    The playmat is a nice addition and sounds like the cards are imaginative and fresh. Thank you Tom and Melody for this informative review of what looks to be a terrific addition to the series.

    Thanks for your review Tom, I always make sure I check out your review before buying a game, and Rodney Smith's "Watch it played" before hosting a game.
    Please, use plastic bags to separate cards and not rubber bands :D
    Rubber bands will degrade (dry out) over time and meld themselves with the cards causing ripping and tearing of the card when removed :( (something I only recently discovered when I got hold of a lot of games that i had not had access to for a couple of years.)

      Something I've just thought of - Women's hair bands...!
      Elasticated, but covered by thin material so it won't meld with the cards over time :)

    I play a lot of Legendary solo; it's just a fun game and can be easily adjusted for both difficulty and game length. Villains' primary contribution is as an expansion to the base game. If someone could only buy one version, the original would be the way to go unless they are deeply enamored with the idea of being the bad guys. Legendary has solid gameplay, but the real motivation for playing is to engage the Marvel Universe; and with Villains adding to your toolbox, you unlock the potential to play fantastic "what if" scenarios, as well as unlikely team-ups from past Marvel storylines. I should mention that as an expansion, this probably should take a back seat to Dark City, and though I love the new playmat, I don't think it justifies the shelf-wrecking oblong box.

    I can't wait for this. My hero/villain team up has always been Spider-Man and Venom when they went up against Carnage. I'm looking super forward to playing that one out.

    My mind is about to explode. The possibilities are endless!!! Seems like the semi-cooperative element works better with this villain theme than the SHIELD agent theme. Working together but only looking out for yourself makes sense. Love the play mat vs. board too.

    I stopped using the original board (memorizing the locations wasn't that hard) but now I might actually use the mat because it looks cooler. Love the extra dimension the villains potentially add and agree with Riner that the "semi-coop" aspect makes more sense now. I'll definitely check this out and Dark Gothic (coming soon?) -- deckbuilder overload!!! :)

    2:57 so you mix core and villain up and play an evil scheme. Scheme car will say evil win condition and you would still win even if you didn’t defeat the mastermind or commander!!

    Great review! Hopefully I can pick this up soon but I'll be honest... I kinda want to keep playing as the heroes :P. It's great that you can finally mix villains and heroes now!

    Just finished a game (villains version) where I got over 43 attack in one turn, killed 3 Heroes then fought the Commander 3 times for the win. Wish I could post the pic. It was ridiculous. NEW RECRUITS FLASH MOB!!!

    Any thought on giving it another video on how some of the combined scenarios play out? I will pick this up because of the standalone aspect but its ability to combine with the Hero version will make it exponentially better if it's done well.

    Looks like all the locations are in the reverse order. Wonder how that will affect all the scenarios are characters that have location specific effects.

    Well, legendary is a cooperative and competitive at the same time. You can be friends with the other players, or be d*cks to one another.

    I cant wrap my head around how you can play co-op in the marvel legendary games...could someone explain?

    • @davidpeterson5179
      @davidpeterson5179 8 лет назад

      The co-op mode mainly is you don't worry about trying to get the most points, you make purchases and decisions that help the entire group instead of just your self interest. If we have a larger group and playing the hero side, we usually play Co-op, Villians or Big Trouble in Little China, we play "co-peditive" . As written.

    This set does sound more interesting to play than the base game to me.
    Originally, I wasn't even interested in this because you were playing as the Villains.

    Are KO'd cards removed from the game or "Trashed", or simply put into their Discard pile?

    It seems like the game has run it's course. They were digging the dregs for heroes so the logical move is to try and squeeze more money by going villains. I like the game but I have more than enough cards and no reason to build another game up with this. I can't imagine anyone playing this game so much to bother with the mix and match aspects.

    • @WillGodar
      @WillGodar 10 лет назад

      I wouldn't say this has run it's course just yet. Or at least not if you're a Marvel fan. We still don't have Dr. Strange, Captain/Ms Marvel, Luke Cage, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Antman, Winter Soldier, Hawk, She-Hullk, or any of the Runaways(I can dream). If you consider those "the dregs" then it's probably run its course with you but for my part I'm very excited to see what comes next.

    How does this game compare to the the base set of DC comics deck building game?

    • @CQuizeo
      @CQuizeo 7 лет назад

      navataru There is more depth to legendary but the simple and still somewhat strategic gameplay of just buying what pops your effects and adds to your deck best-which is what DC deck building game is as well as the fact that you actually play as Superheroes with a specific ability is just thematically cooler and is something left out in marvel legendary. Marvel legendary is more like a board game, more coop and big picture with minor villains while the same can be said about dc deck builder it's all about just collecting the most victory points which can be obtained with as low as 2am-3 super villains defeats instead it being the end all be all reward

  • @AlexanderTF

    Mats are more useful since, boards can rip and then you have to use clear duck tape to mend them and its painful since you ruin the games aesthetic look ...

  • @Arnoutish
    @Arnoutish 10 лет назад

    I'm sorry but I am in total disagreement regarding the placemat. Placemats are not nearly as good as gameboards when it comes to holding details and colors. Just compare a card that is printed on the gameboard with the actual card (such as a "new recruits" card). The detail on the new recruit card is A LOT better. Therefore I will always prefer gameboards over placemats. The game itself however is as good as you say it is. I absolutely love this game and the unique feel that every villain has.
