    Thanks everyone for watching! What's your favorite method for installing a harmonic balancer?

      I replaced my front cover gasket on my 302 in my Mustang and I used the bolt to press the balancer back on. It went on fairly easily.

      I'd rather use the installation tool.... because beating it with a hammer will do internal damage to the engine.

    Just want to say thanks for these vids. I had to pull my drivetrain out of my 72 C10 for a leaking freeze plug behind the flywheel, these vids are making it easy to put things back together correctly.

    Knew a guy that tried to get the balancer on a sbc 283 with the balancer bolt and striped the threads he ended up haveing to pull the crankshaft and bring it in the shop to have us rethread it the cost was way more than just buying the tool. CastleVania....man that brings back memories Simon Belmont with the whip battleing monsters ah the Nintendo days,,good times!

      Sometimes not spending a bit of money on the right tool or part can cost you a lot more in the long run. I love this shirt. I wish I still had my Nintendo. I do have my SNES so that's pretty cool.

    Thank you for providing a concise very informative and thorough explanation of the install. How much do you torque the bolt that holds the balancer to the crank?

  • @GJJC13
    @GJJC13 2 года назад

    Great video. Perhaps a few dumb newbie questions: 1) when you put the new balancer on, will the "0" mark on this balancer exactly "meet" the Timing tab arrow mark? 2) If is does not align up, what should I do, because if I now find true TDC, will I have to mark it on the new balancer and therefore, "ruin" that neat "degrees ruler" on the new balancer? Thanks

    Working on a big block I replaced my Harmonic balancer with a Summit Racing® Bracket Racer SFI, and when installing it when it seemed to be at the end, and then the tool backed it self out. Everything I have looked at, this does not happen. They Show it getting to the point were you can not turn it any further and you know your done. Any ideas, thank you for any help.

      if you have the funds and are going higher horsepower buy new,if its a refresh and the old one looks ok
      and you just cruise then go with the old one,just examine it closely first for damage or excessive wear.

      it either isn't seated all the way or its a completely different height than your old balancer.
