  • This is the first start of the 8.0 HP Briggs & Stratton since June 2008. It almost wouldn't start, but eventually it got going.

The old Flo-Jet carbs flood really easy. On ours, it's on pull on full choke, and then one pull no choke. Starts on that second pull every time.

My LR4400 starts fine but doesn't produce electricity, I overloaded it cutting a piece of plywood that bound up. pretty sure it's the voltage regulator but it seems no one makes parts for this model any longer :-(

I have the same but in a Homelite setup. My carb slowly leaks when it is not running if I do not turn off the gas. I have replaced the float needle and seat and even the float. The float level is correct as well. I am baffled. It runs well but I need to keep it about half choked to keep it from surging fast and slow. Any ideas?

Emulsion tube is leaking internally. Tighten it up with a screwdriver.

Hi, I just bought my house and i found this generator in the garage. i've got a few questions i hope you can answer? First once its on, how do you turn it off lol? I dont see how? second where and how do i change the oil? i dont see a dip stick to check it or fill it? Lastly it needs a air filter and spark plug, where could i buy those at locally? thank you so much for your time.

To turn it off there's a shorting strap above the spark plug to push down. If it's missing put a new one on.
To change the oil there is a plug on the side of the base of the engine to remove. Fill it through the angled port with the plastic cap near the drain plug. There is no dip stick. Fill it to the top of the fill hole.
Go to your local power equipment dealer for parts or order on line from one of many small engine parts suppliers.

Try and start our 1999 Colman 5500 watt generator. It's got a 10 HP Briggs flat head on it. And it's a bitch to start. About 3X harder then this one if you don't prime it. And it's only been used once lol but we start it occasionally.
