  • On February 9, 2021, Professor Zhenan Bao (Stanford University) presented a KNI Distinguished Seminar on "Skin-Inspired Organic Electronics". In her talk, Bao discusses several projects related to engineering conductive materials and developing fabrication methods to allow electronics with effective electrical interfaces with biological systems, through tuning their electrical as well as mechanical properties. The end result is a soft electrical interface that has both low interfacial impedance as well as match mechanical properties with biological tissue. Several new concepts, such as "morphing electronics" and "genetically targeted chemical assembly - GTCA" are also presented.
The KNI Distinguished Seminar Series is a series hosted by The Kavli Nanoscience Institute (www.kni.caltech.edu) where eminent scientists and thinkers with strong yet varied backgrounds in nanoscience and nanotechnology share their expertise with the Caltech community. The scopes of presentations may range from: recent outstanding scientific highlights/technological advancements, to innovative early-stage research developments, to broader cross-disciplinary topics that are relevant to nanoscience. Each seminar is recorded and posted to the KNI RUclips channel.
