i bought the 8'6 as my first board after my first 2 surfing lessons, i can't be more happy with this board as a beginner, after 20+ sessions i can catch almost any size wave and can go up and down on the wave face, board is very fast and effortless when paddling, very stable and not sluggish when popping up and riding, plan to keep it long time even after if i upgrade to ride short boards.
My daughter had a Wavestorm 8’, which she outgrew skill-wise. Her only problem with the Wavestorm is that it is a bit slow when paddling. I ordered her a 7’6” Torq Funboard. Think she’ll have more success with that?
@@masterjm5161 You could probably say that about any board. If you’re a race car driver, you could say that about any car. A Wavestorm will inhibit progression if you don’t move to something more mobile.
There is mostly wind slop at my home break. So, I rely on fat, wide, flat rocker surfboards. My 8’ board, which is considered a mid-sized here, is the normal go to. I believe this board to be good for beginners and all levels who have to ride sluggish wind slop. See the short video I put together....it is the green board starting at 1:20. ruclips.net/video/bt0FIun1EaI/видео.html

Ohh I haven’t tried but hopefully should give some more flexibility for turning etc. 😌 good luck to them!
you can't outgrow it skill wise, pro's like job are still riding it sometimes.

@@FelixPfaltermann you’re right, I actually forgot how buoyant the wave storm is
