A Magical Edinburgh Loch & Garden - Duddingston Loch & Dr Neil's Garden, Edinburgh, Scotland

- Hope you enjoy this wee video of one of my favourite places in Edinburgh - Duddingston Loch Nature Reserve and the beautiful Dr Neil's Garden. I've also included the wonderful garden next door, called 'Jock Tamson's Gairden', which is a wonderful community garden designed to help people improve their health & wellbeing, alleviate social isolation & loneliness. It's got a lovely feel and is really special.
Dr Neil's Garden is a very lovely place to visit all throughout the year. It's located on the banks of lovely Duddingston Loch, which has been a bird sanctuary since 1925. The village itself has been settled since the 12th Century and was once an important centre for weaving. Don't forget to visit Duddingston Kirk next door and have a bite to eat at the historic Sheep Heid Inn in the village.
Late Bronze Age artefacts were found in Duddingston Loch in 1778, including swords & spears which were dredged up from the bottom of the Loch - who knows what else may still be down there!
Dr Neil's lovely garden was founded by Drs. Andrew and Nancy Neil and it's a wonderfully peaceful & spiritual place where you can sit awhile, reflect and enjoy all the beautiful sights & sounds of nature around you. There's a cafe which is open in the Spring & Summer - check the website for details.

Great memories of climbing Arthur’s Seat , the smell of gorse in the air and the sights of the city and Duddingston loch. Had no idea these beautiful gardens existed . The afternoon light was wonderful. Will try and visit when I’m up there in March . ❤

Thanks Mara, it's such an incredible place and although I'm not religious I do always feel a great sense of peace and spirituality when I'm there. Great to see ya doin what do david great capture of that majestic animal the Swan such beauty it is shame with us humans can destroy each other and animals and its animals that suffer on what we are taken away it's great to see animals doin what they love doing the great survivors they are .. The roses weren't planted - I just thought they looked incredibly beautiful :-) We do have snowdrops coming up though which is always a lovely sign that Spring isn't far away.
