I agree. I love that in both seasons a large amount of time is spent with the villians. No other show I can think of spends that much time solely focusing on the villians motivations, and in the end you're rooting for both sides
Fun fact: Season one WAS a movie that was broken into 4 episodes. It was the dry run that gave season two its big chance, and it definitely seems like it set up for a season 3.

The feeling I get is that a good portion of the first half of episodes is that they were trying to build up Isaac and Hector for everyone watching. Most likely so they can make a season 3 that segways into the Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

To my understanding, the choppiness in the combat animation is a stylistic choice. They hired separate animators to work on dialogue and combat, so that’s why the fights have it but nothing else does.
he's said he liked Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency but dislikes Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable. If he does review Vento Aureo it'll be till it's complete. Assuming he's even watching it
I think the choppiness you see in the fight scenes is meant to convey force and gives a real hand animated feel. No points off on that from me. Also the explosions and fire animations are near the best I've seen.
In my opinion its better than season one cause of the world building it does and how it masterfully sets up season 3 with the isaac and carmilla stuff. The "talking" works very well here, every conversation/dialogues gives you a little more about the world and lore. Man, if only berserk had this kind of treatment. I would die a happy man.
Fantastically choreographed fights, I'm glad you touched on that. The fight with the handful of different night-beasts breaking into the Belmont library was a favourite; by the choreography it was evident these creatures (and the people drawing them) actually knew how to fight and were thinking about it, rather than doing the typical monstery thing and swinging wildly at a target.
Even after I saw the filler episodes, I didn't think they felt out of place. At least they tied in well and it wasn't obvious fillers like a beach, or R&R episodes from other animes
I think season 2 should have been them gearing up and hunting down Dracula’s generals and season 3 should have been them finding the castle and killing Dracula, the fact they went from 5 episode of searching around to “AH FUCK DRACULAS CASTLE IS HERE” was really jarring to me
Monster is really good and underrated, but for a reason. I only got through the first 7 episodes and then I never watched it again. Might finish it up though.
Trevor is just so plain. I tried my best to like him but I just couldn't. They didnt give me a reason why I like him. I couldn't care about him, cause. I didn't know his backstory. Why should I root for him? I didn't know his intensions. So why should I care if he succeed? He is the complete opposite of Dracula. Her wife died. So he felt sad. Owh he lost his wife. I will root for him because I care for him. I want him to win because we have emotions attached to him. Trevor was so plain and bland.

Hell yeah. One thing I have to say, and that I can't gush over enough? The background art is BEAUTIFUL. The amount of detail alone in the architecture of Dracula's castle and the Belmont hold makes it clear these artists busted their asses to make it look good. I want to take some of these scenes and use them as a computer desktop.
I really liked the season, episode 7 being my favorite. I hope the next season comes out sooner maybe if Netflix threw more money at it. I’m genuinely excited to see what happens next and it really is one of the best animated US shows.
I just finished S2 and I gotta say- while this season has more dialogue than the last one, I didn't ever tgink to myself that it was stretched out or longer than it needed to be. All the scenes in Dracula's castle gave it a kinda Game of Thrones vibe, which I really enjoyed. While there were only 3 real fights I remember (Trevor's group against a bunch of demons on the road, the fight in the Belmont library and the fights in Dracula's castle) I thought that they got the balance right. It wasn't too few fights and everytime a fight happened you were excited to see it, as opposed to just growing tired of fught scene after fight scene. I also don't agree with your obvious critique of Godbrand. While you may not have liked his humor, he isn't really any more evil than any of the other vampires and had a lot of character and a role in the story. Honestly Godbrand was my favorite character for the last two episodes he was alive in. Also the fight scenes were perfect idk what you were talking about regarding the missing frames or shitty sound quality. The sound quality might be scenes where Trevor punches Dracula or other vampires and it sounds like his fists are hitting stone, which is intentional to signify that the punches aren't doing anything.
I can’t believe how far this series has come. I’ve played the original on the NES (frustrating as hell) but now it’s evolved into so much more than an 8-bit game. Crazy
Another great thing about the show that I'm surprised you didn't mention is the voice acting. Probably some of the best voice acting in an animated series I've seen in years.
That’s not true at all actually, www.vfxvoice.com/the-blood-sweat-and-vampires-of-anime-castlevania/ per this interview it was the producers who asked for more episodes They didn’t have enough episodes to fit the story so they “decided to go to Netflix and ask them to increase the episode count to eight. Fortunately they agreed,” They may not have gotten more budget (don’t know if that’s true or not either) but it definitely wasn’t Netflix forcing them to do it. he's said he liked Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency but dislikes Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable. If he does review Vento Aureo it'll be till it's complete. Assuming he's even watching it
I think the choppiness you see in the fight scenes is meant to convey force and gives a real hand animated feel. No points off on that from me. Also the explosions and fire animations are near the best I've seen.
dracula : crybaby
In my opinion its better than season one cause of the world building it does and how it masterfully sets up season 3 with the isaac and carmilla stuff. The "talking" works very well here, every conversation/dialogues gives you a little more about the world and lore.
Man, if only berserk had this kind of treatment. I would die a happy man.
Its what Berserk should've been... come on Netflix.
put your grasses on
nothing will be wong ;(
Fantastically choreographed fights, I'm glad you touched on that. The fight with the handful of different night-beasts breaking into the Belmont library was a favourite; by the choreography it was evident these creatures (and the people drawing them) actually knew how to fight and were thinking about it, rather than doing the typical monstery thing and swinging wildly at a target.
Dude you need to review the last seasons!!! its fucking amazing!!!!
Can't wait for S3 to start. If memory servers me, it's Curse of Darkness next where Hector turns into a beast.
Moist Meter: Warframe when?
been waiting for u to put this on the moist meter, thanks mate
I just realized the second season is out. Holy shiiiiiiit. I was waiting so long.
0:25 this aged well 😂
Even after I saw the filler episodes, I didn't think they felt out of place. At least they tied in well and it wasn't obvious fillers like a beach, or R&R episodes from other animes
What are some of the best Holloween movies of All Time?
Found the show by accident. Watched the first episode and I was hooked. By far the most beautiful animation I've seen.
Devilman Crybaby next
I think season 2 should have been them gearing up and hunting down Dracula’s generals and season 3 should have been them finding the castle and killing Dracula, the fact they went from 5 episode of searching around to “AH FUCK DRACULAS CASTLE IS HERE” was really jarring to me
What is a man? Nothing but a miserable pile of anime he watched.
My only problem is the length but the performance way compensates for that
10/10
You should watch kaiji or monster
Monster is really good and underrated, but for a reason. I only got through the first 7 episodes and then I never watched it again. Might finish it up though.
Yes my favorites!.
You guys have good taste
I caught a glimpse of this the other day and I’m about to watch it all. Good shit mhmhmhmhm
Literally everything you say you didn’t know is explained in the show, I think you have to pay attention
@@JiF28 Yeah, like wtf, his entire family was fucking annihilated, what more reason does he need? Was that guy watching this with his eyes closed? Fucking hell.
When Carmilla was like "What the fuck happened?" I lol'd hard.
Too bad this interrupted me from watching Castlevania
I loved it. Man, I loved how they did the ending. It was surprisingly sad
WATCH JOJO BIZZARE ADVENTURES DAMN IT
Jojo Romos eh the first two seasons was good but I can’t stand to watch stardust crusaders on up. I felt stands was just so out of place. Just my opinion. Also the “oh my god!!!” spam
@@matthewharrington420 i felt the same in the beginning. but after you get to know stands and what they are and can do. i actually think the show became a lot better
@@matthewharrington420 you thought spirit ghost were out of place in an anime that has sun karate, vampires, deities that preyed on vampires, hands that turn into squirrels, men that phased through other men, men living through decapitation... But spirits with abilities is where your suspension of disbelief kicks in... It's called JoJo's BIZARRE adventure
@@scottaification you gotta understand araki has been writing the manga for over 25 years. If every part was hamon and vampires it would have died off or just be a shadow of its former self. Stands can be damn near anything. Giant crusie liner. Sure. Comic book that can bring any drawimg to life. Sure. A literal street. You betcha.
@@scottaification and that what makes jojos amazing, its flexability.
First.

I wish he'd make another one now that it's finished
You really going through you’re Elon musk phase huh?
I really liked the season, episode 7 being my favorite. I hope the next season comes out sooner maybe if Netflix threw more money at it. I’m genuinely excited to see what happens next and it really is one of the best animated US shows.

Just binged the first season. Love it!
This ain't it Cheif
U should watch Goblin Slayer😂😂
just finished it and was waiting to watch your review till i was done. glad u rated it so high it was one of the best shows ive watched
It is true, they were forced to stretch out their art into more episodes by Netflix’s greedy crooked hands but weren’t given anymore budget.
That’s not true at all actually,
www.vfxvoice.com/the-blood-sweat-and-vampires-of-anime-castlevania/
per this interview it was the producers who asked for more episodes
They didn’t have enough episodes to fit the story so they “decided to go to Netflix and ask them to increase the episode count to eight. Fortunately they agreed,”
They may not have gotten more budget (don’t know if that’s true or not either) but it definitely wasn’t Netflix forcing them to do it.
It’s not always “netflix bad” you know...
Hoping season 3 budget is much bigger because they need to bring in more songs from the series bloody tears was so good during that fight near the end
Revisit it for seaso 4, freaking masterful
"Bloody Tears.", say no more...
I felt like the animation in s2 was very choppy.
1:32 Can't believe you forgot the godlike abillity of making boats out of random shit
that stunted fighting animation can be a style to save time but it’s easy to fuck up as you say happened towards the end
