Played a short scenario this past weekend at SFGE. We liked it and would love to play again some time.

Our group plays it and enjoys it. The car rules do need work though but it gives a fast and furious little skirmish.

I run a modified “ Desperado!” As a 1920s gangster skirmish game at the local convention. Bought a couple of Howard’s rules and am adapting them to my games. Have you found any helpful tools for running ?

Not really though I did create some complicated Excell files for tracking the campaign game

Always wanted to try them but couldn't find any decent reviews. I'm looking for some new rules to cover 70's and 80's cop shows eg sweeney, miami vice etc.. Can you recommend any other than 7tv or pulp alley? Cheers ;)

I am putting together a "Geezers" game which is 70s Britain. There is also a 80s supposedly American expansion "Vice Palms". I haven't played yet but they look interesting. They both have a very British feel if that is a problem (attributes names) I will try to get one,of them up here soon.

Two Years on from when you uploaded this, Ron… THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the review. I’ve recently seen the rules advertised on EBay & wanted to know whether they were worth buying. You gave a very balanced & useful insight into the pros & cons, so I may well pick up a very good condition, used copy, to give them a try, as I have a lot of Gangster era buildings now, as well as plenty of Gangsters, Street Toughs, Pulp Adventurers, Beat Cops, Detectives & the like, plus a handful of Gangster era vehicles, most of them being Duisenbergs though! (Guess my Mob Bosses are doing well for themselves… 😂)
The Street scene you demonstrated the playing cards mechanic on, looked SUPERB, by the way. 🤩 May I ask what size table that was laid out on?
Thanks again, Ron ~ LOUIS C.

That is a 6x4 Cigar box mat. Certainly nothing so large is necessary for Mad Dogs! Glad you liked the video!

@@CryHavocWarGaming Thank you kindly for the reply. My Gaming Table is 9ft x 5ft (basically a Table Tennis Table on lockable wheels, that splits into two halves, which swivel 90 Degrees into a vertical position, for easy storage up against a wall), although our current home is gratifyingly large & blessed with a dedicated Games Room that measures 30ft x 17.5ft, so I’m able to leave the table permanently in place. That said, most larger Gaming Mats are 6ft x 4ft (including the urban mat that I’d be using for “Mad Dogs”) so I would rarely be able to game on the entire surface of the table, even though I do have a 9ft x 5ft Cobblestone mat, two large Desert Mats that can be combined to cover the entire surface, & lots of other 6ft x 4ft mats depicting a variety of terrain types, that can be combined to create a rural landscape with a coastal section, for example…
It took me most of my life to finally end up in a home with a dedicated Games Room, which was a childhood dream of mine, from the moment I first discovered Wargaming (Ancients, WW2 & Lord of the Rings back then…). Previously, the lack of a dedicated space - & only discovering the existence of smaller size “Skirmish” type Wargaming Rules, long after they became an established Gaming phenomenon - meant that my Gaming aspirations were always put on hold for that reason, as well as the complications & restrictions imposed by real life work responsibilities, Family commitments, the lack of any Gaming Clubs nearby & so forth… After so many Years of becoming an unintended *collector* of all things Tabletop Gaming related, I’m finally in a position to actually be able to GAME with all of my painted figures, buildings, terrain, scenery & so forth - across VERY MANY Historic, Futuristic, Pulp, Horror & Fantasy settings - but this has also coincided with some chronic health issues taking a progressively more serious downturn… so it remains to be seen just how much of my treasured & painstakingly put together Gaming collection will actually be GAMED with - as was always my long cherished intention - & how much might never see the light of day - ending up confined to a mountain of 64 Litre stackable storage boxes & numerous storage cabinets & shelves full of splendidly painted miniatures that it would be almost criminal to allow to languish there….. 🥺😢
But enough of the maudlin reflections on the varied fortunes of my life thus far… 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😂 Are you still playing “Five Parsecs From Home”, Ron? I have the rules myself (being specifically written & designed for Solitaire play, was a definite plus) & I have plenty of Sci-Fi miniatures & terrain to put a campaign together, but - for a variety of purely domestic reasons - it’s been a while since I watched your early episodes, when you were first exploring & demonstrating the rules yourself…..
Thanks Again, Ron & God Bless. ~ LOUIS C.
