@@elirosen1391 I looked it up and it seems to be disputed. According to Ian MacDonald Paul played bass and John piano, but I figured Paul played both bass and piano (especially considering it's his song). The bass tone makes me think it's Paul on the Höfner. But who knows except Paul or Ringo?
@@kennet7837 well, the booklet to the 50th Anniversary Abbey Road box set states it was George on bass, John on guitar, Paul on piano, etc. Say what you will about Kevin Howlett's notes (particularly concerning Old Brown Shoe). I always suspected George played bass on Oh! Darling for several reasons.
Would you share your method of Deconstructing songs. As a guitar player I'd be interested in deconstructing some songs that I'm interested in figuring out as accurately as possible..
Paul tried many times his vocals for Oh Darling. First rough introduction of the song on 27th january 1969. On 20 April 1969, recording proper commenced (26 live takes of the basic track: drums bass etc.). 17 July 1969 new vocal overdubs by Paul. In Mark Lewisohn's book The Beatles: Recording Sessions - Alan Parsons says: "Perhaps my main memory of the Abbey Road sessions is of Paul coming into (the) studio each afternoon, on his own, to do the vocal on 'Oh! Darling'. Paul came in several days running to do the lead vocal on 'Oh! Darling'. He'd come in, sing it and say: 'No, that's not it, I'll try it again tomorrow. He only tried it once per day." The released version is the one with Paul's vocal recording done on 23 July 1969.
You got the tone to match George's bass!
