that much older than Cloud, he is only 6 years older than Cloud is, at just 27, making him older than Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, & Yuffie, but younger than Cid, Barret, Red XIII, & Vincent (though Vincent and Sephiroth are physically the same age).

haven't watched the video, plan to later. But Yuffie was originally going to be part of the love triangle with Cloud and Aerith, but that was changed much later in development. She was super important to the story before they created Tifa using aspects of Aerith and Yuffie (Aerith was the childhood friend, Yuffie was the bartender for example)

This almost happened to me on my playthrough recently. Those birds outside Wutai deal nasty damage.
I think she also stole my Phoenix down because I couldn't find them until she returned to the party. I was playing with some friends and was like against the boss.
Me: Wait where is my phoenix down? I can't find it.
Friend: Don't she stole your things?
Me: ... I will make her pay for that
and that is the story of how Yuffie stayed in my party for the rest of the game, was my MVP since that moment, destroyed Emerald Weapon and killed Sephiroth in one cicle

And now, having played Rebirth, Yuffie has unexpectedly become one of my all time favourite FF characters.
My final party always includes cloud, cid, and yuffie. Death of the living, paired with decent strength, speed and magic. She's a great character.

Just finished playing FF7RI, and man, Yuffie shot up to one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Her story is 6 hours tops, and it's a better story and game then most of the other garbage out there. Definitely play through it if you haven't.
I'm not gonna lie, Yuffie is one of the many reasons why I'm looking forward to in FFVII Remake Part II. Both her story and personality. Was Yuffie annoying? Yes, at some cases. But hey! That was one of the main important acts of her character! She's just an over reacting kid who believes shes the strongest lol and I love it! And I adore her hyper witty attitude! Game's director Tetsuya Nomura said there will be changes to the FFVII remake. And that's fine. But with that said, Yuffie better still appear in Part II. And I hope they keep everything about her what made Yuffie so likable in the original! I can't wait to hear her dialogue and humor in the remake! lol

That's why I loved Yuffie so much as a teenage girl myself when I played the ffvii, because she was not perfect and much more relatable.

Aerith did talk about him in the playground scene. In the original, she did not mentioned his name, in the remake, she says his name and Cloud had one of those "headaches". As for the Buster sword, they probably thought it was a common weapon for Soldiers.
You have a cutscene in Gongaga if you enter Zack's parents house, for that you need to have both Tifa and Aerith on your party.
The reason why you don't have Yuffie mentioning Zack in the original FFVII it's because they only planned that after in FFVII Crisis Core.

Thank you for doing this video, I requested it at every instance, and I'm so glad to hear about what happened in the mobile game. She's always been on of my favorite characters in all of FF due to how hard she tries in spite of the world really being against her and Wutai.
I was never super fond of Yuffie before this, but just as with Vincent, I was oblivious to the massive amount of back story she has! Fascinating video!

Honestly I've never really been too big on Yuffie as a character. Interested to see what SE does with her in Remake though
From what I've seen of the Remake so far, she's probably going to be much improved. But to be fair to Yuffie, as an optional party member, it's a bit tough for her to get the same kind of development as the other characters since you could recruit her as early as the forests around Junon, but you could potentially also end up recruiting her much later on as well, and since the window to recruit her is so variable, it's hard to give her moments of character development.
I have huuuuuuuuuge issues with Remake as far as plot goes but one thing it absolutely NAILED was characterization I expect Yuffie will be handled extremely well providing they don't get a bad voice actress which given the S tier voice acting of part 1 i'd say is unlikely

Yuffie has always reminded me of Meru from Legend of Dragoon in terms of personality. There's always that young sassy character in most RPGs.

The entire playable cast throughout the FF7 lore was quite a memorable one. Definitely glad I made it a point to recruit the original 9 in my playthroughs of FF7.

I loved how FF7 had 2 optional characters that were vital to the plot too. It really felt like exploring and experimenting rewarded you so much. I rememeber my first blind playthrough and getting Vincent, he became one of my favorite characters in final fantasy and his backstory was tragic too.
I loved her since the beginning, yes she's misschievous and that misschief might make you die like when she stole your materia... but she has a golden heart, she's way funny, super cute and damn she has good limits, i realy wanne see her Remake makeover, gimme her gameplay, how she looks, more story with her...

What does Yuffie mean to me? Because of her solo fights in the Pagoda, she's the trigger to me seriously learning how to fight in the original FF7. She might be the crucial step in me becoming a serious gamer!
I always preferred Yuffie to Aerith, even before 'it' happened; she had more Materia slots, a decent side quest arc, and she had both Healing 'and' Offensive Limit Breaks.
Even before first visiting Fort Condor, I make it my mission to recruit her.

I always loved Yuffie. I found her endearing and funny. To be honest I loved all the main characters. I was even fascinated by Zack and would study what I could. Didn't find out til Crisis Core I was pretty close to his actual personaility

At first, Yuffie is someone I passed on before Junon, but after learning more about her, I'm glad to use Yuffie in my party. I appreciated hearing how she's one of the few FF protagonists that interacts with her father. Rikku is the only other FF protagonist that I can think of who interacts with their progenitor

Funny how you made this video and then they announced the Yuffie Interlude for the FF7 Remake at the end of the month.
I'm glad I finally found someone who knows what he's talking about... 🏆🏆 I'm very new to FF7 , just bought the game on my Xbox. Before purchasing, I watched many short & long versions of playthroughs plus 6 so called movies ranging from 2hrs to 30 hrs and yes they referred to a playthrough as a movie 😂. During all thos hours , only once was the name "Yuffie" mentioned, although many of the commentary was on YUFFIE. BUT, not once did I see her during everyone of those hours of viewing.
QUESTION: Is she actually in FF 7 ?
These old FF's had amazing characters that were completely fleshed out. Not like a certain FF 15th in numerical line.

Yuffie is still my all time favorite FF character. She is by far the best comic relief to keep in your party, and the Bounty hunter/ninja motif is great. Love this spunky little brat, and she's the one character I'm praying they get right in the 2nd part of the remake.
Also, where the hell is that clip ofher jumping out of the cabinet in the kalm hotel from? This is two videos now you've included it and I've never seen it before and can't find it anywhere online

I remember the first time I played ff7 and encountering Yuffie. I was annoyed by her robbing me and running off many times. The next time I encountered her, I answered the questions in a very pissed off manner, then a bit hope, then pissed off again. Then she was part of the team. Then Joy. This was before I got strategy guide and the one and only time me and cloud were 100% in sync.

I was the same age when ff7 first came out in Japan and a lot of the fight she had with her Dad in japanese version I went through the same situation myself too. So I liked her a lot.

Having only played FF7 this year (just about half way through disc 2 I think), Yuffie reminds me of Rikku from FF10 a lot.
I have an idea for how we might meet Yuffie in the Remake. With how Shinra was labeling Avalanche as pawns of Wutai, we might come across Wutai under attack by Shinra, and Yuffie may be involved in that fight (or she may have gotten isolated and is either running away to avoid capture, or she has no way to escape) and the party could then jump in and end up saving her, at which point she joins the party both out of gratitude and because she asked them to help her protect Wutai (so at the time her being part of the team may be viewed as a temporary arrangement), but once the Wutai invasion ends, Yuffie either decides to stay with the party full-time, or her father may ask her to stay with the party and help them out as thanks for their help in defending Wutai, or Wutai ultimately loses the battle, so the party & Yuffie have to flee and leave liberating Wutai for later).
@15:35 its Red XIII that accompanies her, not Cid. He also helps her save Yuri.
What a coincidence, I just did the Yuffie side quest in my play through of FF7.
Please make one for Tseng. Being from Wutai but working for shinra makes an interessting plot. I can not remember if it was actally talked in the game why he works for Shinra - being a traitor of his fatherland. I hope they go into his backstory in the remake.

She got clumsy in the PS4 port, though. I encountered a weird bug in my playthrough that when she stole all my Materia, she forgot a random Fire Materia, for some reason.

Always had a soft spot for characters like Yuffie, Riku (FF), the quirky cuteness was probably relatable to girls I liked IRL. Gonna the totally honest pig I am, but the skimpy outfits did not hurt at all. In conjuction to all that, a cool character design. Ninja girl with Giant-Ass Shuriken
