- video showing how to stop the persistant electrical clicking noise from the folding wing mirror motor.
remove fuse 10 (7.5a) to first stop noise so can drive with mirrors out.
then dismantle wing mirror casing to remove black and white wires to motor to disable it but still have the mirror angle adjuster working. - Спорт
My wife rang me about this awful noise in the 05 Honda Jazz. Got the car home , searched on RUclips and followed the steps of removal, disconnect and refit. Thank you for posting!
I hope your wife made you a cup of tea whilst you were doing it ?!
You're a star, cheers mate - just taken the fuse out temporarily until I get a chance to disconnect the wiring in the mirror. Think someone else has said the fuse also controls fan blower, so won't work until fuse is replaced.
Well done mate, no annoying music when I am trying to learn and very down to earth, good old British.
Same here. Did exactly the same. I believe i broke the cogs inside by folding the mirror in manually, forgetting that it had motor folding. Thanks for the vid, now i can drive without the noise and automatic mirror folding. Perfect.
Thank you for the video. my wife got told you got a remove the door panel to unplug in there, tried that, nothing worked not even the indicator so wouldn't pass warent of fitness and found your video and pulled the plug out with the plyers and silence thank you
Brilliant , many thanks for going to the trouble of doing the video. The last part of getting the connector out was the hardest, but using pliers whilst pushing the black blade inwards worked eventually. I would suggest that the hole is filled in or covered, I used some putty.
thanks for the positive comments. i posted the video to help.anyone else and hopefully make it easier for you..life's hard enough as it is.
the jazz is one of the most relaible cars out there so dont hate it for a small misdemeanour..
Perfect video.. Not sure what finally worked with the connector , it could be pushing the black blade in, or pulling it with pliers, or pushing around in the hole with a small screwdriver trying to disclodge a clip on the socket..
... If anybody explores the innards of the drive unit & determines if the fault is fixable ( microswitch or some such), please let us know.
Thanks a lot mate, it worked for me exactly by following the steps in the video. The bottom screw however is a tough bit. It saved me a good amount of money.👍
I had to push the wing mirror out folded towards the front of car to reveal full access to the screw. It took me a while to work out how to get to it.
Bloody legend! Fixed the same problem in my Airwave 2009! Saved me $200!
Thanks a lot! had the same noise on the left side mirror for a while i just done it using the steps on the video.
Thank you! You have saved me £75 getting a replacement from ebay. I don't really use the powered stuff and so disconnection is the solution.
5 minute job to fix, thanks for showing how so clearly!
Amazing! Worked like a charm, and just the level of fix I can be bothered with! Thank you very much.
Just wanted to add to the plethora of comments saying THANK YOU! Had the exact same issue and your video helped immensely.
I just experienced same issue. But the black white wires are hard wired in. I simply cut the white wire and put a bit of tape over it. All good! Thanks.
Top man putting this on, my father-in-law’s 2008 Honda Jazz was making a weird whining sound when he was driving and it was from the wing mirror, great tip on removing the mirror! removed the black and white cable connector and alls good, now it doesn’t retract that mirror which he didn’t use anyway so no problem, thank you for doing this video
thanks. glad it helped.. even though it doesnt fold hopefully the electric adjust still works
Yes the mirror electrics still work thanks
Great information, I had no clicking but the motor ran all the time. I found the Honda handbook useless regarding the fuse involved. Thanks.
Thanks, I had trouble getting the grommet off an even more trouble getting the black & wire clip out. But got there in the end.
Thanks for uploading this really specific niche problem that only a handful of people will appreciate :)
I appreciated it very much when the exact same issue happened to me!!
Thanks for appreciating the video..I thought it must happen to some others jazzs...they made so many of them.
Thanks buddy. Perfect solution for a 15 year old car. Yeah hardest part was getting the plug out. Like you mentioned using small pliers was the trick.
you da man! 2 years after, you are still helping :) thanks thanks
thank you for adding this video, i found the fuse right away with your description and fixed the mirror. very helpful
Legit had this same problem this morning, this video is so helpful, cheers
Great easy fix, welldone, good for keeping indicator and mirror adjustment working if you need to eliminate the pesky retracting motor.😊
I spoke to honda about it.
They wanted 105 pounds an hour to get someone to look at it!!!
I didn't ask how much the part was as they said it's sold as a whole mirror unit because it's too technical for people to replace the parts inside.
I then told him I had taken it all apart and stopped the problem.
I asked the parts, £135 plus VAT, then you need to get it painted, not cheap !!!
Thanks for the video just unplugged the same mirror same side & year
Superb - works a treat, many thanks fella
Absolutely perfect. Exact problem I have and that has fixed it. I will share to honda jazz owners UK on facebook if OK
yeh please share
amazing mate! just got that sorted now! cheers!
Such a specific issue with a specific model of car and I really didn't expect to find anything, but here we are!
Thank you for this video, absolutely perfect, will go try this now.
Okay, how to get that release clip out? Edit: hold the wire with pliers and pull as you push the black clip inwards towards the centre.
Awesome, all fixed! Fantastic information and video, thank you very much.
Thanks man, the annoying clicking noise has gone.
Very helpful as got the same problem.
Thank you very much, it was resolved in minutes..
thanks mate. saviour !
Thanks so much. I tried all your steps and the noise is gone 😀
Hi, all good except the final step of removing the black/White cable. Mine went into the motor unit with no release lug. So I just clipped the wire. At least the clicking/buzzing has stopped. I never did fold away the mirror so no loss!
Thank you work the first try.
Thanks ,solved the problem.🇮🇪👍
Thanks mate, this helped me a lot today :-)
Hi, my Honda now is having the same problem, could you let me know if the side indicator still works after it disconnected. Many thanks.
@@yz1531 Yep, side indicator and mirror adjustment still works, only the retracting motor gets disconnected
Thanks very much. Went to a garage to disconnect it, but the guy said the indicator wouldn’t work after it’s disconnected. So I didn’t let him do it.
Thanks man, super helpful!
glad it helped..its why I took the time to do the video
Is it possible to remove the back cover of the mirror
I cant get the wire out, any advice? The casing on my mirror is broken so I have access to the back easily but can not get the wire out
there is a small clip that holds the wiring plug in..i think i just pulled my wire out then saw the little tab that needs to be pushed to release the plug
if you pull the plug with the black and white wire as mentioned in the video even if it breaks the plug it won't really matter unless you intend to mend the wing mirror.
Done it! Thanks so much. Pesky thing!
Does anyone know if the side indicator still works after it’s disconnected? My car is having the same issue 🙁
Hi. My indicators still work OK after this mirror clicking fix
@@ngm8x thanks for the reply and the video. I went to a garage and asked a guy to disconnect the wire, but he said the indicator wouldn’t work after the wire being disconnected, the car wouldn’t pass MOT without the indicator. So I decided to try it myself, but couldn’t pull the black and white wire out, couldn’t see a little tab.
Super thanks for the video!!! My daughter reversed her 2005 Honda jazz out the garage with the mirrors in the open position!! And the mirror folding mechanism on the left broke inside!! I tried to just get the post for the mirror but Honda said they only sell the whole mirror unit!! At a ridiculous price!! A scrapped complete mirror was just as expensive!!! So I put in a quick set putty and removed the wire that controls the left hand side closing mechanism and it works like a charm!! The drivers side still closes as normal!! With both mirror adjustments still operable!!
@@yz1531 did you get the wire out eventually ? could cut one on the wires and tape it up ?
@@ngm8x, yes, I did eventually. It was the rubber thing that holds the wire I didn’t see. Once the rubber thing was pulled out, the wire came out as well. Thanks so much for your video, it has saved me a couple of hundreds pounds 👍🏻
