the best part about buying silver or gold is that you scratch the itch to buy something with some of your savings, and yet you are still saving.

I like that, but it somehow doesn't feel right. I don't want to get too attached to it, which i have been lately, spending a lot on high premiums trying to collect all the different series out there like from RCM and the EC8. I know nothing about investing and have nothing else on my portfolio.. i almost feel like i am too ignorant about finances to be in the silver stacking game. Oh well, it is fun, and its the only way ive been able to 'save' money.

True, you should never put ALL your eggs in one basket. Though the 200 ounce thing, can't say I agree. I think most anyone who works a decent job or is self employed, can afford 2 ounces a week of silver. That's about 100 ounces a year. 2 ounces is less than the cost of a tank of gas, eating out at a nice restaurant, etc. This cost is basically what many people spend every week on Starbucks.
Yes, it's important to have balance in your investments, but I don't have much faith in the fiat currency. We are far from seeing the end of inflation, market crashes, and a looming financial crisis. Something you can hold in your hand that has UNIVERSAL value, is worth infinitely more than any stock or crypto. So IMO, the more of it the better. The goal SHOULD be to invest and save every cent you can.

I’ve been stacking aggressively for the last 3 months of last year but have slowed down since. Also, i have to pay taxes for online PM purchases since i live in NJ. Double Ouch!! And if i want to pay by credit card-that’s a sure fire way to forever buy high & sell low. LOL.

My online broker doesn't charge me sale tax (9.5%) like online dealers do.....why I quit dealing with them. Broker charges me 1% over premiums for shipping/handling, and their premiums over spot are lower than anyone I've found.
As for a 'massive' upside movement to break even...nope....all it takes is time. You are looking for a sudden pop in metals.....might happen, but don't count on it. This is an area for keeping up with the destruction rate of the currency.
20 years ago, I was buying 1oz rounds for under 5 bucks. Today, my broker get 25 bucks for them. 20 year from now, I fully expect them to be well over 100 bucks each.
15 years ago, I bought $1,000 face bags of junk silver, average around $4,000/bag. Today, those bags are $20,000......and in another 15 years, I suspect will be close to $100,000.

Couple of thoughts. Silver and gold are money- they aren't an investment and they aren't insurance. They are money and have been for thousands of years. Also, PMs aren't going to appreciate- your currency is going to depreciate.
Conventional wisdom says diversify. Why on earth would someone with a brain apply conventional wisdom to unconventional times?? Someone not so long ago interviewed Jim Rogers about investing. The interviewer asked Jim about diversifying investments. Jim responded with, "find 1 thing that you know and understand well and go all in." That's what I did 10 years ago and I do not regret it the slightest, even though it hasn't really moved.

Since my primary concern is the potential need for a temporary replacement for paper or electronic payment, I'm focusing on silver eagles. They are the most recognized silver coin in the US and therefore most likely to be accepted as a form of payment. With an accurate scale and calipers, a person can be reasonably assured of the fact that it is pure and genuine silver. Right now I'm still stacking 1 oz eagles but I'll probably move on to 1/2 oz eagles as well so i have a smaller denomination for trade.
If someone wants to buy/barter with me and they try giving me junk silver or some unknown silver rounds, it's going to be harder to know for sure that I'm not being scammed. If they offer a silver eagle, I can check it against the known attributes of diameter and weight for a little assurance.

I think that ASEs only come in 1-oz. weights, so if you want 1/2 oz. or 1/4 oz. weights you will have to buy silver rounds for that.
US 90% silver coins are also a US Mint product and should be just as easy to use as ASEs and come in dimes, quarters, halves,
and whole dollars. If we get to the point where we are using silver coins as money again, people will get educated pretty fast
on which coins are real silver and how much silver they contain. Those of us living in northern tier states also recognize the
Canadian silver Maple coins, so collecting them can be good too. They usually cost about 50c less each than ASEs.

Bars and billion rounds but I also love that constitutional and have quite the pile. The way I looked at it is I will never get that premium back for an eagle so I'd rather have a melts the same billion round. As the videos from some people a couple months ago showed most shops offer only $2 in that area over spot to buy back an eagle. What a rip-off those have been. Shoot I even started picking up 2021 maple leafs and of last summer cause they were only $1 more than a billion round at my shop. Better security and that maple leaf side is pretty cool. That's the most over spot I've paid for any gold or silver in last 7 years. I want weight

And? Fundamentals point to 1:1 GSR when you take above ground reserves. You can replace gold with silver but you can not replace silver with gold. Consider yourself privileged you can buy silver at all.

Lead and brass a great investment as well, properly stored in spam cans

I stack Silver but yeah the majority of my metal stacking is Brass, Lead and Copper. It's always a good investment if bought at good prices and will certainly always be used.

The reason I hold gold and silver is a hedge against a depression or financial collapse. Hopefully I will never need it.

I treat it like a savings account. I'm a pay day buyer at least 10 oz at a time lately. Currently have $5k in silver and $5k in cash in a fire safe.... No gold yet.. On the cusp but I just feel better with 10oz of silver than a 1/10 oz of gold for some reason.

Holding silver does feel more substantial than a small piece of gold. I would hold off on the 1/10 oz gold to save up for at least a quarter oz piece. This will save you premiums. It does sounds like you have a good savings plan worked out! Thanks so much for watching.

I agree.... 100 ounces to sell if you need or when it balloons in price. The other 100 to sit on......

Exactly, stacking is the ultimate insurance policy, and like all insurance it should be a policy you never want to cash in on! Everyone needs some basic insurance to help your loved ones in a worst case scenario, then use hard assets like precious metals to lock in thier long term comfort, remember insurance companies are in business to make money! The value of precious metals will always rise with time, and the proof to me is, we don't carry them in our pockets any more even though we could!

I treat gold and silver as a long term savings account, it’s far safer than money in the bank.
I keep enough cash in the bank to run our budget.
I hold COH to cover six months.
Gold and Silver are money and can be convertible to whatever represents cash in the moment.
I will continue to stack and for me what I don’t need or use will be handed down to our prodigy.
It’s insurance and helps one sleep at night.

I CAN NOT save cash ... so because I know my weakness - I take my cash and I would buy PM - therefore not blowing my money and having nothing to show . . . I thought I was the only one . . Glad to know there MAY be 1 person out there that understands

Everyone's strategy is different but I would say the ounces should be equivalent to equal at least 3 months net income at spot price.

@@NapoleonicStacking Just subscribed to your channel. I would like to see a video of the top ten silver coins to stack for 2022. I've been stacking and collecting since May 2020 and up to 450oz. Would have had a lot more if I stacked more weight and collected less. But oh well it's a fun way to save.
