    I'm very warm blooded. Since I started wearing my plain gray kilt to stay cool in the summer, I'm much more comfortable and cooler. I run my chainsaw and do my firewood chores in it. My neighbors don't even think twice about it anymore. I wish I could have worn a kilt during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. The Marines would have a kilted uniform if I was in charge! Thanks guys! Keep up the good work!

      Hey um, we actually do have a kilt btw, look up the Leatherneck tartan, we also have dress blues as well for them if you're in a bagpipe company, but if not you do have the option of the Leatherneck tartan or USMC tartan, same thing but different ways to search it, I have 1 already and I have a hybrid one coming in soon, I've also seen guys on deployment who make the MARPAT desert camo into tartans as well, but semper fi brother, and have a nice day

    My summer wear is a polo shirt for a casual look. For a dressier look I opt for a linen or seersucker shirt and a linen vest. I don't have an issue with the wool kilt. Kilts tend to be cooler than pants or shorts because your legs are not incased in fabric. I also wear a 5 yard kilt.

    It's 103 here is San Antonio TX at 5:20 in the afternoon. Im wearing a canvas utility kilt, a sleeveless shirt. And I wear a mesh flatcap. I'm 6'2" and 383. This isn't the hottest day yet.

    For the 2 or 3 days of summer that we get in the UK we just dress down by wearing, as you suggeted, either a tee, polo or, if you want to be more formal, a short sleeved shirt. Carry a jacket over your shoulder if you feel the need ( maybe a lightweight Harrington?). The wool kilt is fine if you go commando, as you get good air conditioning from nature. these days you can get corporate tees and polos (and embroidered Harrington jackets) so if you are wearing it for business you can maintain the corporate image and still look stunning.

    A lace up Ghilie shirt can look smart and would certainly help with the heat. It's becoming more common in Scotland, for summer weddings, simply be we aren't used to the heat.

    My daily summer wear is a grandfather style linen shirt with either a wool kilt or a untilikilt. I do get a few odd look when I wear with this combination with one of my "Vietnam Veteran" baseball caps, but I do not care.

    As an attorney in Dallas, Texas, who has walked to the courthouse in wool suits many, many times in my 18-year career, I will say that what you wear on top plays more into how hot you feel as compared to what you wear on bottom.

    Texas heat is tough, but it's the sun that gets me as I am... "folicly challenged". I wore a scally cap at a recent Celtic Fest, but my ears and the back of my neck burned to a crisp. I know it's not traditional, but I'm seriously thinking of wearing my cowboy hat next time (no... not with cowboy boots! 😄). Any other suggestions for keeping Mr Sun at bay?

    I want a pv kilt (davidson) does it come in more colors then just the ancient or is this the only dye pattern due to limited colours pv will absorb.

    • @USAKiltsOfficial
      @USAKiltsOfficial  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately, the Davidson Ancient is the only color palette that the mill weaves for the Davidson tartan. Poly Viscose yarns can be dyed to any shade (that's not the issue), but the mill only carries about 100 tartans in PV and don't do Davidson Modern.

  • @messenger3478
    @messenger3478 Год назад

    Honesty, it really isn't how many layers you wear. It's more so the fiber and weave of the fabric. You can get away with a coat in the summer if it is made from the right fabric. With what I have in my closet I like to wear a lightweight button shirt sleaves rolled up, and a lightweight waistcoat for hot days. I don't oun any jackets or coats for my kilt.
