Just bought the same Big Bear a week ago. Changing the Carb on it today. Still have to find the exhaust heat shield. My dad had one when i was a kid and I loved it. He still has it and it runs like a champ
Some older big bears like mine had one cable controlling the throttle while the choke had a pull know on the side. Not exactly sure but I think Yamaha added a choke control o the handle in later years hence the second cable
@@thehonestmechanic that’s what I was thinking too but from what I am reading in the manual on the older model they have two throttle cables going in the carb. One moving the piston valve on the top and the other moving the throttle. There is a splitter halfway down the throttle cable that splits it from one cable to 2 going to the carb.
Yes your welds are not perfect, but those atv mufflers are super thin material wise, so welding them is extremely difficult. In all honesty, that patch job looks good, you did a great job sizing and fitting the metal in place. 👍
Nice to find your channel. I've done some other older Moto4's on my channel and am about to pick up a Big Bear for a rebuild. Nice work with the exhaust. It's hard to find replacements for these units.
This mini series had been very help in my fixing up a Big Bear just like yours. I continue to run into obstacles though. One I hoped you may be able to help me with is the front transfer case oil. I pulled a CV axle to rebuild and quite a bit of lubricant came out with it. I cannot find any pictures or videos of how to refill the gear box. I cannot find a bolt, plug, or fill tube going to it either. Have you any insight on how to fill it back up? Thanks!
Thanks Evan for the comment! I will make a video on how to replace the front diff oil. Once I do, I'll try to notify you right away. Again, thanks for the support!
anyone tell me how wide the big bear is tire to tire, I don't know if it fits in my trailer and can't find is the width of 48 inches does that include the tires or not? is it 48 plus tires at 60 wide or 48 with tires included. I have yet to pick up the bear and need to know if it will fit in my truck bed
My big bear is 44 inches wide with my 27 inch tires. The overall length is approximately 80 inches. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting and I hope you enjoy your big bear as much as I do!
@@thehonestmechanic Well, we took a gamble and shoved the 88 big bear into a trailer 44 inches wide... front tires were tighter than the rear oddly but it fit! are the front tires wider I wonder... Thanks for your uploads, my daughter and I will be working on our big bear in tandem to watching your instructional videos, and kudos to her camera work.
not sure if my translation is correct but you are asking the mileage i have on this big bear. My odometer is not very accurate and only displays up to 999 kms. If i had to guess, it currently indicates 365 and it has rolled over at least once so...1364 KMS. Hope this helps !!
Nice video. Plain and simple demonstration of the brake caliper repair and adjustment. Well done.
Thank you! Much appreciated 🙏

Does anyone know the difference between the single cable carb and the dual cable carb?

@@ryana3679 I have it in the shop for another video (spoiler alert)LOL I'll take a look in the morning and get back to ya
@@thehonestmechanic you rock bud! Thanks.
Thanks for the video now I know how my rear brakes work on my $200 big bear

I got the same big bear seat cover everything
What is it when your tire dozen moves when you put it in gear? The right side front tire
I think you are referring to when I applied the front brake lever on the right side of the handle bar. A few things were stuck inside the drum
@@thehonestmechanic Thank for that,Do I need to replace the drum
@J Smith that would depend on how worn it is. It would be advisable to measure it and compare with OEM specs
New aftermarket muffler on Amazon $40, new oem muffler $300-$500.
OEM is expensive. I am curious about the aftermarket quality

Какой пробег у него, я нашёл в России с пробегом 2300 км и хочется понимать сколько он ещё будет ездить? Спасибо

Не знаю если поможет но у меня на работе есть такой же с 10000km
All I got to do with it is to put a new carburetor on it
