Jesse, thank you for sharing. It's so nice that you are such an open person. I hope your new job will bring you satisfaction, fulfilment and lots of fun! Good luck to you and your family!
I appreciate your story and the language barriers. The non verbal cues and the facial expressions especially. I've been contracting in Seattle for 20 years and I still have a hard time passing the tech screen interviews. Good job!
Just want to say thanks for describing your experience. This is one of the first videos I watched when studying for my interviews. Eventually went on to interview with Google. Didn't get that job but did get a FAANG job.
Jesse, thank you for sharing. I had a similar experience with one of the other big 4 companies. The process left me less a fan of the opportunity. To me, it seems like the process requires everyone to conform to a certain way of thinking. I'm no expert, but that reduces the pool of creative thinking available for those companies. Also, if I use a compiler to assist my development 24 hours a day, I'm less good at programming without a computer. So why test your ability to program without a computer? It really doesn't wash.
Yes, for bigger companies it probably doesn't matter much if they inadvertently reject good candidates because they have so many good candidates applying. For smaller companies it is probably better to use a different process.
Very helpful video. How did you go about growing your professional twitter account though? I'm not really familiar with twitter, how do you make professional, and potentially meaningful connections on twitter?
Start by following people who work on repos that you use and are doing the jobs that you want to do. Encourage others on Twitter and share helpful and positive content. When you meet other devs, especially at conferences, follow them on Twitter and keep in touch. Most importantly, don't do it for the numbers. Really connect with people and make an effort to help or encourage them.
I have a new grad interview tomorrow at SAP and I am beyond nervous and don't know too much of what to expect. I applied for a frontend engineering position so i am expecting some frontend and also DS/Algo stuff but i really do not know what I may be asked. And there are concepts I generally do not know and i am just afraid to be embarrassed in the interview. Any advice?
At this point, just try to relax and build yourself up mentally. Listen to music or watch a movie that makes you feel confident. If there is something you don't know, just say that you don't know, but explain how you would find out the answer.
Ok for front end developer they only asked you about Html , Css or Javascript? There wasn't any questions related about other topics like Js Frameworks? And Yes Really Good Video I ever seen.
Great Video !!! One thing, can u tell me how much work experience do u have coz it's weird that they didn't ask any Data Structures and Algorithm questions?
Hi Jesse! Thank you so much for sharing! I had a similar experience with Amazon a few weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing/reading your future posts - could you please share the "coding interview" book that you mentioned? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jesse, were all interviews JS/frontend based? Were there any data structure/algo questions at all?
From what I remember, they were all front end related.
Ok for front end developer they only asked you about Html , Css or Javascript? There wasn't any questions related about other topics like Js Frameworks? And Yes Really Good Video I ever seen.
There were no questions about frameworks. I did bring up how I would solve a problem in react for one of the interview questions though.
Definitely happy after listening, Google don't ask Data structures and Algorithms Ques for Front End Engineer Interviews 🤩😍
I like the way you tell your experience. Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Google hires front end engineers or web developers?
This particular interview with google was for a front end engineer position i think
Watching in 2021, Thanks man 🤝
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!

At the point of the interview I think I had four or five years. I think they didn't ask any algo questions because it was a frontend position.
@@JesseWeigel Thank you so much for replying. :)
