I loved his portrayal of Valmont, who was irredeemably evil in some ways and a sociopath, but very compelling to watch since he was so brilliant and had hidden vulnerabilities. Would have loved to see him play the role on stage as well, being a stage actor with a lot of raw energy.
he looks like a vampire here and talks like one would (at least i imagine like that lmao) i thought john started talking slower when he got older (like johnny depp but he started because of the drugs and alcohol damage to his brain) but i see here that john always were the slower talker

Saw John in NYC years ago in a play called Burn This (probably the play he was referring to in this interview). Phenomenal.
Valmont was such a complex character. One of my favorites.
