I had to rewind and double check crew dog R2's impromptu flight as he was passed to you Beth. 😂😂. I feel like he was trying to steal the show with his fluffy cuteness.
Another awesome video! Loved seeing how a full crewing works and what it all entails. Side note: My horse will not be a long distance horse anymore. He has neurological issues in his hind end and is sound for light riding only. Had the vet out almost a week ago for a full lameness evaluation. He was diagnosed with Grade 1 Ataxia and he is on steroid shots to see if that helps and than I am going to look into chiropractic work.
@@bethendurance I have some sad news. I had to have my horse euthanized today because he got way worse and went down in the pasture. By the time my mom and I got to the barn, he was up, but he was resting his head on the gate. He could only walk sideways when I took him out of the pasture. The vet came out and we went over options, but he was in too much pain to put him through even more tests. He also wouldn't have made it to the main university we have here in Minnesota that could've done lots of neurological tests. I made the decision to euthanize and let him go in peace.
Oh no, I'm so so so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you, I can't begin to imagine the hurt. But atleast he's at peace now, you did the right thing x
My old instructor would pull our heads off if we cantered on tarmac back in the day. I assume ou guy know what you're doing though x Great video! hopefully we will see you on Kanga Roo soon!
A horse has to be very balanced to get away with it, it's quite normal in endurance racing but not in training. Azid is doing really well, they're going to their first event together this weekend. Hopefully I'll get Roo out before the end of the season 🤞
So cool. You've inspired me to ask into crewing for someone in an upcoming ride here in CA, USA. I don't know any endurance riders but I'm a new member of AERC, so I'm just gonna ask! -Holly
Hi beth as an endurance rider from another country i appreciate your videos! Can you do a video with what shoe you use for races? Do you use pins? We dont have that much courses with road involved. In this video there is both asphalt and water how do they not slide?
Hia, so my horses have tungsten pins drilled into their steel shoes for grip and I pad the front feet. But the two in this video don't have any pins or studs they're just very well balanced. X

The handle on his harness comes in very handy 🤣 x
This was so interesting! I'm sorry about the horse failing the vetting, but congrats to the other! And the comment about the veggies had me laughing.
Loved the video, it was so much fun to watch and learn how important the crew is!
Thank you! Definitely, the crew are a huge part of the team, a good crew can make a race! X
Looks so much fun!
