      Hailu Barrow You’re not lying at all...I ran a couple meets in HS but the coach didn’t teach me about technique like my coach now I walked on to the team because my friend who has the 47th best time this year in the 60 world wide asked me to she’s been doing it for awhile...I ran a laser 6.88 60m and I wasn’t confident about the time the coach whose been at ECU since 72 (He loves to brag about that lol but hey he has a reason) said I may have what it takes....I only wanted to get faster for football now I find myself wanting to get faster to be amongst the best I’ve been binge watching track videos like it’s my profession you’re not lying it’s much different and it provides at different lesson than Football so I’ll keep you updated ✊🏽

    I'm a noob so explain something to me. What's the difference between me running for 40-60 minutes at a decent pace like for about 9-12km and these guys running these fast times but only doing about 1.5km in total. Even with rests at let's say about every 3 minutes per set, they're running for maybe a max of 40 minutes. I mean, what are the differences in what I'm running and how they're running and what should I be doing to try and run as fast as them?

    • @omgiheartpie
      @omgiheartpie 3 года назад +2

      There's a difference between being fast at the sprints, and being fast at long distance. The 40-60 minute runs you're doing are great for getting in shape for longer distance races like the 1500m and above (up to the marathon), but they are not what sprinters do to become fast at the 100m-400m distance. Sprinters in general focus on short reps, very high intensity, and long rest.
      In this video, these guys are working on speed endurance, and sessions that target speed endurance are done nearer to when you have a race coming up and you want to sharpen up. Weeks before this these guys were probably training their top speed (sessions of flying sprints of 30-50 meters in distance), general endurance (100-300m reps at 75 percent of their max) and their acceleration (20-60m runs from a standing start). This is your bread and butter schedule for a sprinter; distance runs are at most 20 minutes and done once a week, unless you're a 400m runner and do a bit of a llonger run each week as this distance has a bigger aerobic component than the 100/200. Lots of resources online about sprint training, take a look: it's much different than distance runs lol

      @sadikfillali8935 Год назад

      @@omgiheartpie Very good explanation. I want to ask something, I see that those sprinters are very muscular and ripped, is it due to this type of training that you mentionned in your comment or because they are hitting the gym to lift weight in order to get bigger and muscular?
