- This one is sad. We get to learn more about Olan but at what cost...
To get this you must have taken Joy as Brad and give some joy to Olan (2-3 maybe)
Special thanks to @mafioso9668 for letting me these exist and how to get them!
Special thanks to @mechawilson3978 for telling me about the bar!
And yes reupload cause i thought it be better to combine them together. - Игры
I'm glad we got to know more about Nolan's family and why he's so broken. Giving him joy has got to be one of the worst things Brad can do
I don’t think he knew Olan would mutate at the time. I think he just thought it would give him the “benefits” he had.
i think brad just wanted to give olan the same coping mechanism he used
it's actually scary to think that seeing mutant olan could be a reflection of what brad was going to turn into in the future
Having this be Joy exclusive is such a melancholy feeling. Olan is an og on alot of people's first partys, so when he brought up that he's proud of his daughters even if he has no right to be since he wasn't there, it hurt me.
🙂
I'm glad Definitive Edition expanded on Olan's backstory. It was mentioned in his character bio that he neglected his family but that was never explored in the original version of the game. It broke my heart seeing the guilt he's plagued with over how he treated them. _"I was a stranger in my own home. Even when I was there, I wasn't really there."_
It makes him and Brad a lot more similar then at first glance as well, both of them are shouldering the guilt of abandoning their loved ones, with Brad it's Lisa while with Olan it's his family and both are abusing substances to cope with that pain. I feel like the two can relate to each other on some level.
Makes Brad offering him joy a lot more painful
i'm glad that something that was originally a character bio only trait was properly expanded upon ingame, that's the best kind of thing
and FUCK is it sad
This is the prize for complaining about canonical joy addicts not being affected by the in-game craving. Damn it, Austin.
Damn. Olan always seemed like the best bud for Brad. I guess this is karma for him going back on Joy..
i played joyless for literally 4 years until recently i realized i never used joy so i used it and the game is so much easier with joy
The challenge is in joyless tbh, if you know how to play the game it's too easy joyed.
The worse part is that Brad did this out of a misguided sense of helping Olan. If only he knew that Olan wasn’t ready for joy’s euphoric effect.
Even worse, no one in-universe (except Buzzo and Yado) knows that the joy is what’s causing people to mutate and that a few pills are enough to set you on the path.
@@OzzieapologistIf you take any joy at all you will eventually become a mutant
@@skeletonbuyingpealts7134 Yeah I know, but only Buzzo and Yado know this. Not even Brad or Buddy have a chance of discover the link between the mutation and drug, which means Olathe may be doomed as long as joy exists.
@@OzzieapologistThankfully production is probably over
@@skeletonbuyingpealts7134 i dont think its over as long the joy boys exist Joy will too and if we are being onest here we dont even know how joy is made
Y'know, honestly surprised this didn't happen more in the game. So many members are Joy Addicts, even in the older version, that I'm surprised there weren't more events where they turn to mutants and you lose them like with Olan here.
Right, especially with how they made other party members like El Rage a joy addict in the definitive version. I think it would be neat if there were new campfire conversations that would open up if you used joy on the addicts enough times. There could even be conversations between a "joyless" Brad and party members that suffer an addiction.
When I first encountered this one it broke me.
This is easy the worst thing Brad does.
Honestly the sad thing is that he might be happier that way.
Considering theres no evidence of bloodshed on the way (no blood or bodies around the bar), he might've just skipped the Murderous phase of the mutation completely and just went dormant while in/over the bar.
I can't tell if that makes it better or makes it *worse.*
thats what joy does, it basically erases their very emotions
CRYING SUPER HARD RN
i think even more fucked up shit like this should happen when you make your party members take joy
Same, always wondered what Harvey looked like as a joy mutant.
seeing the world littered with past beloved party members would be sick, and sickening at the same time. like seeing a deformed nern hunched over sitting on his chair where you met him.
@changvasejarik62 Now I'm curious if joy can affect any other creatures besides humans. Just imagine a joy mutated bear or moose...
This one is just MEAN...
NOOOO not the Olan!!!
I was so scared he was gonna mutate and fight Brad when you wake up, but he was thankfully lucid enough to head off before turning.
Does this conversation go differently if Brad goes through a joyless run?
Edit: Joyful path only.
When I got this campfire cutscene I knew I was witnessing a tragedy unfold :(
Got a new scene with just bo wyatt
Does this happen in a joyful or joyless route? Or does it not matter?
This only happens in the Joyful route. Olan will be fine if your joyless (No campfire interactions on Joyless tho)
@@MapleEllie2 so that's why i never got this
Well, i might have never been Much Of An "Og Gang" Man (Im Sorry Terry, But I Belive There Should Be Only 1 support guy per team) But This Was Very Very Sad To Hear
on my first playthrough i admittedly gave him up the second i had the chance. when i fought him later i went "who are you?"
made the fight a lot less emotional
@@dokomni I Never Give Up Terry (Except in challenge Runs Like combo dial only) because it's the Lord of the tutorial, This isn't how I'm paying back to him
@@HeavyWeaponsGuyisHorny fair. i kept him in my second playthrough in the new update
@@dokomni damn, I played the original like five times because I played it myself, Played it again choosing stuff I wouldn't choose normally, Fandubbed it, Combo Dial Only And at last, A Challenge run where I took joy for every fight
@@HeavyWeaponsGuyisHorny a fandub sounds fun! if only i had people to fandub it with...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a campfire scene with Pink, Carp, and Bo?
i watched olan's second conversation in the area 3 campfire and it was creepy seeing it with all the lisas watching over olan and brad, i could imagine lisa thinking 'brad you fucked up again'
Jesus.
Question, can this trigger if I don't give Joy to Brad but do give Joy to any of the other addicts that join you? Exact party members I am referring to are Carp, Queen Roger, Clint Olympic, Buckets, Dick Dickson, and Tiger Man. Also if I do use joy on any of those six, can I still recruit Ajeet as long as I don't have Brad take any? I already got the Joyless End Achievement years ago in vanilla so I am not concerned in not being able to see that epilogue again. Playing on Normal still for this new playthrough of Definitive on Steam. Pain Mode? Maybe one day.
So does Nern have 2 campfire stories or do you only get this one?
W Video
Wasn't there an unused sprite of Olan being a Joy Mutant before the remastered version? (Though it's a little different like he still has his hat.)
I'm guessing Austin decided to bring back a cut plot line.
Olan is a real one
Lore of LISA: Definitive Edition - Olan and Brad's Joyful Campfire Conversation momentum 100
So uh random sufgestion: make a comalation of all the misc. "Campfire interactions" that can happen, sutch as Beastborn getting some domestic jerkey, or Buckets winning/loseing a game of russian roulete
