    That is nonsense about Russell Johnson saying that's the first time he every felt in danger. Who made up that story? He flew nearly 50 combat missions on a bomber in the south Pacific during WWII. His plane was shot down and his legs were badly injured. The Japanese were coming after them only to be held off by other planes strafing the area until they were picked up by a PBY.

    Thanks for posting this, Rick. I, too, was a great fan of "Gilligan's Island." It was just good, fun hokum!
    I checked Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson's bios on Wiki. Both were married to someone else during the show's run, from 1964 - 1967. Johnson was married to his second wife from 1949 to 1980, her death. They had two children and from all reports he was a devoted husband and father. It's doubtful he would have played around.
    Dawn Wells was married from 1962 to 1967, the last season of the show. Her marriage was deteriorating at the end and she could have been looking for a fling, but, you're right, it wouldn't have been Russel Johnson.
    Believe it or not, Dawn Wells is 79 years old and Tina Louise, who played "Ginger," is 84. As noted below, both are the only surviving members of the original cast.

      @mxlance1 6 лет назад +4

      I liked all 7, also.
      I guess you know that Jerry Van Dyke, Dick Van Dyke's brother, was originally offered the part of Gilligan first. He turned it down, thinking the show would be a dud and went with "My Mother The Car," instead. Of course, as we know, "My Mother The Car" is considered one of biggest flops ever to play on TV. It was a complete failure from start to finish.
      Jerry Van Dyke said many times in interviews that turning down "Gilligan's Island" was the worst professional mistake he ever made.

      I always loved the dream sequences; it gave us a chance to see all of the gang in different outfits and personas. And to get a peek at some of their versatility. When I was a kid growing up in the late 60s and early 70s (watching reruns, of course), I was SO in love with the Professor! And Gilligan, too, a little. But mostly, the Professor and I LOVED that particular episode where he kissed Mary Ann and was able to show off his comedic chops a little bit. Heh!

I watched the movie based on the cast and according to the actor who played Gilligan, (Bob Denver) he threatened to leave the show if the Professor and Mary Ann were not acknowledged at the beginning of the show like the rest of the crew. I always thought they'd make a good couple on the show. I thought they'd get together if the show went in that direction. Then I can see Gilligan and Ginger getting together and having a relationship where she bosses him around all the time and he's ok with it. I always felt bad that the Skipper would be left out of any relationship though. But maybe one of those surrounding island native women would show up again and he'd marry her. I thought he had the sensitivity to make something like that work.

    Just curious, why the heck would anyone think that in any context it’d be appropriate to inquire about a persons private personal life? Bad gravy ppl.

    Hi Rick, Another great video. Can you maybe start a weekly I Love Lucy trivia? Maybe break it up into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced knowledge so everyone can have a chance. No need for give aways. Just for fun.
    Also, do you have videos about The Andy Griffith Show or Carol Burnett? Another couple of greats!

    Gilligan's Island is one of my VERY favorites! Wonderful, creative, fun writers!! They had so many clever details in each episode!!! I don't know how they delivered their lines with a straight face! Love every minute of Gilligan's Island. Thank you for including it on your RUclips channel. Bob Backus (Nephew of Jim Backus) is a skilled Lapidary at the Gem & Mineral shows i go to. He works with stones and gems. He and his wife, Leilani, and Daughter, Jamie sale them and know everything there is to learn about gems, and fossils. They enjoy their work and teaching us how and where to find beautiful spheres, crystals, fossils, etc. The gem and mineral shows are in Ventura county, Ca. Thank you Rick for your FUN videos!! :)

    I never really got into Gilligans Island like that I watched it sometimes as a kid Now as an adult I get "it's tv" but there are just too many holes in logic for me to enjoy it If it was only going to be a 3 hour tour why did The Howells bring all their clothes their money and jewels and Mr Howell's teddy bear? And how was it all in perfect condition after a boat crash? Things like that
