It’s a good time to get some storage. I ordered myself an 8TB OEM surveillance hard drive and going to use it as a central backup. The reason to choose an OEM surveillance drive is: 1, it’s cheaper to buy from a surveillance company than directly from Seagate/WD, and the surveillance company provides the same warranty. 2, It’s CRM, not a terrible SMR drive, like some other consumer/low-end NAS hard drives. Previous my regular archived data and video projections were backed up separately on several portable hard drives, and I’m adding another backup drive for all of them. I’m going to get another one next year as a secondary central backup drive, and phase out some of the portable ones. I don’t use NAS or RAID, I only do manual backups and cold storage, I see RAID and NAS as more like threats rather than safety measures, because if the power supply or the device itself blows up, chances are, there goes all my data.
HI Craig - Great information!!! Do you think the Magedok would work well with the Mac Mini for a portable monitor? I need one to bring in my camper. I usually use a studio monitor. ThanKs! Definately buying some of these items! Merry Christmas!
@@craigneidel Ya know, I'm not really sure, it looked like the one you showed here. But I had just bought my iMac, and this thing just started smoking, and I got it TF outta of my machine as quick as possible.
For what device I guess? I have so many I have not had to buy many but maybe the Anker one I have bought and liked. I just collect them with all the devices so rarely buy them.
Orico has been making external drive cases for quite a while. I'm using the NVME cases for my M4 mini's external storage and Time Machine, and I have a 3.5" platter drive in another of their cases. I've haven't had any problems with them.
It looks like I have to get another lap top. The only Mac mini they have is the base with 256 storage. Same with the iMac. Could the base m4 MacBook Pro 16 gigs ram 512 storage last for 7-9 years if you just use it for writing and web surfing, and just use apps like pages, numbers, notes, reminders? No video ending or other demanding tasks, and keeping the A.I. turned off?
Maybe that spike in price for the football game unit, is due to anticipated new pricing based on the landed costs that include the new Trump trade tariffs for imported goods? Probably good to load up on imported items that you feel you need before those Trump proposed trade tariffs do take effect.
Mini Dock What a cool gadget!! yep!!! lol
6:09 like the mac mini idea for the slin

Not really but I do like Christmas 🎄
Oh.. really? Santa, I really want a m4 Mac mini!
Hey Craig, I had one of those Satechi hubs. Never did work with my iMac, and started smoking. I'd avoid those.
Which one. It appears they sold a ton with pretty good reviews.

Yes but they are fairly new to SSDs. They are working good but we don't have long term tests yet.

That's a long time for any laptop but I do think of that's all your doing it could last.
Great finds!❤
Thank you.
Hey Craig! Thank you very much! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas.
@@craigneidel Thanks Craig!
Costco has an Acer 16” portable monitor right now for $79. Good quality.
That's a good deal too
I hope it's Mac Mini.
