Maynard would be so proud, but he is also playing in the heavens with Gabriel. I love the beauty of the sounds which sore as eagles fly. The control is very controlled. Thanks for sharing brother. Piece for the energy within.
@@BrianJonson Just a tip, One of my students seems to be a good candidate for an embouchure known as the "Stevens-Costello triple C embouchure technique" Some students adapt quickly to it. Others need more time. I was a pretty hard case myself. Anyway the first day that I taught my student I'll call "Mike" to play the Stevens embouchure he popped that same G/Double C. Obviously not as loud nor sustained as Lynn's was on this piece but still, IT WAS THERE!! In more recent lessons Ive brought him down to the middle register. And yet any time I want him to blow a high G or A he just hits it. I'm so proud of the guy..
Lynn, as always you've taken an instrument mastered by few and have shown us all what each of us can accomplish...not only by having the right chops, but having the right discipline and attitude. You are AMAZING!
Absolutely astounding and beautifully done!!! You might have to be a trumpet player to truely appreciate this. This is akin to a golfer hitting a 500 yard drive, which just doesn't happen, but this did. You're one in a few billion. A triple G with no resting up to that point? Just wow. I'm not sure what the tip is but it doesn't matter.
I've never heard you play better. Very few people could do that - in fact I don't know anyone else who can. I can't play it an octave lower. Simply incredible!
@@lynn95441 I believe it. It's really hard to play in tune up there. We give even the best players a break, understanding the difficulty, if they are a little out of tune, but even that last note (triple G?) was pretty well in tune. You probably don't remember me, but you were the lead trumpet and our section leader (I probably was 4th trumpet) at the Stan Kenton clinic at Towson State College (now Towson University) back when Hank Levy directed the Jazz Ensemble in 1974 or so. I think you joined Maynard's band shortly after that. My name is Scott Miller. I think you are a little older than me, so that makes this even more incredible, that you can still play so well 46 years later.
@@hivuhomes Thanks again.... I remember the clinic, but don't remember specific players..... Sorry.... I remember back then I was always trying to get on Kenton's band, but had no luck....Then, as if by magic, the Universe came along and said no, skip that, but here's Chase's gig, then shortly after, Maynard..... Chase and Maynard were actually my dream gigs, but didn't think I had a chance.... Funny how mysterious is the Universe...... Pursuant to the Aria, I just played in tune with Alice Bauer, the soprano. I breathed with her, phrased with her, used vibrato with her, imagined being 20 feet behind her on stage..... Never met her, but when I was done, felt like I actually knew her.... Another Gift from the Universe..... I've learned to trust Source/God for everything.... Less thought, more intuition, and everything goes far better than my Earth brain could imagine..... Maynard was like that, only more.... Another great Gift.....
@@lynn95441 Thank you so much for your response. I feel blessed to have communicated with you. Please continue to let God lead you; it's worked out very well so far! I'm not familiar with Alice Bauer, but after hearing about the impression she made on you I think I need to start listening to her. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us - including your photography, which is also pretty awesome!
I was absolutely gobsmacked( no pun intented) when I heard this, there are players who could take it down the octave and possibly get the G at the end, but to take the whole piece up an octave is incredible, I wouldn't have believed it unless I heard it
Our band director from school has always said to write what you play if you adlib, then take it to the heavens. He played some with Doc S. When you learn to control from the inner strength like you talked about in one of your videos showing the ab muscles and how to control and use them properly, there is no limit. Piece brother
I loved the explanation you gave on what you look for in a trumpet. It gets us to think of resonance as it relates to slotting and partials thank you Lynn for sharing your unbelievable talent.
Como lo logra ?!! No entiendo o.O Y el que me conteste con mucha práctica, le respondo por adelantado, Ni con cien años de práctica se llega a ese nivel. Aquí hay un tipo de estudio muy muy especial ...
Yes. I placed myself back in the mix so as not to over power the amazing voice of Alice Bauer.... I imagined myself being at the back of the stage, while Alice was at the front..... :)
Give this to a classical player and tell them, OK, use a cheater mouthpiece, use whatever mouthpiece you want, go ahead and cheat as shamelessly as you possibly can, cheat as shamelessly as Donald Trump cheats and lies, and lets see if you can play this.
Repeating 20 times this melody one octave up is my warmup routine
Ha!

Man that was awesome! What an incredible bit of trumpet playing going on. WoW!
That was the most beautifully played upper register etude I think I've ever heard, and executed perfectly! Well done!
Chris Compositions I agree with you Chris!!

That was the bet triple G I've ever heard.
Agreed!
That was only the third I’ve heard in my life :-)

what microphone do you use to record your trumpet and software to edit the audio with
What type of piccolo is that?
It's a Bb, deliberately placed far back in the mix....... Piccolo would be waaaay too tight for something like this.....
