An essential feature of a traditional HUD is that the projected light is collimated and the image is focussed at infinity on the horizon. This means that the information is available to the pilot without them having to constantly re-focus back onto the outside world. Without this feature I cannot seeing this being useful
The only manufactures who get certified have donated massive amounts of money to washington politicians. FAA will throw your application for certification in the thrash if you don't have a Senator or Congressman telling them to push it through.
I'm sorry....TWENTY NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS. That's an insane amount of money for the functionality. I know it costs serious money to certify this stuff but talk about shrinking your target market. Awesome looking bit of kit but the price seems a bit steep.
Don't worry, just wait two years and it will only cost $2,900 (twenty nine hundred dollars). And it will even deploy the parachute when you least likely need it.
@@zoyaspencer8025 Did you read the description of that app? This is for Entertainment only,..Please DO NOT USE while driving, flying, operating heavy machinery or any other time when you should not be distracted.
For that price, to leave out Angle of Attack is a tragedy. It will take some training to not chase the V in a twitchy light aircraft. At least it is a start.
Is this product STC'd? I work for a Garmin dealer and this would be something awesome if it can be installed on a certified aircraft integrated with something like a G3X or G500 for example.
No it doesn't. See how the symbology and the outside view are not equally in focus? On real HUDs, they are, and pilots don't have to constantly switch focus. The act of focusing the symbology at optical infinity, over a sizable area, is the hard optical engineering part that makes "real" HUDs expensive.
A garmin 1000 does this already. But instead of using a projector and simplicity of the interface. It uses an lcd screen. 29k for what? A projector and some custome coding to interpret intrument feedback into a hud..... come on guys. 5k at the most.
Nice. But what happens when the pilot gets so used to this system when it goes "kaput"? Can the pilot revert instantly to becoming a "real" pilot again instead of somebody flying a computer?
The Frigging PILOT keeps flying the aircraft!!! Darn it. How about, what is the benefit to ongoing situational awareness for novice to expert aviators as these new products, ForeFlight, GUI displays showing moving map information, and this product become adopted in the cockpit? daffidavit, what if aircraft power is lost, and the plastic breaks on my E6B, and i smell smoke in the cockpit, and my radio seems to be STILL working, WHAT DO I DO??? (i fly the airplane, and use the items that are available me to communicate my situation, and to do just that.) My scanning, and motor skills are fully functional if the iPad dies. The situational awareness, BANK ACCOUNT, is filled so much faster with better User Interfaces, but for now the piloting is on my shoulders only. N32693

This is pretty ridiculous, has this been in development for 30 years or something? Why are they using projection to a tinted screen in 2020? Why does the resolution look like it is from a 1980's video game? and... $29,000? Are you serious? For a supplemental flight instrument? Why not a transparent, color, much higher resolution OLED display? A 12 inch, flexible, full color, 120hz transparent OLED panel is less than $300.... Great concept but absolutely terrible execution.

Something like this should cost $2500, NOT $25,000. Ridiculous prices in the certified aviation market. Thanks FAA
not even $2500.. more like $250. it is just projecting the image to a tinted pane.
Alot of the cost for the software engineering needs to be made up.
However I agree that $25k is still way to much.
@@fernandoaispuro1819 $2500 is totally reasonable for something like this though.
Yeah, just look up for certified vs experimental Garmin G3X. One cost $9500 the other $4500, literally same item.

GRT has one for experimentals that’s $300!
Christopher Bradbury It was twenty five...but yeah, ridiculous
Can't wait to put this in my 1961 Aeronca Champ. It would double the value!

Is the display focused on infinity, or two feet in front of you?
What a great time to be a pilot. I just wish i could get my medical back and could afford to fly again. Wow, so cool.
Wow Charlie this is great exposure!! Nice job!
Bit jerky on the elevator there bull
It looks really nice but that's practically an engine overhaul for a small ga airplane.
Is the artificial horizon perfectly synced with the actual horizon? It looked a little off in some bits,
Apart from being too small and expensive I wonder if this could've saved a few lives of VFR pilots stuck in IMC.
25k LOL

The view through the glass looks exactly like the HUD on a SWA 737. Wonder how it compares to a HUDLY hooked to the Mini-GA at about 1/3 the cost?

25k I can get myself a LPV WAAS GPS with a coupled autopilot. Maybe even auto throttle to do auto land.
In what fantasy world?! Not a chance in hell would you get any kind of autothrottle for 25k. Youd be lucky to get a waas gps and basic AP!
MCAS😀
Engine performance prop pitch, a/f mixture. Manifold pressure
A shame it’s not considered a “conformal HUD”. If it was it would have some serious value.
They're selling it for how much???
I don’t know what kind of hud makes a v for the nose instead of a w
I feel terrible for those 19 pilots that bought one of these
I'm sure MyGoFlight feels great about the half million they made off them though.
Free shipping?
$25,000 for this, ya right not happening
It's the price of a Cessna or piper
U had me all in on it until u said the price, I’m good love ❤️
