I was 3 seconds slower back in my day, and I was a badass where I grew up. Suddenly feel like I had lead in my shoes. Get some 400m strength in there and this kid is going to wreck some people internationally.
I actually met the kid before he transferred to IMG, he was apart of the GHSA state track meet. Crazy I saw him catch someone 20 meters in front of him in a 4 by 1. He’s the future of US sprinting.
For this distance, there's a significant difference between indoor times and outdoor times. Times for the indoor 300 M also vary, depending on the size of the track and the number of turns for a 300 race. (It could be as few as 1 turn and no banked curves (Univ or Arkansas, for example), or as many as 3 turns and really banked curves (like the old Sunkist track they used to have at the L.A. Coliseum.)
I ran it almost exclusively on a 160m flat track back in the 90s. Unsurprisingly I always ran my best times in the few races done on a 200m track. These banked tracks - did they exist 25 yrs ago? I never saw one until the last decade.
@@likkiii07 ...But in high school? Where? 300m is not an outdoor event in California high schools. Anyway, 300m seems like a useless event. Like, the fast folks cannot spread themselves over to the 300m during a meet. So, who is really competing in that race?
@@turnermerritt7960 well, he was running high level times the moment he started running track. Keep in mind he’s a junior. He ran a 10.19 (win aided) 100m his FRESHMAN YEAR. I saw that meet on milesplit, no one said anything about it it wasn’t anywhere on milesplit or anything. I knew he’d start getting noticed eventually
The enthusiasm & mutual respect is great to see - all the best to them at the next level.

IMG Academy has some of the best high school athletes out there. Probably the best high school in the nation for athletics.

@@EvilMonkey7818 Did you run NCAA Division 1? The Univ of Arkansas had a really fast, 200 meter, banked indoor track in the 90's, for example.
300m is an outdoor event?
@@jakemccoy yes there is outdoor 300m and the current WR holder is Wayde

This kid just started running track his 8th grade year.. talk about talent
That’s pretty normal, maybe most start in 7th but the year from 7th to 8th is pretty inconsequential
What is "ralent"??
@@lackzoom I thought he wrote "raw talent" before I saw your comment, so I assume that's what it means...

Back in high school my pb was a high 38...low 39......what's a good work out for a 300....to get faster...do you run it all out?
3x300m with 10 to 15 min recovery and you can do some long speed like 4x150 or 4x200
Its looks effortless for him...
He looked tight at the end for 300m.
I would have lapped them easy if I was in this race
Cap 😹
11.8 sec of run he past the line ;) dsf ??
good race
0:42 DQ 😂🤣😭
