The total number of ATGMs for the Rakjpz is actually 2 separate stores. If 1 rail uses up half of your total ATGMs, then it won't be able to fire again despite there being ammo left
that's what i was thinking, 2 could work because if they're separated into individual sets then you'd need 12 keybinds to switch ammo types if you bring HEAT and HESH at the same time lol

It’s funny that they went through the trouble of basically creating a vehicle which has technically 1 gun, that shoots 6 times and each shot “spawns” on a different “hole”. But this kinda is tricky cuz if you had to individually select and fire each barrel, you would basically be dead, yea you could play it even more rat like cuz you could select a specific cannon and then just stick that barrel out around a corner or something, but you can’t blast them.

it's a mix, iirc it was the first one out there that came with those guns, and they just didn't update it as they improved on the newer additions, they didn't have the multibarrel tech back then, they do now, it's likely an oversight
Happens a lot it's still one of the best vehicles in game. If you could reload separately, it'd be incredibly OP. It should only reload while stationary and with rear armor hatch open though!
@@IvanTre No it shouldn't. How you could ever think the M50 is "OP" is bizarre. It's insane enough already that the T114 is 7.7. What's actually "OP" is the Fiat and German LGS battle pass thing that has a 20mm alongside its recoilless rifle, both of those can literally shoot you imperviously from behind cover and you can't do shit about it. Both the T114 and M50 have to expose themselves in order to shoot a target. The M50 also takes a bit more practice to get good at, but if you do it and learn, it easily outclasses the T114.
Yeah, I never thought about it, but it's really wild that the Ontos's guns aren't split into two groups. I imagine most people bind their secondary guns to RMB anyways, so having Left & Right gun groups for firing would be a pretty natural way of doing ti.
This reminds me how several cast hull shermans in game have variations in armor thickness in adjacent locations (like the front corners) even if the casting shape is the same (M4 Hybrid and M4A1 76) This could be historical with different companies delivering different castings, but something is up, I just know it
I think the problem is simply that it'd be too much. You can't have 6x2=12 ammo types, save for 12 different weapon keybinds. What they could do is split them in left and right, so they could easily port the 2-weapon mechanic over from the over tanks
Other problem with the ontos is that it's 6.7 but it's brother the T114 has somehow managed to be moved all the way up to 7.7 for some godforsaken reason; so now you have no backup.
Imo, the left and right 3 guns should get a diferent model, but not each gun. Shooting 6 guns would be painful Edit: 6 guns diferently modeled is also impossible due to lack of controls. There can be, at best, my mentioned division of 3 left and 3 right
I feel like this is due to game engine limitation, or other technical limitation of keybindings since they are all considered as primary weaponry. Kind of like rockets on a plane or even mounted on a tank like caliope, where you can't shoot which rockets you want to.
Its ridiculous; They could have modeled the left and right side to be separate but what im guessing happened they saw six independent barrels and thought "It makes no sense to model each individually because that would be 12 options to choose which shell to load" and this blinded them to the more simple and intuitive solution. "How did it even make it to live servers?!"
Probably the reason why the Ontos is not like the Type 60 SPRG is due to what you stated at 0:53. It isd IMMENSELY impractical to have 12 of your hotkeys for each cannon's 2 ammo types. That being said, it's laziness on Gaijin's part to not have each Ontos barrel seperately damage modeled. It just takes a more lines of code that they could easily churn out in a few days, a week at most.
well i think this is to balance that thing a little bit like, its literally 6 cannons firing at a tank, most of the time one shots it, so i consider it fair
I think that each side should be your secondary and primary guns, that like the USH each reload after three shots, as realistically there is no way a man has 6 arms.
Imagine if the action bar on the bottom stretched to have twelve whole slots for the ammo selection of each individual barrel. I don't think Gaijin is willing to code that mess, let alone give it six separate barrel models for people to have to shoot.
Yeah this inconsistency has been for ages. I get having to shoot all 6 guns to disable it is kinda tedious. Maybe have 2 sets of model with 3 guns each, L and R.
I understand the limitations but it'd be nice one half could still operate rather than all 6 cannons be deactivated if they were shot. Despite that the Ontos is one of my highest KD ratio vehicles, love that little six shooter gun.
While I do think that gaijin needs to separate the damage model of the guns on the ontos, individual loading for every single one would be a nightmare to deal with keybinding wise. Gaijin could always add a special UI for loading on vehicles with a lot of guns but we all know given their laziness they probably won't. A good middle ground would be to split the left and right side guns loading so you can load 3 with one type and 3 with another (individual damage models tho still).

Six guns. And even then, it's not even overpowered in the slightest: it just has a lot of guns to fire and they can be relatively tricky to aim given their positioning on both sides of the turret. You also have to expend all six rounds before you can reload, something that the R3 T106 FA and Type 60 SPRG don't need to do, which was clearly shown here. It also does not have a full 360 degrees of traverse and has a relatively slow traverse speed to boot. Yes, it's an effective ambush vehicle especially when the hull is bushed up. But it is severely limited by its quirks as a vehicle. It's not too mobile, is easy to kill as a light vehicle, and can literally be bullied by shooting any one of the six guns which renders it completely defenseless. And no, the .50 cal spotting rifles on it are not effective against enemies.
@@Horizon_333 since you have only 8 ATGMs, 4 in the launcher and 4 in the tank, you can change them only once, so effectively you choose it before the battle
as a former US 7.3 grinder, this is the only thing, among other minor details, stopping US few but powerful vehicles from being overpowered kinda wishing germany would get the same treatment tbh (raketenautomat)
Honestly, it would be quite OP if you had to destroy all 6 of them to make it unable to fight. This way you could say calliope should have model for each rocket as well, or katyusha. That would just be really strong as hell

In their defense the doctrine of use was fire all 6 then get to reload the rifles manually. So irl u couldn't stagger the fire like that cus some guy has to get of of ontos lol

This is just gaijin being lazy, the other tanks were introduced after the ontos, but because its a old tank they dont see it as a priority to fix. Just like with everything else in this game.

deserved, i just cant deal with some no skill ontos flanking and evicerating our entire team cause they refuse to be aware its basically "you pen everything you see, your shells explody and you get 6 shots that have no delay whatsoever" truely 7.0-7.3 materiel
Id say this is a bad thing but i hate the ontos. Ironically the main balancing factor for cancer vehicles such as this and the ush or raketenautomat is that the player that play them are utter trash at the game.

It's not that bad, it's true that having right/left separate controls would be better but ontos with a custom sight makes it a lot better

This doesent really matter because this thing doesent have any survivability to begin with,once you're spotted,it's over 95% of the time
assign 3 to one button and the other three to another button. not perfect but an easy fix
Its a tiny vehicle with very good rat capabilities, so its balanced i guess.
