MORE ABOUT DOCTOR WHO:
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since November 23rd, 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "The Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, appearing to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British metropolitan police box, which was a common sight in Britain in the 1960’s when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes like the Daleks and Cybermen while working to save civilisations and save people in need.
Beginning with William Hartnell, over fifteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation and body, a plot device in which a Timelord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally.
Ncuti Gatwa had previously been announced as Jodie Whittaker's successor after David Tennant reprises his role as the doctor in the 60th anniversary specials as the programme's lead, and many reports stated he would play the Fourteenth Doctor and that Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor would regenerate into an incarnation portrayed by Gatwa. Upon Jodie Whittaker's final appearance as the character in The Power Of The Doctor, she instead regenerated into a form similar to the Tenth Doctor. This character, portrayed by Tennant, was confirmed to be the Fourteenth Doctor, with later clarification that Ncuti Gatwa would actually portray the Fifteenth Doctor. Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th doctor has also had his companion announced as Millie Gibson playing Ruby Sunday live on Children In Need.
On 24 September 2021, the BBC announced Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as showrunner, after having previously acted as showrunner from 2005-2010 for the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. He will succeed Chibnall for the show's 60th anniversary in 2023 and beyond. Davies will be joined by the Bad Wolf production company, which was founded by former Doctor Who executive producer Julie Gardner and former BBC head of drama Jane Tranter. In October 2021, it was announced that Sony would acquire a majority of Bad Wolf. Bad Wolf also took over creative control of Doctor Who beginning with the specials, allowing the BBC to focus on establishing Doctor Who as a global brand. The new era of Doctor Who is being labelled as RTD2 as it is Russel’s second era of Doctor Who.

I love that "the legend of Ruby Sunday" is just an old video tape of the night Ruby was abandoned on Ruby Road.
Kate has actually met The War Doctor, the 10th doctor, the 11th doctor, the 12th doctor, the 13th doctor, the 14th doctor, and the 15th doctor
All she needs to do is meet 9 (probably via Big FInish) and she's met all of the New-Who Doctors! (I'm counting Fugitive as pre-classic here)
I think that means she's worked with an equal amount of Doctors to her father, right? 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 11th? Although there's technically an interaction with 12th after his death, but I don't really count that since he's, you know, not alive.
@@SeeJay81he didn't meet the 11th, but he did meet the first (well "met" on the TARDIS screen in Three Doctors). If you count Big Finish and the BBC novels, she's got a way to go, since he's met 8 in the novels and 9 at Bid Finish.
@@DavidHHH99 I thought he met 11th in SJA, but I think in reality they just both were in it, but at different times. That being said, he did work with the 1st Doctor (technically) so I guess it still keeps them even (extended media excluded)
funny that she met War twice, but that was in fourth Doctor's body while degenerating lol
You shouldn't have to apologize for not liking an episode, you're entitled to your opinion just like anyone else.
Keep being you, man. I don't always agree with you, but I still watch these reacts.
"Pyramids of Mars" was my first Doctor Who story I saw on PBS back in the 1980s. Tom Baker's time is my favorite era. So many great villains including Sutekh. So this new episode brought a lot of memories for me.
"The Chris Chibnall video is done" bless your heart.
i think the thing with rogue was
'doctor, i am going to kill you because i am on the hunt for a shapeshifter and you are a shapeshifter, thus you must be my target'
'rogue, i am not the shapeshifter you're looking for, you're after a different dude'
'oh shit mb doctor'
'all good mistakes happen, let's slam ham in the tardis'
in the context of the episode i think it makes sense for the doctor to move on from rogue trying to kill him, since it was a genuine misunderstanding
if the situation was the same but the doctor survived by bargaining his usefulness in exchange for his life, it'd make sense for the doctor to no longer be able to trust rogue, but all that actually happened was that rogue was just... wrong in the conclusion he came to
Exactly! It wasn’t actually a “tried to kill the doctor 5 minutes ago” situation. Rogue thought the doctor was someone else!
Kates also met David Tennant in Day of the Doctor, so she met them all except Christopher Eccleston
Which story did she meet the 7th Doctor in
I don't know if she has, might have in audio but I'm not sure
Been refreshing waiting for this reaction, and now the next era tier list in an hour?!
Yeah!😁
so much dtdw to watch no time
I was literally jumping in my seat when Sutekh came in his new big doggo form.
I think Russell’s strongest episodes are his darker more serious episodes and this is another example of that
Some people not familiar with Ancient Egyptian mythology saying he looks like Anubis.
Set represents an animal known only to Archaeologists as the "Set animal" or "Sha", it is not known for sure what animal he is. Suggestions as to what it could be have included an Aardvark, Donkey, African Wild Dog, Fennec Fox, and even a Camel.
His most distinctive features are his long ears and snout.
I mean I know the Doctor has fought this thing before, but like for me that had no idea it was from Classic Who, I was immediately like "well that's lame. how do you defeat death?".
Great set up episode. I think the editing in the last segment was especially good, there was a lot going on in three seperate scenes and it all flowed nicely without losing any tension.
Also, it's a cute parallel that Sutekh appeared in UNIT HQ since that's where his original episode was set too.
Love how every single episode of RTD2 era so far (minus The Star Beast) has had the episode title mentioned IN the episode, like, we're on a roll here lol.
4:03 Neither did Rose until Parting of the Ways, its pretty standard for the doctor to not tell their companions about regeneration until it happens/ is relevant
Always hpyed to see your reactions above all others ngl
Ther's a Tales Fron the TARDIS dropping this week on iPlayer that presumably is a cut down vsrsion of Pyramids of Mars, with frmaing sequences of 15 telling the story to Ruby and Mel.
1:10 The thing about the Rogue and Doctor dynamic you seem to dodge is that the Doctor HAS admiration for Rogue, because he is a fucking nerd, also Rogue did not want to kill him, instead he was trying to do the right thing and save the world from the current threat, they are both huge dorks who are trying to save the world and find each other cool.
The Doctor did not have "admiration" for rogue, it was physical attraction lol.
There's a new "tales of the Tardis" on Thursday, which we can pretty much assume is going to be Pyramids of Mars. I believe they'll cut it down so it's just the important parts which will be an easier watch if you don't have much time.
Kate Stewart also has David Tennant. She's been with all new who actors other than Chris.
Now THAT'S what I call an amazing first half ready for a shit second half lmao
True but let's be hopeful.
Pyramids of Mars was one of favourite all the years ago. Good reaction. Looking forward to the next one
it is interesting on how Sutekh is now the Azathoth of the Doctor Who pantheon, while before, he was the last of a very powerful alien race the Osirans.
They have tinkered with his backstory.
Everybody keeps talking about "Oh, all this time traveling with the Doctor, and Ruby doesn't know about regeneration... Correct me if I am wrong, but other than Maybe Rose, does the Doctor from any of the more recent eras talk to their companion about regeneration until its literally about to happen? Pretty sure it was a surprise to Martha, to Donna, the ONLY reason it wasn't a surprise to Clara, I think was because of the direction of her storyline where she was going to get spread along the Doctors Timeline anyway.
Now, I could be wrong, correct me if I am but I think the only recent companions who might have been warned were Rose and Clara.
No, you're correct. None of them knew until either it happened or the plot required the characters to know it happens. Also I wouldn't say Rose knew? She only found out when 9 regenerated, no different then Donna when 10 regenerated for the first time.
@IOmoon6221 okay, that's right, it's been a long time since I've seen 9 so I thought I might be wrong about that one. Thank you for correcting me
You're spot on my friend. Clara was definitely a unique situation for sure. But no, none of the other companions were warned immediately. When you think about it, that would be quite odd if the doctor told his companions right after introducing himself lol. Nobody, despite their nature, immediately shares a personal detail with a complete stranger like that. The dialogue would be completely unnatural.
However, the way he tells them the information when it is relevant, and only then, is more credible pacing and writing and it flows naturally.
I am so excited to see your reactions!
I 100% agreed with you on last weeks episode, which was validating
You should still do a reaction to episode 8 for YT even if it's your second viewing as you're going to the cinema for your first.
I didn’t mind that you did not like last week’s episode but you do not deserve the toxicity you got last week.
No, it's because there is such a loud contingent of antis that too many people assume that anyone who doesn't like something in the new series is one of those loud voices.
But, yeah, it felt odd to me that he had to preface this reaction by talking about how everyone was mad with him because he didn't like Rogue.
Yeah, i wasnt the biggest fan of last week episode. i enjoyed it and where it was joining, but I did agree that it went from 0% to 100% way too quickly.
@@paulhammond6978yep. And it doesn't help that the bigots usually claim to speak for all of fandom and even all of the viewers. And they were out in force all over the internet with Rogue.
Can't wait to watch this episode and the fated second part suffering through Bowseltrek
Loved it!
I think Pyramids of Mars will be the new Tale from the TARDIS on BBC4 on Thursday night. Starring Ncuti and Millie. Cant see it being anything else.
I get what you're saying abour Rogue and the Doctor but then, there's me - Autistic and my special interests and fascinations tend to be attachment to individuals, very fast 😅 to the point of getting intensely upset if they go 🤣 so, it's possible and everyone is different?
With regard to Rogue, I'm 66 and lived through an age where the LGBTQ community had no representation on tv unless they were funny or tragic. It's wonderful to see true and positive queer visibility after so many years. That representation was fought for and in a world as changeable as ours that visibilty still remains a fragile thing. However, I agree the romance between Rogue and the Doctor was very rushed. If Rogue returns, I hope they have more time to explore their relationship.
As for TLORS - Wow! This was Doctor Who at its finest and the climax, chef's kiss. Bringing back Sutak on such a grand scale brought back the teen in me when I first watched Pyramids of Mars.
Love your reviews
As an OG fan from the classic era, I Lost my shit!
I might have not liked Rogue’s episode. But boy oh boy did I find The Legend of Ruby Sunday to be a fantastic episode
Oh well that’s my questions answered
You know, I got a good feeling that Ruby's mother is the one who going to be the one who saves the day (from the Empire of Death synopsis), I thought it would be Susan but I guess not. Ruby's mother was the one pointing at the Tardis (as she didn't originally and I guess she sensed something was up with Tardis). I loved the episode even know I was spoiled (thanks RUclips), so I knew it was Sukteh. Overall I did enjoy it and give it a 9 out of 10 (I guess that it's a very classic RTD ending that everything is going to be revealed next episode and I'm guessing Mrs Flood is for Season 2). Glad to see that you enjoyed the episode more than last week's episode. I did agree with your points from that episode, that I felt their relationship went way too quickly, I still enjoyed the episode but not my favourite, I gave last week's episode a 7 or 6.5. 8:38, Ah I am so glad you also noticed the similar Dance that Thresea may did (I was laughing to myself thinking it looked similar XD)
Aside from the babies episode, I've quite enjoyed this season. I can understand if it's not a favorite season, but I'm confused why many trash it. While i never watched Classic Who to know who Sutekh is, I am excited more is coming from the older Who along with what this Sutekh brings. A shame this and next season only has eight episodes.
now look at horus, because i am sure that mrs flood is horus because horus was also known as she, and trapped sutekh
I was thinking it could also be Khnum or Hapi. Both of them are gods associated with the nile flooding (Mrs flood,) and Khnum specifically is often described as shaping humans bodies out of clay and placing them in a mothers womb. He also symbolises rebirth, regeneration and ressurection. All of that ties into the themes of 15 and Ruby.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466but Horus was said to have originally trapped Sutekh in Pyramids of Mars

Ibrahim is a character that was a follower of Sutekh in Pyramids of Mars. COL IBRAHIM SALUTED SUTEKH NOT THE TARDIS! (also he was the only one that didn't flinch during the explosion of the Time Window)
I thought the pacing of this episode was good. Some people hated it. Mel is so good and I think the actor Susan Twist has been great.
--tinfoil hat time --
The first mystery they establish in the season is who is rubys mom. The SECOND is why does ms flood know what a tardis is.
There is massive emotional buildup and momentum going towards the doctor meeting his grandughter again.
The doctor says timelords sometimes regenerate to ‘hide themselves away’ and when ms flood gets to rubys house she’s says she’s always ‘hiding herself away’ implying she is probably a timelord
The episode ends with Ruby about to find out who her mom is and at the same time her adopted mom is on her way home to meet 🥁 🥁 🥁MS FLOOD
ms flood is real Susan and rubys mom 🧠
One of the things I don't really get about this episode, Kate has seen people die, Kate has seen her own people die, she knows these things happen, not only with the Doctor and their specific enemies but with aliens in general. Why was she so pissed? I mean, she looked like she wanted to shoot the Doctor, and I have never heard Kate snap at a companion.... did anyone else think that a bit odd?
That being said, I did like how Kate got to have her own "I am the Doctor" moment.
I think she was angry at the doctor because she told the unit soldier to stay where he was but it was the doctor that then told him to move, effectively getting him killed.
Also dealing with a sentient being that you’ve never seen before would make you pretty scared I suppose, probably why she snapped, but I see what you’re saying :)
@DannyTDW I think in a way she was feeling disrespected because not only did the Doctor override an order but he just gave Karla access.
But, I just feel like Kate knows this is the Doctor, he's going to do things his own way, especially when the stakes are high.
I don't know, I just found her attitude shift weird.
@@kaihinataplays1992 I agree with Danny, I do think it was a mixture of getting this man killed, but also like you said giving Karla access as well. Perhaps the Colonel was close with her somehow so his death hit a bit harder, although there's no evidence to support that..
But I do agree with you as well. It was a bit odd. And yes, one would think she would be used to this by now. Although this is a giant godlike alien, which I'm assuming she hasn't seen before, apart from the Toymaker ofc..
But yeah I could see it being odd.
I'm same with you with last week's episodes.
Let’s go to the cinema to meet the fans! I still miss the fan’s excitement for the 50th movie even in the small town like Lancaster, where I did my degree. 😊
I'm sad we still got no reveal on who left Ruby. I think it might be Ruby herself or maybe even The Doctor...
Will probably happen next episode
I'm so pumped for the chibnall video!
Disgusted that people reacted like that too your review abuse is not needed especially as it was obvious it wasn't because it was a gay relationship.
I left a comment then saying that while it was a good episode with parts I did enjoy it wasn't an episode for me.
I absolutely loved this week's episode the reveal had me like damnit I was wrong again 😂😂😂
Can't wait for next week sadly no cinema for me though hope that you enjoy it 😁
susan twist was a twist , the episode was a twist , know my mind is twisted
Oh my god how can you not have seen 'pyramids of Mars'!!!!!!!!
Treat yourself and do an episode a day from Monday. With Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen in an absolute classic and in one of the best Seasons.
Can I ask why you haven't watched any of classic Doctor Who??
You really should checkout the classic who story "Pyramids of Mars" you won't be disappointed it's a great story.
Episode 4 is weak for the most part
I think I know who Mrs Flood is. Here's a hint: What things can flood?
Does Sutekh show up in New Who at all before this? Or this is purely a Classic Who villain?
He was a one-off villain from the Tom Baker era. The story was called "Pyramids of Mars." Sutekh was trapped then but was still very powerful. He even managed to mind control the Doctor for a while. In the end, the Doctor appeared to have trapped Sutekh in a time tunnel to live out the rest of his life. This is a full power Sutekh who definitely holds a grudge against the Doctor for trapping him. He should give the Doctor plenty of trouble.
I got called homophobic last week when I said I did not really like Rogue as an episode. I'm not. I'm literally bisexual with most of my relationships being other women, so yeah. The toxicity is real in the fandom and I'm sorry you were treated badly for having an opinion.
It's a shame your thoughts on last episode were hated so much, I think some people take any negativity as a personal attack sometimes which is a shame. I think the points you made were valid, I personally enjoyed the episode overall but the romance plot felt rushed to me, having said that though, I think that's been an issue with this series overall, as the pacing feels really fast. I am looking forward to Rogues return tho and I'm excited to see that plot play out.
So, where's 14 then? Yeah, he's 'retired' and whatever else and knows 15 is out there, but you're telling me he just willingly sits by when this massive threat is on Earth? Especially with it being TARDIS centric. come on. No way he just leaves 15 to sort everything himself
He still has a Tardis, so he could be going on an adventure with his new family while all this shit goes down, completely unaware of this situation.
Persoanlly I would love to see Tenant again, but I don't know if they would want to keep dragging him back for every new thing. Not sure how the rest of the fanbase would react again either.. Plus I don't want this 14th Doctor to die. He seems so at peace and happy and it would be horrible for him to lose that.
So I would like to think he and Donna's family are off somewhere else this happens. But we won't know till the new episode drops.
CHIBBY VIDEO YES
Please have Sofie back 😢
Did the doctor get his nob out
Mate I felt last weeks was tragic and this weeks was tragic. No need to justify your thoughts to us, you have more knowledge in this stuff than tons of people
2 episodes out of 800 isn’t bad
thank you for watching the chibnal era so i dont have to, it enables me to complain about the scale of the problem without wasting my time
I love your reactions mate. Also it’s clear you’re not homophobic. I agree the chemistry with Rogue was too fast and a bit fake.
Rogue was absolutely my least fav episode but I’m excited to see your reaction to this one, *I was absolutely shaking by the end of it*
Glad you didn't like Rogue either mate, if the kiss hadn't happened, nobody would be defending it as it's fairly mid. It's just being gay is the world's biggest fashion statement right now. Obviously nothing wrong with the lifestyle, but it's constantly pushed in people's faces like it's the most important thing in the world to be.
You’re not alone mate, last weeks ep wasn’t it
I was disappointed by this week's episode. The new direction with more supernatural elements doesn't feel like Who to me. I miss the practical effects and aliens. Yes episodes like the Satan Pit included more paranormal elements but they used to be very rare and usually were explained from a sci fi perspective
It's ok. You'll win the gay fans back if you keep the beard.
I didn't like last week's either. You're not the only one. I had the same criticisms. Too much too quickly.
I'm gay and even I think it was a shit episode. Shouldn't use the word homophobia so flippantly. Like you can comment on a gay story without disagreeing with gay people. For example, Heartstopper is shit, doesn't make me not gay. I just find it shit.
Last weeks episode was average. Aliens messing about on earth and the Doctor needs to stop them. The romance was a bit quick as TV romances always are. Rogue kissed the Doctor and then sacrificed himself. What? Rogue, you just met him!
Episode 6 was the weakest episode of the season in my opinion
Space. Babies.
Space Babies was borderline unwatchable. The only bad episode in the season.
I like Space Babies *shrug*
@@TheArchieTheory and the devils chord
overall quite disappointed in the doctors character he is just a emotion wreck and need someone else to save the day constantly and when he gives orders the people die. smh, the worst doctor by far. and dont give me the "you are a racist" as its not he is just bad character and doesn't portray the doctor at all
emotional wreck, gets people killed, needs others to save the day? are you describing 15 or 9?
@@cansnake 15 without a doubt
Rogue was a rubbish episode. Too woke and poor storytelling, as usual. Too much agenda politics and the “gay” message was excessive
What...what ...what.. you do realize this The Doctor thats no longer have the weight of the time war on his back.
