When we get new experiences they change us and make us adapt to the new information. Armin is Armin, with Berholdts memories being now a part of his.
Now I’m also thinking about what you were saying about Annie giving up. She’s the only one who remained on Paradis after the first infiltration in season 1. She’s been locked in that state throughout everything up until the rumbling. Locked in limbo for years end with only Armin visiting. Armin visiting because of his own curiosity, thoughts and his mixed feelings with Bertholdts memories. I always thought they matched quite naturally in a human perspective when not having it be a perfect romantic ship, but I do enjoy hearing your thoughts and ideas regarding the characters, their reasoning and evolution.
