For consulting companies utilization rates. If they expect 80% utilization, then you need to check and see the size of engagements if those engagements are less than full-time engagements lasting for six months. Getting utilization up to 80% is very difficult or impossible for smaller consulting shops, they can expect you to juggle half a dozen to a dozen Projects and maintain that utilization and those are very very long weeks.
Hi Emma! I just found your channel and I am totally obsessed with it. Thank you for sharing all of this information. I am currently working on getting my Google certificate and your videos have really helped me to see things from a different perspective.
You're so welcome! Thank you for sharing - it made my day to hear that you found this helpful! Are there any other topics you'd like to see for future videos? Best of luck with your future endeavors!
@@RecipeforSuccess1 Omg yes! Here are some ideas: 1. Where to find project management jobs. 2. Tips for project managers (like things you would have wanted to know at the beggining of your career). 3. Things every project manager should know. 4. Storytime about how you got started and your background. 5. More information about all of the different tools and softwares for PM. 6. A day in the life of a PM (day to day tasks). 7. More about your personal experience in the field and the different projects you've worked on. Any information is valuable! Thanks Emma.
Hey Emma, how did you get into PM, do you have a degree, if so what degree(s) and if there’s a video of you answering I’ll love to watch… great content as always
Hi Nikita - I actually have a whole video about how I got my first PM role, but it was not something on my radar. Originally, I was a STEM major and then ended up working as a PM in a technology company. Thank you!
Hi Gabriela - I think it truly depends on the industry and organization you work for. I've had organizations where I've worked 70+ hrs/week and others where 40 was more common. On the whole, I think it's possible to get a PM job with really good work life balance, but there are always outliers. Hope that helps! 😁
I have been trying to get an interview as a PM for the past 3 months with no luck. It seems I am not passing ATS and often get the unfortunate message in my email that the company is moving on. I have retail management experience for 5 years and have managed a new store opening project in my current position. What are some must-haves on a resume that can help me pass through the interview phase?
The reality is that anybody hiring a PM is looking for industry specific experience. If you were applying for jobs outside retail, then you need to have some way to get that experience for your first job outside of retail. You may need to take a different role for a little while.
Hi Recipe for Success Network! What are some red flags you've encountered during an interview??
