- Crumbly, rustic, simple fruit scones served with a dollop of clotted cream and strawberry jam. So wonderfully British, so delicious, the taste of Summer! This is a paid ad.
NB. The edit gremlins are back and somewhere along the lines the 2 eggs that should have been added with the milk are missing!! Or you can add 150ml of milk if you don't want to add eggs. Check out full recipe here. www.jamieoliver...
Top tip - make an extra big batch and freeze the cut out dough. Then whenever you’re feeling peckish pop in the oven and cook until golden and warm.

You're a lifesaver.
He didn’t add eggs in the video? Why we having 2 eggs in the recipe ?
Read his description he says add 2 eggs and it makes sense without the eggs it was a little dry and eggs are needed in scones
Thank you….
I so appreciate your simplicity and way of teaching us to cook. I did this and so many of your recipes for my husband and family and we really enjoyed it. Thank you
I rewinded it three times to see where the eggs went in. They were visible……then gone…..
I tried this recipe & they were yummy! I made a rose water glaze for half of the batch & it was so simple and delicate. We ate the others with jam & butter. Thanks for the recipe!
That sounds yummy!! How did you make the rose water glaze? ❤
I made these scones today, but didn’t look at recipe, I followed what you did in video, and was thinking this dough is not binding together, so I thought I will just add 1 egg. Yes they did rise, yes they were lovely. But in video you don’t use eggs, but just looked at the recipe and 2 eggs should have gone in, so that’s why my dough didn’t bind together. 😊 so make sure you look at the recipe because no eggs mentioned in video. But taste Great thanks Jamie.
Hi Jamie, I'm about the same age as you, I've been following you since your beginnings. Everything I know about cooking is thanks to you 👍😉 Have a lot of your books and DVD's. There's no other like Jamie! The best!!!
YAAAAAY! Big love Ewik!
Made these yesterday. Had to 1/2 the recipe. They came out good...very good....made me proud. Will make again. Unable to find clotted creme here in Central AL. Just used butter and jam.
Who doesn't love a scone with jam and clotted cream?!!! Lovely jubbly!
Richard Crane Me.
Devonshire tea is my favourite!
I like butter then cream,jam
People allergic to jam or cream?
I just love your beautiful Scones. I keep on watching it. I love the way you explain them 😅. Thankyou so much Jamie Oliver. GOD 🙏 BLESS 🙏❤️ You 🙏❤️💖💖😘 and Your family.
This is the easiest and best scone recipe I ever came across after trying out dozens others. The scones came out perfectly!!! Thanks so much Jamie!!
made this and it came out perfectly!! i added 2 eggs and more milk as my dough was so dough-y haha. one batch had 17 scones for me and it was delicious with jam! thanks jamie❤
Same , i had to add much more milk 🥛 was to dry without it 😅
@@maggiewalshkahlout6364 me too!! i added a lottt of milk while making the dough, it was crumbly and not set. but the milk did the job
I can’t believe the way was easy to make them!!I have watched to many recipes, but James Oliver’s the easiest one!!Thank you so much and good luck for you with creativity!
You never live a list of ingredients and proportion! Impossible to repeat your recipes!
It's in the description box :)
Already made the dough! In the oven within the next few minutes! Great recipe! I replaced the flour with oat flour to give it a little more nutrients and used coconut oil instead of butter! The dried fruits with the orange juice already taste amazing on their own I can't wait to try the scones when they're done 😍🍪
Katharina Vollmer update on how they came out please! I'd love to try out your substitutions! hopefully the texture is similar
How did they turn out with oat flour?
They turned out amazing and taste delicious! They just don't rise as much but they're still fluffy. Check out my insta @beahealthystudent for a picture ☺️
Wow! Thank you, I will definitely try! ^ 0 ^/
Thank you Jodi☺️
Traditional Irish style scones have an egg in the mix. I think it makes them less crumbly and allows you to make larger scones if you choose. We also make brown scones with wholemeal flour
So does this recipe.
Best scones recipe ever so easy to make can change up the fruit 👍so delicious fun to bake so let's all make scones. Mine will be with whipped cream & cherry jam yum😊thanks Jamie love from New Zealand ❤
Just realised he missed the part where he put eggs in. This is my fifth time making these from this video and always wandered why my flour wasn’t binding when I added a “Splash” Of milk 😂
yes exactly... i was also wondering where's the milk????
@@pinkishfrog indeed, how could he missed that important ingredient out! I viewed 10 times, couldn't believe it.....
@@ivyksh ruined my entire recipe as well. first time baking, thought i'll try his "simple" scones and it was a disaster with his "splash of milk"
But how many eggs?
@@nancynehme3043 i noticed he wrote that in the editing, the 2 eggs that were supposed to be added, didn't make the video cut 😊
I just made these scones 15 mins ago and forgot about the eggs
since I only watched this video and did not go to the website
to see the actual recipe.
I ended up adding extra milk (3/4 cup) since I found it a bit dry.
However, the scones turned out AMAZING!!
I know right? I was like whys there egg in the recipe
Do you need eggs? If so how many?
@@komrad7907 2 eggs, in the description box under the video he says that they got lost in the editing.
@@suejames3208 okay thank you!! I didn't notice
Made them last night and for the first time ever I got amazing scones! Highly recommend this!
Congratulations Alexandra! did you add them the two eggs or not?
@@gloriagarza4149 Haha I cannot remember now, just follow the recipe I am sure you will end up with some amazing scones!
Baking scones is so therapeutic and luckily I had some hungry children to feed them to!!!
Came out Perfect & Tasty. Made a strawberry coulis to eat with. Instead of 8 tbs milk i used 8 tbs milk to form the dough..thanks Jamie ❣
So we're just gonna Swtich between Scones and Scons... Okay Jamie... Okay
😂
@Diana21692 unless you’re a twat!
Yummy! Good recipes! Thank you!
I know right! Pick a team mate!
Cracked me up. 😂
Jamie Oliver is all you need to learn how to cook great dishes no matter what budget a person has. Most important kids started to eat with pleasure everything I cook using Jamie’s recipes. His son, Buddy, also cooks great and kids can learn cooking. Just like father simple and fast and most important affordable. Got the books as well, just awesome!
I was worried for about 2 minutes, but then you used extra virgin olive oil and the universe didn't implode.
lolz
It didn't but it was probably politely holding its nose instead. I think virgin olive oil is not a very nice idea. Freshly baked scONes are all in the milky yummy smell, like yeast is to freshly baked bread. You don't want a strong odour of pizza instead.
at least use the light olive oil
Yes, but quite honestly its pure laziness. @JamieOliver seems to specialise in quick fixes rather than good cooking. He even forgot the eggs. It's no wonder he doesn't suggest we just swallow cups of raw flour and jam!
Dam right about the eggs. Some of his cooking is good but some are ugh.. Bacon sandwich..
This is like the only scone video on RUclips shorter than 5 minutes!
I was planning on making scones very soon but couldn't find the perfect recipe, and now I wake up to this! Thanks Jamie, I'll definitely have to try it out! Looks delicious!
I'm so glad I found this recipe! I have been looking for scones without eggs. Thank you!
I know right. I KNOW that when I was taught at school, the egg was just for an egg wash. I was certain there was no egg in the mix. Now suddenly, everyone's putting egg in their mixture... I blame Mary Berry 😂
“Clotted cream has to be one of the most ridiculous delicacies in the world” 😄
Will try this recipe!
Just made these for the family while under quarantine along with some clotted cream, cheers Jamie!
is clotted cream = cream cheese?
@@worldcitizeng6507 no. Not by a long shot. It's thick cream, like you would get on a cake. But not pressurised crap from a can.
Whipped cream :)
Love the simplicity! Thank you.
My daughter made this after watching
Excellent
Ma Sha ALLAH
You make everything so easy Jamie, I can actually do it at home by myself. Thank you
Jamie i just did yr scones ..you make it super simple to do it..thank you.. it tastes good..light n tasty.
Wow. What a great guy , tried making the scones and they was great....thanks Jamie.
This is an amazing scone recipe. It is the 3rd time I have followed the recipe. I am confident it will be good
I don't know who needs to hear this but - yes you need to add eggs. 2 large ones according to the full recipe. It seems that video footage didn't make the cut! Great recipe though, thanks Jamie
I didn't add eggs 😃
But it came out fine
Hi James, I'm from Argentina and I just made those scones, and they are awesome!
Congratulations! Dis you add the eggs, a substitute for them or no eggs at all?
@@gloriagarza4149 not eggs at all :)
@@Karennotkarina Great!!!! Thank you!!!!
If you made them without eggs and still think that they're delicious, then I'm sorry, but you've never eaten proper scones in life mate. This recipe is wrong. Proper British scones are nowhere near as dry and hard.
@@fernandon0s1 there is eggs in it.. the video has been edited wrong… it says so in video description… 😂
I agree though… would be very dry without them 😂😂
Jamie Oliver: The kind of guy to use olive oil as sunscreen!.
hahahhahaahhaaha
Ive do e that.
Hes good ah!.
Love Jamie's personality ...and his cooking he ADORES olive oil 🫒 so funny
Hi Jamie, on your website you add 2 large eggs and milk to these, and it seems many others do that too. Is this just an oversight on this particular video, or is there a reason those ingredients are omitted?
I have the same question….what about the 2 eggs?
I don't believe this is a proper recipe. It needs eggs and the measurement he said compared to what he actually used seemed different (500g flour. 15og butter)🤨
I add an egg and vanilla extract to my blueberry scones. Will have to try the dried fruits soaked in OJ. YUM!
Bonne Maman Jam, I like it very much! Nice scones recipe, I'll try it :D
Jamie Your The Best chef In The World 🌎 I Really Love Your Cooking 🔪🤤 I Watch You Every Day.
My English teacher wanted me to do these. I don't regret it.
I love this scone recipe without egg! Thank you.
I LOVE how inexact he is....that's someone who knows how to make scones and has done so numerous times.
a little too inexact if you ask me
Multumesc pentru retetă, Jamie! Ma bucur ca am gasit rețeta, o voi pregati de Revelion. Iti doresc sanatate, precum si intregii tale familii, sa aveti un An Nou cu multe realizari! 🙏🏻💖
I have been waiting so long for a good recipe for scones. Thank you Jamie

You made it so effortlessly that I do believe I, too, can make this! Thanks!
I have to try these scones! Delicious! Great job, Jamie! :)

Please don't they will flop. He forgot the eggs, without their added holding power and moisture you're going to get horrible flat dense rocks, about as far from a scONe as you can get.
Secrets In The Oven - Food Channel p
I wanted to check the ingredients so googled the written recipe but there were 2 eggs in there. I was a little confused. In the end I did it without the eggs. It took more than a splash of milk though, to bring the dough together. I’d say almost 200ml. In the end it turned out great.
Ooh lovely but being Cornish the jam goes first😍 lovely easy recipe thanks Jamie 💅🏻
I was in West Cornwall last week at a lovely farm/tea shop and put the cream on first. I was concerned that they'd throw me out :)
This recipe and the one of ‘chef Julien’ are the best recipes. Lovely 💓
I tried making them and they turned out to be amazing!!!! Thnx a ton!!!
Jamie, love the video, really do. And I understand that ads are a necessity for a channel like yours. But please brother, bring us back the old videos of you cooking amazing meals. Long video's, with new techniques and ingredients and whatnot!!
Ohhh freshly made proper scones, can't resist !
So often i see them on cafes and they are dry and lame. Only in proper tea shops you get the tasty ones.
I just put the scones in the oven. It’s the third time I make them, I can’t wait! 🤤
Yum!! Yet another recipe I’ll make 😁 - thanks Jamie!! I’ll make for our afternoon

I m terrible at cooking. Tried this recepie and it s fool proof even for me!!
Lovely content! Keep it up!
I always go clotted cream first as well! Never tried making these. Will definitely be trying these in the near future!

This looks so amazing! 🐰
Thanks Jamie. My mixture was a bit wetter than your mixture. So I put it in the oven for 20 mins. Came out very well.
You should use more flour instead of putting it in the oven then it wouldn't be so wet, you used to much milk
him going "i love you" to the scone in the end makes me feel at home tbh
I make mine with fruit or grated cheese and both are yummy. Thanks again Jamie
Mmmmm - cheese scones are SO GOOD!
I’d just finished making scones before I started watching this but I made plain scones
Yum 😊. I make scones at least once a week, plain, fruit or cheese.
For me, personally, I slap on jam first, then the cream lol
I don't know if you know, the first known scone originated in Scotland. Scone is a old Scots word meaning fine bread, it could be any fine bread therefore, in Scotland we have lots of different kinds of Scones, Oat scones, Drop scones (Orkney Recipe), potato scones, Soor Dook scones, Soda Scones, Traditional Scottish Scone which is the first mention of scone in history, it is the recipe you are using but without the baking soda.
They are all amazing!
I wonder if you could try some Scottish Recipes?! Just for fun, to show the diversity of Scones.
Traditionally, when making a Scottish Scone you make a big around Scone and cut it into triangles, like a big loaf of bread, hence why Scone means Bread in Scots.
What is the point of self raising flour if you are adding salt and baking powder?
Simply an extra rise guarantee.
Hello Mrs Jamie Oliver please contact me at my place OKAY phone number is 202 509-5701 & Tell Tyra Mae Thornton Munson that her father said please contact him when ever she has the right time Okay Love thank you very much your Friend 4 Life Congredulations on your mountain wedding with your Husband tell him I said just take care of Ya'll Mr.Beverly ! Yes not nice, over egging the baking powder leaves a distinct unpleasant taste. Self rising is sufficient.
@@arthuuu_ he meant his wife i think
@Georges
Mary Berry also recommends SR flour plus baking powder . . days it works better. Why, I don't know.
Perfect. In the US scones are hockey pucks. People have no idea how delicious real scones are
there he goes with his olive oil😂😂😂
Love love love Jamie's recipes and his presentation
Could you please tell me what is your kitchen worktop made of? Looking for a cheaper alternative to conglomerate / marble.
I really wish clotted cream was a thing here in the U.S. I made it once and was blown away by it.
Whip double cream.
When youve followed this video for 2-3 times, and just realised on the description that the bit where he added eggs is not in the video 😂
😂 😂 😂 I have done the same thing, had to see if you even add them.
Plenty of us aren't from the UK, it will be nice & cool of you to share a recipe for clotted cream
Whip the thickest dairy cream you can buy.
I love how he makes it such a big deal that he's advertising his own damn stuff for less than 5 seconds and meanwhile all the American RUclipsrs spend half their time recommending websites and audiobooks they've never touched in their lives like they'll starve if you don't buy it
Follow all of his recipe and it's the best scone ever. (don't forget to add eggs!)
I love lemonade scones
Cream first? What a plank. Nice looking Scones by the way!
I messed up my scones following the video not realizing two eggs were missing.. I kept adding more "Splash of milk" and ended up adding an egg, but it was too overworked by the time I try to fix the problem. Was it really hard to just add a caption over the video saying "add two eggs"??
jinnycello yes he could but he would have to re-upload the video.
I made my first scones yesterday and they are lovely and delicious. I found your video today and will try this one soon. I make my own self-rising flour using 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon of salt to each cup (125 gm) of all-purpose flour. Should I add an additional 2 teaspoons of baking powder to the recipe as you did? What is clotted cream? I am from the USA. Thank you! 😊
Yes I'd use his 2 teaspoons of baking powder as he was using self raising flour anyway and he still added it in. So yes use it in your homemade flour. Clotted cream is an English term for a double whipped thickened cream :)
Cream on top. Always!
Scones tasted yummmm.... my kids just loved them 😍
Thank you!
Guys, you forgot the eggs when you edited this video. I saw the shorter version on Jamie's facebook and it had eggs there :)
+Lari L Good spot Lari. The edit gremlins have been at work and the adding eggs section has been omitted. You add 2eggs or 150ml of milk at the mixing stage depending if you want them more or less crumbly. X
Oh, those sneaky edit gremlins. Thank you for the clarification. Can't wait to try this recipe
Jamie Oliver Jamie, can you explain what clotted cream is...? Or is there maybe an American substitute? I'm not sure...
o man I just finished and added both eggs and milk
Clotted cream is a thick cream made by indirectly heating full-cream cow's milk using steam or a water bath and then leaving it in shallow pans to cool slowly. Devonshire cream is a great substitute.
My late mum use 2 make scones 4 me and my brother wen was kids, she never used oil at all! They turned out so yummy? With strawberry jam and cream 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Yes Jamie do it for Devon!!!!!
Cream first?? You're an absolute madman!! 😅😅😅
