Costa is 10 years older, he is at the end of career, seems to have no motivation. Topuria got everything, there is a world of difference.

He is calling Connor for exposure, it's pretty obvious. However, he is ready to defend his title against new challengers.
Yair, Max or Ortega are out of question. This time only Movsar and Rematch makes the most sense. But the problem is that Movsar has 0 finish out of his 8 fights and Volk will need at least 6 month if not more to recover from this. Therefore, in the meantime, he can fight Connor for exposure and money. He is gonna be the next big thing, superstart of ufc soon if he fights Connor in Spain.

I gave Volkanovski zero chance against Topuria, but damn. I didn't expect it to end so soon and with a ice cold knockout to boot. Well, that settles it. The new era of champions has arrived.
Dude, every time the media start saying stuff like "this champ is the GOAT of x division" it always goes sideways. Same shit happened when they started comparing Izzy to Anderson and Kamaru to GSP. Just goes to show how hard it is to stay at the top for as long as some of the older champs have (Aldo, GSP, Anderson, etc.). Recency bias is a very real thing and invincibility is just an illusion. Every dominant champ's reign comes to an end eventually. I'm still in a bit of disbelief at how quick and abruptly that one ended.
Alexander Volkanovski's resume is way better than Jose Aldo's though.

Anyone who had watched Ilia should have seen his abilities and knew he had a great chance of doing this. He has shown diversity, a good chin and sound defense, as well as vicious ko power. He has shown the ability to adapt and make adjustments in fights and can finish anyone at anytime in the blink of an eye.
Big fan of him, if you saw his earlier UFC fights you know what he’s capable of. But Volk is my guy, was rooting for him 100% and I was so afraid this would happen. People talk about Topuria’s power, but that’s not the main thing, it’s the way he cuts off the octagon and traps you by the cage, the he goes for the KO. Damn, honestly didn’t think he’d do Volk like that…😮
