    Great review. I recently came into contact with the TM franchise is some discussions on a gaming discord server. I never knew about this series because i never owned a PS. I know that is a poor excuse, but somehow this game series slipped through a crack. Now i am watching TM reviews and gamplay videos in order to educate myself.
    TY for making this heartfelt review. One can relly tell how much you enjoy the game by the way you lovingly talk about it. I don't think i will ever get a chance to play any of these unless they make a nice PC version, but if they do, i will look for it.

    The sheer level of action is what makes this game great. You can have attacks going on from multiple opponents at once using their special weapons to make things interesting. I found out that as playing Thumper in Paris, you get Twister to do his tornado move in the Eiffel Tower with as many enemies at once. Use the flame thrower to literally bbq everyone at once while also destroying the tower. I spent too much time playing this game in HS and my grades suffered because of it lol.

    So... The AI in my game (PAL PSX) attack one another all the time, I wasn't sure if they didn't kill one another or not as I did have to kill them all on the first stage. but on the paris stage the AI killed 3 of them, and on the amazon stage I just witnessed the AI take out 4 of each other, using specials on one another and everything and for sure dealing death blows to one another. so it doesn't seem all that broken to me at all. :/

    • @Gamingpastime64
      @Gamingpastime64  7 лет назад +2

      It's just a shame the AI behaves exactly the same in future title, developed by the original team.

    • @zubiddydoodoopop
      @zubiddydoodoopop 5 лет назад

      The AI in the Amazonia level loved to drive across the lava pits rather than taking the bridge or the loop. They'll just B line to a point of interest and waste away their health. Kinda lame. My favorite thing to do was lure my opponents near the docks in Hong Kong and ram them over the fence into the ocean for a certain death. It's tough but easier when they're on the slope and you have ricochet bombs to push them around. Also the subway was somewhat of a safe haven with the Dark Tooth battle but you had to maintain distance since the attacks could warp through walls somehow

    I’ve got some tips to make New York and Antarctica much easier.
    NY: Get to the building top closest to the Statue of Liberty.There is a large blue box on top of it. Blow it up and fall down the hole into the pool. Grab the power ups in that area and wait at the edge of the pool. Let cars fall in and blow them up when they do. No cars will come from behind (they have to jump through a window to do so) so you can safely wait it out.
    Antarctica: Go through the teleporter with some ricochet bombs. Wait on the island, and knock the cars into the water to get easy kills.
    Also, be sure to use the advance attack that lets you fire Minion’s special attack. You didn’t mention you can do it, so if you don’t know how, you have to be firing the machine guns and press up, down, up, up.

    • @TequilaToothpick

    If anyone here still playing this game like I am and experiences the issues the game has with registering button inputs to do advanced attacks, I feel like the issue is caused when the frame rate dips, in even the slightest amount sometimes. If you haven't figured it out by now, this problem is (mostly) solved by slightly delaying pushing the last button.
    For example: when you go to freeze an enemy, press left, right, wait for just a split second, then up.

If i remember this correctly the cheat codes for both minion and sweetooth are hidden in the game behind burnable paintings in that bowel level, paris in the building and the sweetooth one is 100% in lights as you fall off the roof in the new york level. I love that there are many many cheat codes for this game which also unlock up to 3 levels from the previous game. Loved playing this with friends and finding all of the destructible environment pieces, like the bridges in the bowl level, statue of liberty, bridge in LA to name a few. I'm sure I still have the game in its original case and manual somewhere in the attic.

    The reason why the advanced moves are hard to pull off is because this game is 20+ years old by now. Freeze attacks, mines, napalm, even Minion's Special, you have to pull them off slower than today's standards. You have to go slow with these kind of games. And since this video is recent, it's true that the advance attacks are hard to pull off because the game can't register them as fast as today's standards.
    Other than that, great review :D

  • @JudasRapidFire
    @JudasRapidFire 4 года назад

    I'll have to disagree in regards to New York and Antarctica, imo those among the best stages. Especially NY, I've probably done more deathmatches on that stage than all the others combined lol. Its multi-leveled expansiveness and music make it one of the most epic levels in the series (just like rooftop combat in TM1) Once you master the handling of the cars and know how to avoid ricochets you'll rarely be falling off ledges.
    Good review though, glad to see people showing love to this series!

    If you played this game religiously as I use to, I could tell you the game has an adaptive AI no matter what difficulty it's in. If you kill opponents too quickly, they become more focused in killing you as a group, and the cheese is real. Obviously medium hard is easier than hard hard. If you were as good as i was and got hard hard, its an edge of your seat survival test.

      I felt the same thing but not only TM2 and it is about all TM games.
      When you play I just felt that all vehicle's in the battle are triggered you only😡
      I mean if there are 2 cars stand next to you one is very near and the other one is far and the far one shot her special or rocket so you know it should attack the near one but it will attack you and not the near one to him.
      And if you see 3 cars near to each other's so they would not use there special to each other but when you come near to them so they will use it on you.
      In TM2 when Sweet Tooth is one of your enemies in the a battle with other vechiles and when he uses his special so it will follow you only and his special never end😲
      Even I remember there are some map with places that no one can reach you and attack you, so one day I was think to hide in a place like this so no one would attack me then I left the game like that and taking a nap for 2 hours then when I back to my game so I see everything still the same and most my enemy health is full😒
      These are reasons show you that every vehicles battling you are against you only and TM contest is about vechiles killing each other but I only see that they want to kill you only😤
      But I still really love TM series and I wish for new one on PS4 but I wish they will remove that thing about all vehicle's against you only.

    Very good review - I still play this game these days with my friend, alternating between this, Black, and 2012. The AI is silly, and their special weapon usage us downright criminal - when we play CO-OP, we will usually target either Sweettooth or Spectre depending on who we are playing as sibce their yse of tgeir special weapons us nuts. Sweettooth missiles everywhere! I named my Suburban Mr. Slam, and my friend's Dodge Challenger is the Blue Spectre. 😁

    Well armored? I find Sweet Tooth is a damn soda can? His special is fucking brutal however, which is why when you face him as an AI, he spams the shit out of his special

    Twisted Metal 2 was also the only Twisted Metal to be released outside of Playstation
    Also I don't see why they visually downgraded tm2 on pc it makes no sense??

    As a kid, I have played TM2 on PC and enjoyed it a lot. You're saying it's inferior compared to the PS version... def on the graphics PC wins big time... but isn't the gameplay and all the content the same for both games, PC and PS?...

    Why is tm2 everyones favorite? Besides mr.slam and grasshopper tm3 is by far greater. It was on ps2 so the graphics were way better, the controls weren't a chore. In fact tm3 had the best handling controls of the whole tm series. I've played them all. I played it daily for about 2 years solid. Nobody could touch me in that game and my friends would only play co-op mode with me because if i had a full load out of my weapons and you got behind me, i could kill you in a matter of around 10 seconds. If not shorter. There was no waiting period to shoot behind you unlike a few second waiting period to shoot in front of you. It's as fast as you could press left, right, down. And i got very fast at that. Probably 2 shots a second. I would freeze my opponents, then jump over them to put them behind me. And unload all my weapons i had stored up in seconds or until i killed you. Just doing that combo 1 time i could take half or more of an opponents life before they unfroze. Then i would just chase them down and kill them as they desperately searched for health.

    there jet Moto and Suburbia, theres more then just a few maps, and there are other interesting secrets yo unever mentions and including ways of map glitching, lol. Never found the game to difficult. Mr Grim was my goto, I could kill anyone in a hit and run method, Thumper and the hearse were the most difficult to win with, and twister probably had the most self suicides with. However, you can do some interesting with twister... Crimson was a car.. hmm...I don't think the game was as difficult as you stay, there were so many strts, especially on roof tops, grab the remote or richochet to get instant kills, or in the minion level you can hide in the buidligns while getting health back. So the water duck muiltiplayer level, you can hop the walls and open it up... Which made for some fun player verse player, and with a gameshark you could even do more interesting thing in the game.

    gotta say...most of your complaints are basically that you're getting your ass kicked, and watching you play i'm not surprised. running full speed into hammerhead with grasshopper! What you doing man! getting lit up by all kinds of missiles, missing easy shots. Get gud dude! The difficulty is why i was able to play it for years without getting bored. After putting hundreds of hours into this game, I could do a flying 360 reverse napalm and hit my target every time. Now THAT is art...This game was siiiiiiick.

    I haven't been able to get into this game. The enemies were hard as shit to kill and they all gang up on ya and after getting trashed a zillion times I got really sick of that first levels music. Sucks too because it looks god damn incredible and the endings are the best so far.
