There are 42 managed beaches in HK 1-2 suitable for surfing… make those beaches dedicated for surfing activities. Swimmers can swim “safely” in the other 40 beaches…

I was there last weekend, and there were still loads of surfers. There wasn’t anyone there to enforce the rule either. So I wonder how serious this actually is

The whole world also regards it as a sports competition. If the Hong Kong government is really worried about our personal safety, it can set up some licensing examination systems.

Best place to surf close to the city. Weird. Worried that random enforcement will focus on foreigners. (Big Wave Bay in Sai Kung is way better but difficult to get to).

the Hong Kong government to consider implementing separate designated days for surfing and swimming. For instance, reserving Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays exclusively for surfing and the remaining days for swimming only. This way, the risk can be completely eliminated.

Finally a news agency that knows to report about the important things that happen around the world!
All the other news channels are reporting about North Korean soldiers in Ukraine.
But not SCMP. Stay classy SCMP!

This doesn't make any sense to ban surfing 😂

If surfing is dangerous to swimmers, then waves are dangerous to swimmers, so better ban swimming at the beach altogether. This doesn't make sense.

To be fair, it is not going to be easy. Best way is to ban it all due to the increase of population and potential conflict that comes along with it.

Fantastic logic ! - let’s ban cars after accidents - and ban sand if someone gets hurt in the sand ! - maybe ban schools if someone gets hurt at school ?
