Make more water storage. Beavers drink 2 units each per day. If you have 25 beavers and a 10 day drought you want to have 500 water stored at a minumum!
15:55, that only happens if you don't have your forester active while the beavers are logging. Keep it active and after the 1st rounding of planting the timings will realign as the beavers log and the forester immediately replaces. I ALWAYS go all in on oak so I know from experience it's never a problem.
@@wobblysauce I still find it better to just go all in on oak from the start, the only exception is when I don't have enough time to wait on those 30 days. Rare that I find a map lile that
I’d build a second adjustable dam near the water source so that most of the bad water will drain off the edge of the map. Also you can raise them to hold the water in during a drought
@@ZeddTheBuilder I wish I could play! I don’t have a PC, but I want to use the shell of my old one from 2003 to make a new one soon! I’ve been looking for people playing this game since it’s on my list of games I’d download immediately =] Zeepkist is also on that list! I really enjoyed the first three videos! I’m looking forward to the whole series, I like your style man!
Good callout! I eventually do add a second staircase through the non-irrigated land in a later video. I know I'm also not as optimal as I could be with my road placements!
Thanks! I've been intentionally going in blind to the recent Update 5 changes so I'd be surprised. I've heard the badtide mentioned, but don't know what to expect yet.
I like this approach for early game where I can get some extra supply of water for cheap. However, I really hate lowering the water height - every time the water drops height I lose the opportunity to flood more of the map downstream. As this play through progresses I might flood more of the valley.
It's an odd quirk of the game. Water will flow off the map anytime the water gets to the edge _except_ when above a water source. Empty space above water sources count as walls. My guess is it is simulating the river off the map flooding.

And you can offset with manual planting to help in the early days before you get fully settled.
@@wobblysauce Yeah I hate manual in these sort of situations, too tedious
Even with the plots planting half and then as the others are about 50% plant the rest, it is only 15 days per wave of wood early on.

Good idea! This is my first play through in Update 5 - looking forward to seeing the new Bad Tide.

I've actually tried this too! It doesn't work sadly.... Maybe with update 6 things will be different
I think it is good practice to plant as many oaks as possible as soon as possible because they give the most logs for the least amount of time.
I like the desire for more going on in your head. Thanks for the video.
8:00 You could have put the stairs further away from the river, on the non-irrigated land, closer to your town center.

Make more water storage otherwise your people die😅
I love how you always start with a recap, what is your plan for the badtide?

@@ZeddTheBuilder I see, I'm looking forward to your next playthrough 😊
@@ZeddTheBuilderyou do normal game mode, so you have first 3 droughts and from there on is it 40% chanse for a badtide every cycle
See, I go the other way and I build up levees along the bank so I can hold more water in the valley. I'm starting to think your way is better.

@@ZeddTheBuilder I used your approach and it worked really well while the levees were slowly being built 😍
Is the water not falling out of the map from the water sources after all there's no wall that would stop it from going out that way

@ZeddTheBuilder Oh wow thats so good to know. I always assumed it would run off and never tried to dam like that. Thanks 😊
