  • A third terminal is planned for San Antonio International Airport. It will have capacity for 17 more gates and will be situated next to the existing Terminal B on the northwest end of the airport’s current footprint.

What "international" flights? Mexico and Canada? That's been a given. How about South America? Europe? When does the "international" in San Antonio International actually mean it?

No one wants to build a hub in San Antonio when you have Houston and Dallas

That's a good start but need to expand the runways by at least 1,000 ft so bigger planes can takeoff and land at SAT. For reference Austin airport long runway is 12,248 ft, San Antonio airport long runway is only 8,505 ft.

Still. Without demand no one is coming. We need BA to send their 787-8s

Not sure if their is enough demand for a daily flight from San Antonio to London or Frankfurt. The best option would be one large airport for Austin and San Antonio combined. High speed rail could make that possible.

You'll be surprised how many residents from SA have roots in Europe. Take a look at the Hill Country it's all German . I'm from Germany and I would love a direct flight from here going to Frankfurt it also brings more tourists from Europe over to SA. More tourists, more money for the city. This airport expansion is way overdue to a constant growth of new residents and tourists. Trust me there's high demand in all direction.

I dont think Austin area residents want to commute further than the current airport. I live in Round Rock and its already a 45 min drive for me to ABIA. We don't need to move ABIA toward San Marcos or New Braunfels to accommodate SA lack of vision or push to grow into the 21st Century already. SA needs to fix its own issues. Many Bexar county residents already drive up to Austin to catch better and cheaper flights. WE are just fine with our own Lil growing ABIA here. Thank you very much.

@TheAngelmuse what makes you think only people from Austin fly overseas to destinations like Europe? Plenty of people here in SA that I know travel to Europe including myself who has family in Germany. Sure the flight ticket cost me a little bit more upfront but let's not forget I don't have to ask anyone for a ride to ATX neither do I have to pay for the expenses to get there or parking. There about 500,000 more people living here compared to Austin it's the 7th largest city in the country and rapidly growing . There's so much demand in every direction that's why it is important to expand the airport. We get a new terminal with up to 17 gates plus airport renovation. That's a major improvement so we can be ready for the future and it also helps our already booming economy . We're business and tourist friendly. Another factor that comes in folks from CC or RGV can fly from SA since it's closer to them. This expension is going to be a big hit. We already see more nonstop flight to great destinations. LAX for about 200 dollars round-trip how can you beat that ? Speaking of lack of vision SA doesn't want to look like a city that you see all over the place . Just because we don't have 40 plus floor skyscrapers doesn't make it less attractive. This city has character that's why SA gets the highest number of tourists in Texas.

Also I thought they were supposed to build a central concourse to connect the future terminal C to terminal A
