Since Black Mesa is a government faculty maybe the security guards are former military or cops? They can carry shotguns and magnums, way more firepower than a mall cop lol
They all look and sound pretty young, and Barney for instance is just some guy who got a degree and randomly joined Black Mesa as an officer. Maybe some of them are military vets
@@Dennis-nc3vw Neither did the HL1 guards show fear, they were always brave and ambitious. Hell, their glocks can even shoot soldiers down if unnoticed.
I keep forgetting the only reason Freeman can move and kill with such composure after getting hurt is because he gets so pumped full of morphine that the only thing he can feel is emotion

Not sure if you’re joking or not lol but it’s typically corpses I’m pretty sure. And I’m not sure if they use the same system in BM as the original game, but in Half Life, scent works as a signal that only npcs can hear, which is why they say those lines when there are dead things around :)
Don't know what you're smoking, hearing these in game felt pretty legit and authentic, like they are actually trying to be your buddy and got your side. There really isn't a very bored or superbly monotone voice, as their cheery voice lines combined with the mostly depressed voices of when Gordon dies or tells you to get moving fits with how they feel. They make the best out of a hellhole situation.
