I’ve watched hundreds of RUclips restorations and tool reviews over the past 2 years. The one conclusion I’ve come to is, you’re one of the most original content you-tubers that I’ve had the pleasure of watching. What I mean is, every vid is different than the next. Originality and relevance is key and you’ve got those components figured out! Great job and as always, another great restoration!!!
Hello MTR!!!!!! WOW! I really appreciate that! After watching your videos I feel you and I have the ability to like a tool regardless of make or origin... Not everyone can do that... One example for me is I had a set of square handles screwdrivers that were Snap-On and everyone was like "Wow- Snap-On" yet they were very uncomfortable to use! Then I had another set of Asian made screwdrivers that were better in every single way and because they were generic they weren't well received by others... I think there are too many people who are too busy liking what other people like instead of what they like... The best part of getting older is not worrying about what others think and accepting who we are and what we like! You always struck me as someone who could see thru the smoke screen! =) Thanks so much!!!!!!!
I think it would be cool to fill in the handle cavities with a clear epoxy. That way you could still see the candy caller and the handle would become more comfortable. Great job
"Apparently I've done a few projects using that color." YOU THINK? LOL! I'm a product of high school in the early to mid 60's...candy apple red was what we all wanted our cars to be painted! Still love it. Thanks, John.
Looks super cool to me. Anyone who’s wailing about it needs to get out to a flea market and see how many literal tons of old screwdrivers are out there.
I like the yellow - kinda pays homage to all those yellow plastic handle screwdrivers and has a "wood" tone as well. Awesome looking screwdriver, and the restoration came up fantastic. but definitely for looking at and not using !!
Beautiful job. I think the yellow was a good choice. Now you have a beautifully restored, nicely painted screwdriver that is still uncomfortable to hold! We had some of those around the house, they were horrible to use. I too had a candy apple blue bike with "high rise" handlebars and "banana" seat. Rode that thing everywhere. I remember trying to balance a canvas newspaper bag with about 50 newspapers in it. Riding, balancing the bag, and throwing the papers was quite a challenge.
Gotta love that Schwinn Stingray. I had one just like it that I also got to pick out when I was 9. Used clothes pins to clip playing cards to it so the cards hit the spokes to make engine noises. Good times!
Thanks for detailing how to get the candy finish. I love the look and plan to try it out on my next project. I chuckled on your comment regarding purists, but even tool companies like Snap-on have discovered people like color even in tools. They sell a heck of a lot of neon green tools these days. I work with some guys that trade out perfectly good ratchets just so they can get a new one with a green handle. I don't always comment but I never miss one of your videos. Great work!
I like the 'less is more' primitive look it has...it looks like it belongs in the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey! Great restoration...the gold really pops.
Screwdriver turned out Great! I think I would like Candy Apple Red!Be Glad when Spring comes so we can go Tool Hunting,Kinda tired of this old Weather! God Bless!
As soon as my wife saw the beginning, before any work was done to it she said it looked like a lemon juicer. She laughed when I showed her the end where you painted it yellow! I think you got to keep it yellow or make it orange for an orange juicer! LOL
357MD! LOL As always your wife is right! I have the coolest Orange/Grapefruit juicer you ever saw!!!! I will have to demo it one day!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
You did an incredible job on the tip and the end of the handle. Both look better than brand new. I was thinking of a bronze color before you said yellow so we weren't that far off. What a non-ergonomic tool!
I would have chosen blue, just me. What I was really hoping you'd do was put 4 wood wedges in there & turn it into a ScoutCrafter version of a Perfect Handle. Still visually interesting, unique & probably a lot more comfortable.
Back in the day at Herbrand- " This is the best we can do but who knows, one day some some wise , daring crafter may come along and make our product - visually interesting ". I would frame it and hang it on the wall for display - no kidding. My mode of transport was similar to yours - except it was purple. It was the only color in the shop.
Hello Michael- I went thru a phase... Collecting/restoring bicycles... I always liked the Muscle bikes and was up to 47 before I came to my senses... When I was a kid we would all hang out in a friends garage and customize our bicycles and just hang out... I miss those days! Thanks!!!!!
Hey John, I think green wood have been my choice. I have one of those and I thought it was just missing the wooden handle fill. Lol great outcome of course. Love it! 👍👍

Thank you very much Scoutcrafter for the mention very much appreciated my choice of color would be blue most of the screwdrivers i have seen and have are blue i do think it would look good with bake o lite inserts or even glass i am going to have to do some research on it to see if that is the case

You could also alternate between red and blue like a vintage Craftsman color scheme. ...could be fun. Really, any of your options are going to be great! Thanks for sharing. ...best part of my day.
Yellow, good choice....almost as if I knew you were going to pick that color 😅😉 Would say put Red on the ribs of the handle to make it look like the plastic handle type screwdrivers, BUT it might not work well 🤷🏼♂️
Man that thing is ready for the tool kit of a Barris Kustom. Love muscle bikes. I still have a Huffy Rail that I got as a kid. Three speed click shifter, ready to make a boy a soprano in a wreck.

Kind of like life, you start out new and fresh then life gives you a series of hard blows and life becomes a struggle. Well you gave this screwdriver and all your other tools 'new life'. Congratulations and thank you. Michael from Canada

Hello SY! You have to give the candy (Metal cast) a try! It's so easy and looks awesome!!!!!!! You will love it! You can get it at auto part stores like Auto Zone... Thanks!!!!!!!
Wow! It looks great! I like that the yellow is reminiscent of a clear acetate yellow handle which is the prototypical screwdriver handle. Yet this one is not, which may cause someone to do a double take upon first seeing it. Just the kind of little quirk I like.
lol neat looking screw driver. i was almost thinking maybe it was made for people with rough hands that cant set some thing down they just drop it or they beat on it use it for what it wasnt ever made to be used for . but very interesting

Great to come home after work and to an amazing screwdriver video. I like the candy paint and am planning on using it sometime right away, so thanks a lot for explaining that! As for the colour, I think you nailed it!! It looks gold-ish to me and I like that colour a lot (especially on cars, my girlfriend laughs at me on that). Green would be nice too I think, I am in to the darker shades of green tough.

First off the restoration came out very nice. Secondly the yellow is easy on the eyes and I think it looks very nice.

Unique screwdriver. Never saw anything close to that. Great renewal.
Awsome, 100% Electric Blue, the screwdriver shaft would look like a bolt o lightning from an evening sky. Wow👍👍👍👍👍👍
