A 10km relaxed hack with Estrid - Vlog 261 - Beth Endurance
We are a few weeks into 2025 and we've only just managed a full week of our actual scheduled training. I pre-empted a variable start to the year with weather, work and training so I have set my sights later into the endurance season so that I feel less pressure if training doesn't go exactly to plan.
Estrid is not the type of horse you can plunge head first into anything and expect the best from her, so although an early 80km or 1* would have been lovely, I think she will do better with a softer and slower ease into competing again. Fitness wouldn't be our issue but her confidence definitely improves with repetition, so to optimise our chances of success I am going to do a few lower distan...

Groundwork poles for training an endurance horse - Vlog 260 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 55716 часов назад
It's always frustrating when you're feeling motivated and have a plan but weather stops play, but it is what it is. For my own brain I find doing something, no matter how small, keeps my motivation up. Be it extra carrot stretches, playing on wobble cushions or just and in hand walk. So when the snow and sheet ice hit our yard for a week we did in hand walk poles on the frozen school for a whol...
Goal Setting for 2025 - Vlog 259 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 61214 дней назад
Now this was a tricky one... if money, annual leave and time in a day were unlimited my goal would be to clamber up the FEI ranks, get selected for Team GBR and go to a Championship...unfortunately for me everything comes at a price, be it money or time. I no longer want to commit my whole free time to training for Endurance. I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, climbing, surfing and going on adven...
First 2025 pre-season training - Vlog 258 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 74421 день назад
I'm starting off with a 4x a week schedule; Monday, Wednesday, Friday and one weekend day. The first 6 week block will consist of: Monday: 45mins in-hand hill walks or in-hand pole work Wednesday: 30minute water treadmill session Friday: Longer hack (10-20km) or Schooling Weekend: Short hack (5-10km) or faster surface work I don't have many options from the yard where my horses are, we have two...
Horse make-over & letting Tissy canter up a mountain by herself! - Vlog 257 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 92228 дней назад
Our final prep before the pre-season begins is to clip ready for the harder sweatier work. If anyone has any recommendations for improving the finish of my clip, I am all ears, as I think Estrid is a bit embarrassed about looking like a zebra! Just for a bit of fun before the real training starts I wanted to take Tissy & Estrid out for a spin. I don't ordinarily ride & lead but on this occassio...
2024 Round-up - Vlog 256 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 661Месяц назад
What a year 2024 has been! A rollercoaster as usual, but what year isn't when you have horses. I've worked more hours than ever but I've also had some of the best adventure packed holidays. We got off to a wobbly start to the endurance season so didn't really get going until June, but from there out every outing has felt like a bonus and Estrid flying round her first 80km was the cherry on top....
New Endurance Tack - Custom Hiviz - Vlog 255 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 1 тыс.Месяц назад
Endurance Tack: www.pioneerendurance.com/ The social media algorithm hit me hard over the last few months as I've seen so many beautiful hiviz biothane bridles from Pioneer Endurance going up on the website and off to new homes. I then saw that the hiviz comes in white, opening up the opportunity for navy and white tack (My fave colour scheme) so I popped a winter training hiviz bridle and brea...
My Off Season Winter Routine - Vlog 254 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 756Месяц назад
In my head I break down my horsey life into three distinct phases. Pre-season winter; where there's no competitions but I'm actively training the horses and focusing on fitness. In-Season; where we're training and competing, and then Off-season winter; Where I'm riding for fun occasionally but mainly just giving the horses a break. I am firmly in our off-season phase, the horses shoes are off. ...
Somerford Park Ride with Tissy - Vlog 253 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 921Месяц назад
With weather cancelling Tissy's last opportunity to go to a pony party this year I had been looking for alternatives so she could still have a fun outing. Somerford is just over an hour drive from me and I'd heard good things about their farm ride, with hardstanding parking and plenty of groomed track I thought it would be a great option for Tissy to get out and explore somewhere new. I am so g...
Preparing my new stable - Vlog 252 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 месяца назад
Although I have had a stable the last few years to accommodate for Tissy's need for mash as a haylage replacement. I haven't had to have her in and I've had other horses on full grass livery, so it's been very flexible. This year as part of the livery changes and in an effort to preserve the fields both my horses will be stabled daily for half the day. Now I still have lots of flexibility in te...
Getting Married - Vlog 251 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 9222 месяца назад
Dan and I got married in October. It was the happiest day of Tissy's life as she feels she is now guaranteed butt scratches and extra treats for life from Dan. I was pretty pleased too. I wanted to make this video for myself, to look back on, but also as a reminder to Dan of how much he means to me and how grateful I am for all his support in absolutely everything but particularly how he has fu...
Tack Room declutter & Moving In - Vlog 250 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 7272 месяца назад
Now the tack room has had a spruce up it was time to put my stuff back in. I was determined that I would only put the essentials that were used day to day back and anything else could go back in storage or sold/donated. My storage is in a loft up a pull down ladder so it's not easy access. I'm the kind of person that if there are too many barriers in the way it get's put to the side to 'do it l...
Tack Room Makeover - Vlog 249 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 6692 месяца назад
I love a good organise, clean out and spruce up. When the livery I'm on decided to downsize and as the saddle racks in the tack room freed up one by one the tack room started to look a little sad. So those of us remaining decided it was the perfect opportunity to give it a make over. It got a lick of paint, the addition of some little windows, a new hardware layout and some bird proofing to hop...
What my Endurance season costs - Vlog 248 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.2 месяца назад
I'm a nerd and I love a good stat. I love to track training, expenditure, anything and everything really. I was curious as to how much extra competing added to the cost of my horses. I'm not taking into account the 'usual' costs such as livery, feed, Physio, Farrier, Vaccinations, Dentist etc. but just the competition specific costs. First off EGB Membership for the year cost me £77 I then spen...
Taking an Endurance horse to a pole clinic - Vlog 247 - Beth Endurance
Просмотров 9883 месяца назад
Scropton RDA are raising funds to buy a new horse for their riding centre and as such had advertised a pole work clinic with the proceeds going towards the new pony fund. I seized the opportunity to get Estrid out and about doing something different. I especially don't want her to think everytime we go in the trailer it's for long training sessions or long endurance competitions. Our goal this ...

She’s too cute ❤
Omg 😂 she ´s so impatient 😜 ❤
Estrid looks so well 😊 Where I live those off road bikes and convoys of "green lane" yobs have wrecked our hacking tracks. Great to see yours are intact.
Ah that's a shame. The green laners around us are really lovely and very respectful of horses x
That was a slick move putting your boots and waterproof trousers on! 😅 Glad the weather is picking up for you to get some riding in!
Can she not do competitions ect with hoof boots, and keep her bare foot ?
She could, but her feet don't stand up to the training or variable weather when we go up to the longer distances x
@@bethendurance even with the boots?
@MrsPuddingrules even with boots.
That little mare is such a character. Lovely seeing you out and getting on with your training together! Long may it continue, indeed!
Beautiful Arabians..my homeland and native tongue ❤😊. Well looked after horses, great to see this Mam.❤👍😊
Absolutely love that you are still finding ways to play with your ponies in inclement weather. You might want to check out Horse speak. They say there is a back up "button" at the shoulder which you can touch or just point to and the horse will back up. It did work with my horses.
From the horse's point of view ,do you really think they understand the point of in hand work. Maybe a youngster could benefit but mainly it just entertains humans . I'm certainly not being rude but honestly can't see the reasons.
I think in terms of behavior and understanding older horses who are already established don't need it but in terms of joint mobility, core stability and improving symmetry poles are still useful. There's lots of research on pole work to rehab injuries so it will have some benefit to injury prevention. But yes I get your point, there's no cardiovascular benefit and it may well be just making me feel better but that's OK x
Another top 3 of my Favorites Pole „Drills“ 1. Mountain Goat. Use the Pole Infront of her and ask her hindlegs to move to the Front legs. 2. the opposit of Mountain goat. Use the Poles before her hindlegs and ask the Front legs to Go further away to Stretch. 3. Use one Pole straight between her legs. So left and lefthindleg - Pole straight to her Body - right and right hindleg. That is super hard for them and they need to Balance it out. You are doing really good on the groundwork!
Thanks! I'll try them out! X
Pole work is fun. At least you can do that. Here in Minnesota, it has been so cold, I haven't had a chance to do anything with my horse. Today was the first day I could take him for a walk around the farm.
That is a whole different level of cold 🥶 x
@bethendurance you got that right. There are days when the temperatures wouldn't reach above 0 and it was even colder with the wind chill. Since we use Fahrenheit, one day is was -6 for the high and felt like -35. Even though my horse looks like a wooly mammoth, in these extreme temps, he had his medium weight blanket on.
r u single?
cool
I missed this one!! What a great round up of awesome moments!! Watching your channel always excites me for me and my girl's future! Come spring, I climb on for the first time... 😅 I think I'll watch your first year with Estrid again!
Oh that's so exciting! Can't wait to hear how you both get on! X
I love these every year! I plan my own racing calendar like this, so it's great to see is a good way to plan my horse's year too! I love that Tissy is still going strong for her age! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you and Estrid accomplish this year!
I love how realistic you are. I find so many RUclipsrs give us an unrealistic view of what most riders are capable of.
So excited for Tissy! Also thank you for sharing your goals and the challenges of life and hobbies. It is so hard when we have so many goals😁
Tissy looks great for a 1998 model. Mine has been retired for 18 mos now, he is just done. Too frail, and an old injury is bothering him. I fear this is his last spring, if he makes it that long. Here's to many more rides on Tissy!!!🎉
This is one of my faves of your videos! I can't believe it's time again already! 😍😍😍
What a beautiful countryside ❤ I really enjoy this type of vlog of planning and getting fit for a competition. The competition vlog makes more sense when I can see all the work achieved. The process how to get to the competition is the most interesting. Lots of work 😅 I hope you can do another vlog about each session: in hand pole work and the training on the galop which is not galloping yet. You are my favourite blogger for keeping it real ❤❤❤❤
Hi Beth! Happy 2025! What a beautiful first ride out with Estrid! Love this video & can't wait for more. All the very best for the season :)
Absolutely stunning. Those stone walls are really gorgeous! I love watching Estrid's head bobbing around as she takes everything in! She seems to soak it all up. Looking forward to following along with your plans and training for 2025!
What beautiful country side! These remind me of the trails we have here in Minnesota. Thanks for taking us along on your ride.
Such pretty country! I wish we had hacking with altitude changes like this around where I live in the states. It's just not common unless you live near national forests or property with access to trails. Wishing you the best of luck with this upcoming season!
Wow Wales is beautiful! What amazing trails you have to ride! I would want to ride them every day, no wonder you got into endurance riding 😊
My thoughts exactly!
What beautiful country side! Thanks for sharing your training plan, I'm always interested in what other do!
Good girls ❤ what stunning hacking I’m very jealous 😂 water treadmill sessions would be really interesting to watch!
What amazing hacking! X
Tissy looked like she was loving this 🫶🏼 and Estrid has come so far xx
How calm Eatrid was for clipping and washing off, and how amazing to see Tissy having the time of her life flying up the hill!!
Tissy is really a phenonmenon. Watching her trundle after you I thought that her age might have finally caught up with her - and then she cantered up that hill and jogged with you on board like an impatient 5-year-old. What an amazing horse! But I think in Estrid you might have found another super one. Defintely an adorable one. Happy new year!
Watching Tissy canter up the hill on her own was both mesmerizing and beautiful, Beth! I love that you were able to entrust her with doing that and slightly risking that she’d come back to you afterward. ❤😂 She is a one in a million pony for sure! Can’t wait for your training vlogs!
I loved every minute of this! And I had it on the island while we were making dinner, and he kept peaking to see what was going on! ❤😂 I can’t believe how amazing Tissy is! Estrid has huge horseshoes to fill, but she’s doing so great!
It still blows my mind how white Astrid has become.. Love how Happy Tissy is when she is running up that hill! I would love to know your structured fitness training schedule..
Same! I know you’ve done videos on diet, gear, training, schooling etc, but updates in future videos would be awesome!
I'm a dog groomer and I love my heiniger clippers and blades! Best by miles, I bet the cordless dog one i have would do a horse with a 10F blade, it has two batteries and loads of torque, quiet too!
Love all the gear! That bridle is gorgeous. I need to get some blinking lights. My husband bought me a running jacket in that silvery hi viz. I saw them at an overnight race a few years back, and the runners glowed like ghosts in the dimmest light! I haven't worn it yet, because I only run on trails. And I didn't ride on the roads once in 2024, because I have some terrible neighbors who think it's funny to scare us. 😠
I just got a multupack of bike ones, super handy! Not ideal qualities in a neighbour, poor you! X
So beautiful, Beth! It's always so motivating to get new tack! (I also love getting new grooming tools! hehehe!) I, too, am getting so excited to get my horses in shape for this riding season!
It's nice to be looking forward to something isn't it ☺️ x
This was a great vlog, went back and watched it.. What material was that blanket again? I know you use it on all your ponies during endurance rides as well..
It's a thermatex rug x
@@bethendurance Thank you!
Hope we can meet for some adventures in 2025!🎉❤
Yes 🙌🥰
I’m moving to the UK in the next year or so with my partner and having been looking how to continue my Endurance racing journey. This was totally helpful for me to know what to prepare for! Thank you!!
Happy New Year and all the best in 2025
Love your content, as you're such a realistic equestrian. Showing the highs and lows of horses. You've made so much progress with Estrid this year, here's to a successful 2025 🎉 Hopefully I'll see you out there eventually, as my young mare will be backed and start to experience the outside world. X
Loved watching this! it might have started out rocky but what a year! You are such an inspiration and your hard work pays off! So excited to watch 2025😃
I thoroughly enjoyed having this look back at all of your adventures for the year! Well done. Love your channel 🎉❤
Well done and hopefully onwards and upwards next year 😊😊 Lucky you going to Wales. I miss my childhood home near Builth Wells. Happy new year to all of you ❤
What a great video! And what a great year! So looking forward to your adventures in 2025!!
Loved this video, thank you for sharing your journey with both Tissy and Estrid, looking forward to 2025, see you then!!!
If someone catches you two, in pitch dark, with LED headlights, we will be able to see the glow over here in Canada! Well dressed, Beth! I am going to see if i cant get one of those quarter rugs. I'm sure I can find a way for it to work with a western saddle, lol
You definitely can get ones that are just square at the back that would fit a western! X
Er excuse you mum poor Tissy worked hard on her new look the lesser known swamp arab. 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Question about the biothane bridles. The big thing with trad leather bridles these days is anatomical headpieces to give pressure relief behind the ears but I haven't seen the equivalent in biothane. Would be interested in your thoughts? Love the videos!
I've never had an issue myself, but you can get poll pads to go with them. You can't custom shape biothane pieces like leather though so not as versatile in terms of shape x
