thank you very much for the video! Tell me, why do you add a preservative? and what kind of preservative is needed? I made peg-40 with fragrance, then added it to the water, but after a while the liquid turned from clear to dark red. I don't speak English, I write through a translator.
Hi there, thank you for watching! Because this formula has water added it needs a preservative to prevent bacteria growth. For more details on what to use and how you can grab the formula at the link in the Description box. I will try and link it here as well. Hope that helps. astarieapothecary.com/collections/formulas/products/diy-room-body-linen-spray-formula-digital-download
Hi! Thanks for watching! Glycerin is sometimes added to be nice feeling in the skin, but it doesn’t solubilizer the fragrance oil into the water. Hydrogenated Castor oil is a solubilizer, meaning it allows that oil to mix into the water and remain stable and it also in most cases creates a clear product. You definitely don’t want oil not mixed in both for safety (concentrated fragrance on the skin or surfaces isn’t safe) and aesthetics (no one wants an oil slick on their fabrics or skin.) I hope that helps.
Hi there thanks for watching. You could absolutely use the PEG 40 and not use perfumers alcohol. You may have to adjust your PEG 40 percentages to get it to go Clear you would have to test it and also just be advised that the fragrance will not last as long if you don’t use the perfumers alcohol, I hope that helps
Thank you so much! These are water soluble dyes. You could possibly use oil soluble lakes as well, but you would need to mix them with your fragrance oil first to solubilize them
I didn’t realize I didn’t respond to the second part of your question. The water helps the product go further and he’s less drying on the skin than a traditional perfume. As this is more of a mist than a perfume we add it to dilute it some. A perfume would be a different formulation. With no water. Thanks for watching!
@@menriquez1350 Hi! You can use this formula to create that exact thing. It’s what I sell in my shop! Just leave out the fragrance percentage and then when you are ready to use it add it then.
Great Video. Can you please tell me where you find your product bags? I want to gift some family and friends with their favorite creamy body wash for the holidays.
@@astarieapothecary Thank you! And thank you for the sale. I grabbed the room and body spray and the foaming soap. I wish I had known you had that formulation before paying $160 for the base 😕.

What percentage of fragrance, PEG-40 and preservative should be used?

Thanks for the video. What’s the difference between the hydrogenated castor oil and vegetable glycerin. I have seen some videos use glycerin

Hi, love your video. Can I make this without the alcohol and add preservative? Will it still go clear using the PEG 40?

Love the video what dyes are you using for coloring and if you are using perfumers alcohol whats the purpose of using water

I’m looking for a formula to create a gallon of base to have on hand. Like the bases you can buy.

Hi! Thank you. Which product bags are you referring to?
@@astarieapothecary Good Morning,
They are the pouchlike bags you show on your website that look like hospital saline bags.
@@raawcreations5357 oh ok yes I actually get mine from Amazon. They are drink pouches.

@@raawcreations5357 Aww, thank you!! That’s ok we’ve all done it to learn.
With the peg 40, are you using 1:1 ratio peg 40/FO?
Hi! It’s a particular percentage not a ratio.
@@astarieapothecary ok thank you
@@tammalaboyd3299 you’re welcome! I found using percentages work better for me than ratios especially when needing to add preservatives.
@@astarieapothecary absolutely. I am switching over to peg 40 from poly 80 and just needed guidance if i could use it interchangeably.
@@tammalaboyd3299 gotcha!! Definitely check out the formula linked in the video. There’s a lot of information in that very thing.
Do you have something more for a parfum?
Hi! Thanks for watching. I can def get something like that posted soon.
Hi! Where do you get your perfumers alcohol?
Hi! I get it from a couple places but usually Vetiver Aromatics
